  1. thats not at all true. most of the "outlaw" rule sets have a common beginning, the IMGA rules, then individual matches evolved over the years from there. The NRA 3 Gun comittee members all knew that a true overall common set of rules would be near impossible to agree upon, and so did the NRA. The notion of a common rule set wasn't even realisticaly discussed. The comittee decided to group all common parts of their rules to a "generic" rule set, then add all deviations to an "options" list, giving new MDs the ability to tailor their own unique set of rules. The main point of NRA involvment is to include our "black" guns under the NRA umbrella as sporting firearms. so it just added several thousand (several hundred thousand?) firearms and lots and lots of firearm owners to the numbers game of politics. As you may have seen, several "outlaw" matches now have the NRA Competition logo and backing. What will you as a competitor see with NRA involvement? little or no change... Read each matches' set of rules carefully before you attend as there are some differences, and join the NRA. jj Thanks for clearing that up.

  3. What would this entail? Are there set outlaw rules? There are many forms of rules labeled outlaw. Mostly this refers to scoring sanctioned only by each match, not by a governing body like USPSA. These rules tend to vary based on geography, but tend to have some common threads. There was a cross-sectional group of 3gunners working through the NRA trying to find enough common ground to establish some consistent rules that everyone could live with. There are folks on this forum who were on that team. As last I heard, there were too many hold-outs to get this done. The guys who run these matches, and do so very consistently from year to year see no reason why they should change their match at all. The best advice I can give you, study the match rules for the specific outlaw match you are attending. Look for differences in scoring and equipment from what you are used to. I personally know that the non-USPSA matches seem to be the most attended and hard to get in, so these guys are putting on great matches. I like the control that USPSA rules provides since I shoot USPSA pistol matches all year, I don't have to learn anything new. Most USPSA shooters like to stay within those rules. A lot of outlaw only 3Gunners seldom shoot any USPSA matches, which is why you see C class shooters win 3Gun matches from time to time. Nothing wrong with this, just the way it is.
  4. Not sure whether to take offense or not, you calling me a production shooter and all.
  5. I really enjoyed this match. I learned some valuable lessons. 1. Pre-ban Benelli M1s that have never been detail stripped, cleaned and lubed, will lay down and give up until you do so. 2. Time plus scoring is not kind to me. If I shot 2, I mostly had 2 A hits, if I shot 3, 3 A hits, and if I only shot one, you guessed it, 1 A hit. I am not sure I can ever force myself to speed up enough to get two fast D hits, and that it would be good for me to do so anyway. 3. I am not as convinced that is the weak hand reload as it is that some guys can manipulate 4 shells, some only 3. While I fall in the latter, I make up for it with my handsome good looks. 4. No matter how bad the first four stages go, the rest of the day with your friends is as fun as it has always been.
  6. The Noveske 18 is not a mid length, it is intermediate, and while uses a proprietary gas tube, is rifle length. JP 18s are rifle length and use a standard gas tube. Sabre 18s are midlength.
  7. The new gun is a Bedell Custom. I grew a bit as a shooter, and the new gun cycles much different, faster and flatter. I am forever grateful to Benny, and would not hesitate to send a gun to him any time. The fact is, if you have the issue now, then do what it takes to make it go away now. If you find later you don't need this fix, like when you get a new gun, then great.
  8. I read all 9 pages of this thread.......Is this the end of the story? What is happening now? Same trigger job still working? Cmon man your killing me. This was like reading a novel and finding out the last page is missing. AL Same gun worked 100% until I sold it and it is still running today. My current gun has only had this issue twice, and one time I am sure I bounced it.
  9. Thanks to Gary and his staff who did an awesome job once again. Squad 4 was, well what can I say, shooting with my friends is always where I wanted to be. The stages were great, as usual, looked easy enough, until you got to shooting them. I learned some valuable lessons at this match, and I wish there were three more rifle stages. That was the only thing I did well. Benny will get my Benelli by weeks end I imagine, if I can get all the BreakFree out of it that I poured into it to getting it running again. A special apology to Recon215 for puring an ounce into your gun by mistake, sorry once again. Great to see some old friends and make a few new ones alike. Congrats to Mike Moore, and all of the other winners and competitors who finished the match.
  10. We are glad to announce the opening of our new web store. OK, I don't care if it is pink as long as it works and you guys can get your stuff the way you like it. Chuck, being from California and all, likely knows well the difference between pink, mauve, and fuschia, and has a shirt in each of them, but I digress, refer to my first statement. Yes you have to sign in new and the order history is gone. The whole structure of this cart is much more sophisticated than the old one there just wasn't a way import it all. Plus there is so much old stuff in the old one that it needed to be cleaned out. There are a few little issues we are ironing out but its little things. If you notice any thing that doesn't seem right please email us so we can look into it. Here's the really nice part...we have the ability to offer different pricing levels. Enos members will be granted access to special discount level. Sign up and send an email to Mikef@shootersconnection.com with the email you signed up with and we will throw the switch. This can take a day or so if it is on the weekend, or we are at a match, but mostly will be done throughout the day when Mike is at his desk. WE want to thank you all for all the support over the years , enjoy the new cart.
  11. I THOUGHT THIS WAS GOING TO BE SOMETHING TOTALLY DIFFERENT, BUT LOOKED ANYWAY.
  12. I have the shorty, and I like the short, light, fast driving impulse better than any 5" I have ever fired.
  13. Scott, that is a Pro, the big one. The raincoat works for both.
  14. Best seller, and best for the money, Peltor Tactical 6s @ shootersconnection.com for $59 Better protection than the 6s, and better battery access, Peltor 7s @ $110 Better that the 7s, less expensive at the moment, and digital, Peltor Tactical Sport @ $99 Better than the Tactical Sport, is the Tactical Pro, but at a higher price.
  15. That is the Ultra. It debuted in January of 2008. It is just like the Pro, but without the end pockets, water bottle, and stage bag. It does come with a brass bag, dividers, and a really large pistol sleeve.
  16. The new bag comes in both the PRO and the ULTRA. The only differences are with the top loading zippers. They can be locked now to the D rings, and the cargo area is better accessed. This is a feature the Ultra has had for the past year, now it will be on both bags. We still have ULTRAs in stock in black, and PROs in burgundy if anyone needs a bag before customs releases them. You can currently pre-order a bag at the sale price. Thanks for all the kind words and support.
  17. Grams and Bolen. Grams will drop in and work and will give you great performance. You will need to modify them slightly to suit your slide stop needs. Bolens will allow one more round.
  18. One is 84 days, one in 60 days, both in the past 6-8 months.
  19. I hope to show up Saturday to shoot the pistol match and try to find a few items.
