  1. There is another option, an aluma-buff.
  2. Most firewalls only block incoming, some offer incoming and outgoing protection. I'm not an expert, but seems like if some program sneaks it's way onto your computer, the outgoing protection should help. There is a free program to test your firewall "LeakTest" and more info on this at http://www.grc.com/lt/leaktest.htm . There is another interesting tool on the same site, GRC.com , called ShieldsUp which checks for open ports that could make you more vulnerable for hacking.
  3. What's normal width? As you have noted, a longer slide gives you the appearance of a narrower front sight. To fully evaluate what others are doing, you need the width of the rear and front as well as the sight radius. Then it is triall and error to see what works best for you. On several of my guns, I have used a mill to open up the real notch instead of going to a narrower front.
  4. This is what I do. http://www.maxmichel.com/tip3.html
  5. At the Mud Nationals in Tulsa, I was the only non M and GM shooter on the squad, I am a C shooter. They were the nicest, friendliest bunch of guys you could ever want to squad with. At least one of them, a past US and World Champion, made some suggestions to improve my shooting.
  6. My hits with the Glock were good, but my reloads were lacking due to the grip angle, I had used 1911 style guns for over 40 years. Bought an M&P Pro and my hits are about the same, but my reloads are better. No reliability issues other than it does not like Wolf small rifle primers which I bought during the shortage. Runs flawlessly with Federal or Winchester small pistol primers.
  7. My Open load for my Dawson minigun no poplel holes: Zero 125 gr., actually I think they may be124.5 gr. 9 gr. 4756 WSP primers 1.235 OAL At the 2008 Gator Gator the Chrono was 1425 fps. At the 2009 Gator Classic the Chrono was 1440 fps. 4756 can produce different results from lot to lot, so test accordingly.
  8. G-Man, Since it has poppel holes and a comp, my gues would be USPSA. :-)
  9. You will also have 38 super, Super Comp and 380 to be hand sorted out.
  10. I used both SC and TJ in my Open gun and while I know technically they are different, in my experience they are interchangeable.
  11. Yes, we had that happen to a local (new) shooter this year, and he put a bullet through his leg at a match when this happened. I'm not saying it's bad, unsafe, or anything like that, but it is something to be aware of. R, We also had a shooter do the same thing at a local match. I think it is a matter of improper technique/lack of training with the holster and not enough practice. Some training schools have banned the use of Serpas due to training accidents with them and I know of at least one club that considered banning them.
  12. The MGW (have that as well) works fine for the rear, doesn't work at all for the Pro/L front sight and only pushes on the sight blade of the standard M&P so save yourself a bunch of cash. The MGW indexes off the back of the guide rod shroud and therfore the Pro & 9L slide will not fit deep enough for the sight adjuster to fit over the front sight. I have attached pictures.
  13. That's sort of my thinking, but want to be sure. Thanks.
  14. If I textured the base pads on my M&P mags would it still be SSP legal? What about ESP? Thanks. Edit for clarity.
  15. I have found the Brazos Custom perforamnce tuned extractor and ejector to be drop in and reliable..
  16. I shot a glock for a while and recently bought an M&P. I think the Glock was slightly faster shooting, but reloads are much faster on the M&P. The reason, for me, is the M&P has a grip angle more like my 1911 & 2011 guns. Your results may differ. edit for clarity.
  17. My daughter saw the new Predators movie last night. She said it's not her kind of movie, but technically good and that I would probably like it. She never saw the original, so nothing to really compare it to.
  18. Which two targets? I am looking at the stage diagram and it is not obvious which two you are referring to. Thanks.
  19. I watched the DVD last night. If you don'y like apocalyptic/dark movies don't rent this one. If you have read the book (not an easy read), the movie makes a little more sense, but like most movies it does not really follow the book. I found myself trying to match the two. The movie does not do a good job of telling the story and sort of rambles. I'd like to see "Alas, Babylon" and "One second After" made into movies, but they would probably not be done well either.
  20. Try the USPSA.org classifieds. I usually check both Enos and USPSA when I am looking for something.
  21. I have had good luck filling the chambers on the comp with Hoppe's Elite Gun Cleaner and letting it soak for a few days.
  22. Have not tried them in my Glock, but My M&P Pro is shooting Wolf SR without any problems.
  23. I have two visual checks on my "start" mag. It is loaded to 11 rounds and it has a different basepad so that it does not get confused with the "10" round mags. For the 11 th (top round), I use nickel plated brass. If it is a stage that starts with an empty gun and therefore can only have 10 rounds, I remove the nickel plated round.
  24. SS 40 S&W can be finicky on the shape/angle of the ramp. A lot of people have sent their SS .40 to Virgil Tripp to fix feeding problems, he seems to be able to make them run.
