  1. I got the basic kit with the BCG and the hammer. It seems wrong to run it in this new dry reciever, so I put a little oil on the buffer tube rim. I didn't measure it, but my experience with hardchrome tells me it fills in minor crevices, and I see every single tool mark in this bolt.
  2. Well, it finally arrived today. It is a mil-spec BCG, tool marks and all, coated in something that is thinner than hardchrome, but quite slippery feeling. The hammer was kinda rough, not polished, and took a few dry fires and re-charges to feel better. The coating has some thickness too it as the bolt is tight in the carrier with standard 3 piece rings. The entire group is coated evenly. The instructions say to use a stainless steel brush to clean it, honestly, and that any solvent or cleaner is safe as well. I cannot wait to shoot it a few hundred rounds to see how it feels with and without the suppressor. I am going to run it in an 18" rifle in front of a standard carbine buffer and ISMI spring. I will report my findings here occasionally, but it will be at least 4-5 days before I can shoot.
  3. I use 55 and 62 grain, and put in all the variables for this part of the country, and the 300 yard drop was like 8 inches. I tried 50, 75, 100, and 200 yard zeros, and none of them were as flat from muzzle to 300 with the higher scope. I talked to Brian at LaRue this morning, and he said the 104 works for 99% of all people.
  4. I can mount either pretty well after about 3 presentations, it doesn't seem to matter, but when I mount it fast, I am pushing it up and can see inside the top of the scope. I did the ballistics calc using a 50 or 200 yard zero and it was way low at 300. I used a 100 yard zero and it was flatter all the way out. The up close shots are going to be low either way, but 3" seems like a lot compared to 2-2.5". I am going to likely get the 104 and try them side by side. This 30mm optic is a bit larger all the way around it seems.
  5. Factory guns are better than they have ever been, but will still likely perform at their best with better springs, etc. Since I am privy to lots of factory guns being one of STI's top distributors, selling the best parts from everyone else, and selling lots of Bedell Custom pistols, I can tell you that our custom guns offer the best parts selected by Dan, Chuck, and me for their superior performance, construction, or fit and finish. Factory guns have parts that are selected for their cost and ease of use.
  6. Thanks fellas. I am going to call them tomorrow and get the 104.
  7. I got one of the new 30mm TR24 scopes, and I love it. I ordered the LaRue LT135-30mm at the advice of someone else who has this setup. The 135 is designed so that you can put Magpul BUS under the rear of the scope, and puts the bore to reticle at 3 inches. I always thought that 2.5 inches was more ideal since it flattens out the performance from muzzle to 300. The eye relief of this scope is much shorter than the previous version. I am using Troy BUIS, so I don't need that much height, but it is nice that you don't have to crawl down on the rifle to see it. After a few presentations, it comes up on target every time. It is high, about 1/2inch higher than my Aimpoints sit. I am pretty sure I need to phone LaRue and see if the LT-104-30mm is what I actually need. The JBM ballistics calculator really favors 2.5 over 3. Anyone have any experience with this? Any thoughts about 3 inches being too high? It just seems dramatically different than what I am used to.
  8. They all have advantages and disadvatages. If it is going to be left on all the time, Aimpoint has the track record and the battery life. If you don't want to use batteries, and are willing to take a slightly less intense reticle, then the Trijicon Reflex. As much as I like Cmore, not really setup to leave it on for 6 months as they like to eat batteries.
  9. All of the STI distributors have the GP6 mags in stock, I have a lot of them. I also have a couple of GP6 standard models in stock, but no one has the C model yet since it hasn't actually been built. We are all looking forward to getting the C model later in the year. No real date we can trust as of last week, but it will happen.
  10. Nah, those guys are great guys, fun to shoot with, and they talk like me, no yankee in those dialects.
  11. Kyle, I am truly sorry for your loss. Mike
  12. I thought for sure they would only give this criminal 25-30 years, and I am proud that he got 150 years. I am also happy that hiding money in your wife's name you stole from honest citizens won't be protected. Now if they will just return it to the shareholders...
  13. And the rest of had to be here at work... Always nice to introduce someone to top fuel pistols.
  14. Jeff, call me I have both sizes and lots if info from people who are using them.
  15. I was storing under the baby's bed, but since I have been hoarding it, I now keep it in the cool, dry portion of my workshop.
  16. Lee, I have Troy flip ups at rail height on a Daniel Defense 12" rail on my 16.1 Noveske, and they shoot point of aim, point of impact, hot or cold, short or long distances (I have tried it out to 100 so far).
  17. I knew someone would find this. I had forgotten it was them.
  18. That has to be it! I am Russian out to buy one.
  19. Saying what's been said, says a lot about the personsaying it. Say Gary, so you cannot say it, but I bet you never promised not to write it or type it, draw it, or do charades about it. So until you are standing on one foot, making otherwise obscene gestures, we won't know what to say.
  20. Some say love, it is an ocean...
  21. "Say, say, say..." Wasn't that some gay song from the 80's? How does crap like that spill out of my memory and I cannot recall where my pocket knife is?
