  1. I understand that! But if that is true (and I saw your SAAMI ref), why aren't ammo manufactures (and us handloaders) loading all .38 Spec/.357 Mag/etc ammo with .355"/.356" bullets? I also understand that barrels can and do vary, but they should be with the .0004" or .0005" tolerance, correct? And barrels can vary a little in bullet preference. But a .358" bullet in a .3546" barrel?? Interesting. Said another way: Since you said "SAAMI defines the standards, and companies build their products around them" why wouldn't the standard bullet diameter for both calibers be .355"/.356"?
  2. Okay. I guess. But I sure don't understand.
  3. Something doesn't seem right about that. Bownell's (Nominal Barrel Groove Diameters | Top Rated Supplier of Firearm Reloading Equipment, Supplies, and Tools - Colt (brownells.com) says: Nominal Barrel Groove Diameters: 9mm Luger .354" .38 Special/.357 .357" If 9mm and .38 barrels are the exact same diameter as you say, why are [the vast majority of] 9mm bullets .355"/.356" and .38 Spec bullets .357"/358"? What am I missing?
  4. One is a 10-shot built on a S&W N frame. And one is a 9-shot built on an Astra frame. I've seen 'em and drooled over 'em!
  5. I too tend to agree. And, the word "Practical" really should removed from the USPSA name. Everyone agrees it has devolved into a game. What is practical about a carry gun with a 30 round magazine?
  6. Funny that when the 929 was introduced, and to this day, I don't recall S&W saying, "Check out our wonderful new 929 9mm revolver with a 38 barrel."
  7. I've never understood how/why S&W let the M929 9mm leave the factory with .357" barrels.
  8. I too tried 1000 CCI sm pist primers and had zero problems, but then my 627 ignites Win in addition to Fed primers.
  9. Just as an "Oh, by the way..." CCI engineers say their primers of recent manufacture are like Federal primers. It would be interesting to read of a test of the two primers in tuned revolvers.
  10. How 'bout Servicio primers from Argentina? Any good?
  11. It was an aquatic match! But still great! 20221016_140056.jpg (dropbox.com) 20221016_144124.jpg (dropbox.com) 20221016_144921.mp4 (dropbox.com) 20221016_145604.mp4 (dropbox.com) 20221016_151651.jpg (dropbox.com)
  12. No. But, pray tell, what does that have to do with the topic? As I recall, the PRGC is an ICORE club; I just wondered why have a big "Non ICORE" match.
  13. I saw that too. I called before the match and was told it was NOT an ICORE match.
  14. Great! Glad to hear it. One wonders why it wasn't ICORE. Any info on that?
  15. I reckon we'll just have to agree to disagree.
  16. No hurt feelings. Just astounded by your comment.
  17. Why would you say that? Everyone is (supposedly) shooting only against others in their division/class, are they not?
  18. You must be joking, or are a joker. That is an asinine comment.
  19. But not all change is for the better! (And I'm not advocating for "brassers".)
  20. Yeah. When I started USPSA and like others have said, it used to be the norm.
  21. But the floor wouldn't be carpeted if done correctly. Our range is not littered with brass - except after a match, then scroungers have at it.
  22. I wish you wouldn't post stuff like that. It rekindles my interest in buying a 617! LOL
  23. Yeah, I think those two are the only ones in existence!
  24. Or 9 or 10! I've seen two such revolvers and really drooled over them! Pure custom revolvers (read "expensive"); .32 H&R Mag; one is a S&W N frame (the 10 shot) and one is an Astra frame (the 9 shot); and custom moon clips too. WAY COOL. IF money were no object, I would have one custom built! But, alas and alack, I'll likely have to stick with my M627 and M625.
