It must be a great match to fill up that quick! My registration was in by 8:15pm and I didn't get a slot. Here's hoping enough people back out for Saturday!

I've been using WST under 147g BBIs. Very good shooting load, with nice moderate recoil impulse and very consistent. But, good luck finding any. I haven't seen a can in over a year.

Mine 9 Pro always auto advances if I slam the mag in, like I normally do during a stage run. I have had it fail to strip the first round but very seldom. That's why I do my darndest not to go to slide lock! I would guess that there are a lot of variables at play besides springs and slide stop engagement, such as bullet profile and OAL.

Are you having any luck finding WST? I use it under a 147g BBI and like it a lot, but I haven't seen a can in a long time.

A reshoot killed me this past weekend. I ran the course and did pretty well on it, but the timer malfunctioned. By the time my turn came back around, a big storm was blowing in. Half way into my reshoot, which was going better than my first run, all of the steel blew over as the storm hit. So I waited for nearly an hour to reshoot the stage again. So naturally, the third time sucked! This is the second time this year that reshoots have come back to bite me.

I found a couple of these in my range pick ups recently. The only way that I found them was when the ram stopped short on my Rock Chucker during resizing/depriming! I have never seen them before. An internet search only showed me that Ammo Load makes industrial ammunition loading machines and didn't say anything about selling loaded ammo. Anyway, I just toss them in the recycling bag.

Welcome! We'd be glad to have you shoot with us in Oak Ridge. It would take you an hour and a half or so to get there. I shoot USPSA, but we have IDPA, 3-gun and SASS shoots as well. By the way, this forum is an awesome resource, full of folks willing to share info. Enjoy!

When I bought the components to make up my first loads, the local store that I was in only had Remington SPPs, so that's what I bought. They work fine and I've got good data for the rounds that I used them in. I'm almost out, so I went to buy more and found a box of 1000 Winchester SPPs and a good price so I bought them. They also had Federals, which I understand are very popular, but the giant box they put them in versus the Winchester pushed me toward the Win. So anyway, should I expect any noticeable difference in the velocity/power factor of my load using the Winchester primer vs. the Remington? I'm guessing no, but I'd like to hear from more experienced folks. Thanks!

I'm working on a similar load, with 147 gr Berrys PRN over 3.3 gr of W231 at 1.130 oal. I'm just starting, but it comes in at 132 PF and was pretty accurate. Shows a lot of promise.

I had a very successful test this evening. Tonight's recipe included: 147gr Berrys PRN 3.3gr W231 Federal cases Remington SP Primers 1.130 OAL 0.376 crimp For two strings of 10, my velocity averaged about 897, for a PF of 132. Right on! My SD went down to around 7! Unfortunately, I only had enough bullets to load 25 rounds, so I only got to shoot one group. But, that group measured 1.75in at 15 yards, with three shots in a nice clover leaf just over the bull. I'll take that! This one shows a lot of promise. My next step will be to load up 100 or so to do a few more runs off the bench and then run some freestyle drills with it and see what happens. Why didn't y'all tell me how much fun this was?!

Thanks guys! My plan is to move the group test back once I get the PF I'm after. I just wanted to make sure there was nothing obviously crazy at the beginning. I'm testing my 3.3 grain load today and I'll post the results. I might mess with the OAL some after that. This really is just too much fun! I really appreciate all the info that is available on this forum. It has really made this whole process much easier.

I have finally started reloading and got to test my first effort at 9 minor load this past week. Based on what I've read here, I decided to use 147g Berry's PRN over 3.6g of W231, mixed brass and Remington small pistol primers. The OAL was 1.130 and the crimp was 0.376. The load was hotter than I need, but I felt like things went pretty well. I loaded 30 rounds, fired 20 over the chrono and shot two five shot groups for accuracy. My average velocity for one string was 997.9 and the next was 994, for a PF over 146 out of my M&P 9 Pro. The spread and SD concern me a little. The spread for the first string was over 54, while the second was about 44. The SD for both was over 15. That might be due to the mixed brass. Accuracy was pretty good, with one 2in group at 7 yards and one that spread out to 3.6 due to shooter error! That group was 1.3 without the flyer! So my next effort will be an identical set up over 3.3 or 3.4g of W231 and work my way down to around 900 fps. I'm going to use the same testing protocal and I'm going to use the same headstamp brass to see if that helps the SD. Any comments or suggestions?

I eat my usual 2 breakfast sandwiches, which includes high-fiber english muffins, turkey sausage patties and egg substitute with low fat cheese added. I will also eat two handfuls of granola and a peanut butter and sugar-free jelly sandwich during the match. I'm diabetic and if I don't eat, bad things happen. I went through one match last summer without eating anything during the course of the match and I was real unsteady by the end.
