  1. Absolutely agree. Ditch the movement. As has been said before, having movement in ONE lousy stage out eight really makes no sense. SCSA is virtually a stand-and-shoot sport. If one desires stages with movement, there are plenty of venues for that. Either ditch the movement in OL, or add movement to a lot more stages.
  2. That does seem a bit ridiculous. One wonders what kind of "conflicts" happened that couldn't be foreseen months and months ago.
  3. I agree with egd5 and others: Just eliminate the damned movement. Steel Challenge is speed shooting, as the national championship name says. There are other games -USPSA, IDPA, ICORE - that one can play to test both movement and speed combined. Having only one stage that involves movement out of eight stages is, quite frankly, asinine!
  4. I too have been using James Austin's moon clip server since 2015 in both USPSA and ICORE. Love it. And recommend it.
  5. I, on the other hand, I plan to visit Arizona and shoot a couple of matches. Depending on specific travel days, etc, it could be Kingman, Havasu, Yuma, Rio Salado, PRGC, Cactus Combat, or Cowtown. And someday I want to hit the Tucson matches too. Gas prices hurt (pretty bad) especially when towing, but ...
  6. Actually, the question of whether or not to allow autoloaders wasn't the reason for my post. But I can see both sides of that issue.
  7. I don't understand. How could it NOT be the club's choice to not use ICORE rules?
  8. I agree. And I really enjoyed meeting and shooting with you guys last September. I hope to make the trip again this year.
  9. Post removed because I think it was not germane nor worthy of discussion. I apologize.
  10. In other words, make most Steel Challenge stages into "run & gun" competition, or get rid of the ONE stage that has movement.
  11. Well, in that case, add movement to all stages! NOT! It simply makes no sense to have one lonely stage with movement. And, by the way, I (and virtually all) have accepted the fact that life isn't fair. Hence, we enjoy shooting USPSA, ICORE, etc WITH MOVEMENT!
  12. I've read, with great interest, this entire thread and must say I totally agree with those that believe it should be Production with Optics (and 10 rd mags). I don't understand the logic of making it (virtually) "Production Open" Div.
  13. Wow, relax, big boy. You couldn't detect a note of humour in that? Before, no, but now, yes, lame.
  14. Actually, there are two guys in that area. One has a 10-shot .32 and the other has a 9-shot .32. I wish I had the (big) bucks to commission a similar revolver!
  15. I cannot disagree. Many (if not most) Level 1 matches are, by necessity, more "low key" and more hastily put together. But then it also follows that challenges should be more "benefit of doubt goes to the shooter"; especially if the MD hasn't assembled 115 to 125 PF calibration ammo.
  16. Obviously, you are 100% correct. However, I'll venture to say proper calibration (IAW App C1) is not being done at the vast majority of Level 1 matches.
  17. Like brooke and motosapiens, I also basically disagree with all of that. And as a matter of curiosity, I found your statement (quoted below) interesting. In my experience, most RO classes are conducted on a weekend and most major matches are held on weekends. In view of your work schedule, how on earth are you able to arise and shoot major matches yet unable to arise for an RO class? QUOTE I shoot about 6-8 majors a season and see the same peope doing the RO duties at almost all of them. If USPSA got rid of the cost for the individual person along with some adjustment to how the class is structured I think a lot more people would get the certification. For me it's almost impossible to take a RO class as I work M-F night shift. The class is 2 days and trying to either stay up to get to the class on Saturday or get some sleep and wake up at an odd time is not easy. UNQUOTE As to the cost of the class, perhaps more clubs could subsidize all or at least a significan portion of the costs. That is what we did here (years ago) when we affiliated and began hosting matches.
