So this is slightly off topic, but not too far and kinda funny now in retrospect..... I had ordered a gun from Angus and had it shipped to a local FFL. I got a call that it was delivered on my cell phone while myself a a coworker were heading out for lunch. Well, the gun shop was on the way and I really wanted my new toy so the two of us stopped for me to pick it up. What could go wrong? So I'm there checking out the trigger pull with a gauge a borrowed from the owner while he waits on the phone for my instant check to clear. At this point in time Dave's warped sense of humor kicked in and he decided to ask, in a really loud voice, if my probation office knew about this. Well, the owners face went a bit white and his hand moved around to the small of his back as he asked "He is joking, right?" I put the gun down, assured him I was not on probation and starting planning my revenge. I guess the moral of the story is not to take pain-in-the-ass friends to gun shops. My revenge was taking him to the range a letting him shoot my airweight with Buffalo Bores +P+++++++ without warning him first. It was the 1st non-22 he ever fired. Good times!

With 38 Super (or whatever) what is the capacity difference i n a 140 magazine? I know most get 20+1 in a 40 magazine. The other question I have is if the extra recoil / muzzle blast / etc. is really an advantage for the few extra rounds? Eric

Actually, that is a good point, and I'll take it maybe a little bit farther. Open guns are, for the most part, like top fule dragsters. They are hand build and everybody knows that they tend to play on the ragged edge. It isn't as big a deal because they are not mass market guns. If limited were to allow 9mm major, we all know that sooner or later someone would take their Glock, or Sig, or CZ or (shutter) Taurus 9mm, load up some rounds listed as 9mm major from this site (which are probably over SAMMI since most 9mm major shooters can load long) and blow up their gun or themselves or the poor RO. It isn't worth it. The only way I would support this is if there are multiple published loads that fall inside the presure safety margin for 9mm that can meet major. If that happens, it is progress. Until then, we are just asking for trouble. (BTW, I have only ever seen one published 9mm major reciepe - it involved a 148 GDHP and VV 3N38). Eric

The bigger question is how is this going to be measured consistently at both major and local matches? The rules for a "simple and straight forward" chronograph check take up pages of the rule book- and they should. How are we going to accurately and consistently measure trigger pull? I'm not well informed, but my limited understanding is that extactly where and how the weight is hung can make a huge difference. Can't wait for the arbitrations. Maybe wiser heads can explain how this will work in real life. (Not that it matters to me, my CZ is nowhere close to 3 lbs SA.) Eric

I was thinking about summer matches and how uncomfortable it is too shoot in 100+ weather. I know the kilt guys claim that their kilts (and lack of underwear) make the heat more tolerable, but I think have a better idea! Who would be interested in a tactical thong (available in kacki, black or digital camo) with 4 belt loops (so it is legal) and a barney mag pouch over your junk? It would be light weight, high-speed, and low drag. As an added plus, with most USPSA shooters the ROs will be covering their eyes so procedural penalties won't be called. What more could you ask for? I'm open to investors willing to send small untraceable bills to a PO box. Regards, Eric

I don't see this as that complicated an issue. The shooter is expected to know the rules and comply. That said, for shooters who don't reload, it might be a nice idea for match directors to either setup a chrono station once in a while or (better?) have a voluntary chrono avaialble after a monthly club match (before a big match) just so shooters can see if they are running on the ragged edge. Most people don't want to cheat, they are just unaware they are not making power factor. We don't have a responsibility to coddle shooters, but there is no reason to want to see them have problems at a major. Eric

The TS runs just fine as a limited gun. With the base pad extensions it will get 20+1 with no issues. Other than a magwell from Angus and maybe adjustable sights the gun is built to run out of the box. It is heavier than an S_I and there are fewer after market parts available. If you want to tinker to make the "perfect" gun, it might be a might not be the gun for you. If you want a reasonably priced out-of-Angus gun that will hold its own if you do your part (and like a heavy gun) the CZ might be a good option. Regards, Eric Budd ps. The stock trigger is amazing. You can get almost anything you need from Angus at CZ Custom (http://czcustom.com). You might also be able to find good prices on MecGar magazines from CDNN Investments. If you don't but CZ factory magazines, MecGar is the only other you should consider. BladeTech holster are great and Angus carries them. All my CZs run fine on factory length ammo. Long loads in 40 don't work out so well. Also, if reloading hollow points, try a few before a large order. Some have reported feed problems. I run Montana Golds in my TS without issues, but I don't have a 75 chambered in 40 (yet). Good Luck, Eric

You can buy factory mages from CZ Custom (czcustom.com) or MecGar magazines for the CZ from CDNN Sports (www.cdnninvestments.com). Both work well. MecGar magazines are less expensive. Enjoy, Eric

You might also want to check where the setl screw is on the trigger. When I set mine too tight (almost no travel) I had an issue with the gun doubling when it was filthy. Half a turn fixed the issue. Luck, Eric

Between graduate school, my wife attending graduate school, work, family and an SAP implementation, I can no longer run a monthly match at Guthsville Rod and Gun Club. If someone else wants to take over and can come to an agreement with the current Board of Directors, I will be happy to assist in the transition and will help where and when I can. Everything is in place to run a 5-6 stage monthly match. Right now I just can't commit to the 1st Sunday of every month (with includes Labor Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July and Easter Sunday). Matches may be for the shooters, but if they become to much of a PITA for the staff there won't be any matches to shoot. There needs to be a balance. This is a volunteer sport, and sometimes - at the end of the day when the match is finally put away - you ask yourself if is really worth the effort. Eric

Yes very much so, a Fire fighter,/ civilian EMT's duty in no way compares to what soldiers, sailors, marines, and airmen have done for this country. Not even in the same ballpark. Unless you house is buring down with your kids trapped inside or you are bleeding out from internal injuries after wrapping your car around a tree... OK, maybe not a special category in USPSA, but the guys who go out and do that job for free deserve respect.

Well, unfortunately there a bunch of people (myself included) who bought guns and mags during the restriction and all of those are 10 round mags. Removing the 10 round limit would force people like myself to dump a bunch more money into new mags (~40.00 a pop x 5 mags = $200.00 for CZ mags) to be competitive. I think that would hurt the division and like Brittin said, it's growing "as is". You can grab a gun you bought a few years ago and go. The gun/mags are on a level playing field with brand new toys. Off topic, but get the MecGar mags for the CZ. They are just as good as the factory magazines and cost $20 to $25. If you like the 10 round magazines, check out the brass replacemnts for the plastic base that Angus sells. Eric

The probelm I see is that triggers were ruled illegal after they were legal for several years. Firing Pin blocks can no longer be removed but magazine safeties can. There were lots of 'clarifications' after the rules were finalized (for at least three years) with the Blue Book. Production is the red-headed stepchild of USPSA. When changes are suggested for Limited and Open we keep being reminded how $$$ shooters have invested in gear. That is never mentioned for Production.... Unfair as it sounds, I remain convinced that production would be more stabe if more members of the BoD shot production on a regular basis. This is just my opinion and may not have anything to do with the facts. I just need a better argument for not allowing 9mm Major in Limited is that some people might want to replace guns to get a capacity advantage. To be fair, there is no way I'd replace my 20+1 CZ Tac Sport to get a few rounds it it meant shooting 9 Major (or 38 Super) without a comp. Eric

Why should limited be exempt from changes that screw with their equipment? There doesn't seem to be a problem with changing the rules for Production to make the rules more in-line the "intent" of the BoD. Pot meet kettle. Worst case, you can add a heaver main spring. It won't make the trigger too heavy and it will be better with hard primers than the gun I received from Angus. Regards, Eric

I'm thinking of shooting Production with a CZ. I'm curious - why only jacketed? Is this a condition that exists with all of the various CZ models, or just the Tactical Sport? I was planning on an SP-01 Shadow. I've been running 180 molys out of my TS without a problem. I have not had any issues other then smoke when I tried titegroup.

Will the adjustable fit without milling the slide? It might be worth a try for $65 if it was drop-in. Eric
