Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I'm ready to buy my first 1911. I "think" I have it narrowed down to these 3: Metro Arms American Classic II Rock Island Tactical Springfield Range Officer The first two I listed can be had for around $500 or less, the Range Officer is going to be in the $750-800 range. Is the RO worth the extra $$ or would I be fine buying one of the cheaper ones. The gun will be mainly used for informal target shooting. Your Thoughts...
  2. I have used mine for about a week now with no problems. I check it with an RCBS 750 and a 5-0-5 and it seems pretty close. The dispense speed is fine. I contacted Hornady before I bought it about the warranty which is a one year. I asked him about when these things fail shortly after the warranty runs out what will you do? He said, "As long as it wasn't dropped or spilled on we will take care of you." I don't have that in writing but I do think Hornady has made leaps and bounds in their customer service.
  3. I'd like to hear your process of reloading rifle (.223) on a dillon press (550 or 650). Mainly how you handle brass prep, such as trimming and primer pocket cleaning and/or uniforming. Also, the rounds I shoot a year direct me to a 550. I know this questions must get asked alot but is the absense of a 5th station to check for over/under charges critical? Can you visually check the case and keep a steady pace on the 550? And yes, I have read Brian's FAQ but thougt I'd get some other's input. Thank you,
