  1. I've read this entire thread once and parts of it two or three times. My head hurts. Has anyone heard if NROI is actually going to clear this up?
  2. I think dedicated painters are GREAT! Dedicated painters were employed at the Arizona State Steel Challenge Championship last year. I think it DID speed up the match.
  3. I certainly agree about 38 Short Colt. However, I'm a big fan of the James Austin Moon Clip Server. Yes, you got it right.
  4. I've been waiting for years for the SL Variant speedloaders to return. Its been so long, now I have to rethink whether or not I want to get serious about Classic.
  5. Yep. Virtually everyone realizes and recognizes it. Just as well remove the word "Practical" from the org's name. Call it U. S. Shooting Games Ass'n (USSGA).
  6. I agree. And like you said, a full tube of primers is a different matter; a very good friend of mine is missing about half of his little finger.
  7. Since I live about an hour from Moundhouse (near Carson City) Nevada, I used Xtreme Bullets for many, many years, as did a LOT of others around here. I used mostly 230 gr 45 bullets and their 147 gr 9mm (sized .357"). We all knew the lady at Xtreme and appreciated her bringing bullets to our local matches or giving us a little price break when we would pick 'em up at the factory. Unfortunately, the new owners don't seem to give a damn about us anymore. And, they discontinued that 9mm (sized .357") bullets which was great for the M627 moonclipped revolver. And, they significantly raised prices too. Too many negatives, so I don't do business with Xtreme anymore. EDIT: I just checked and see they are apparently again offering the 9mm-147 RN (.357") Diameter: 0.357 bullet. 9mm- 147 RN (357) (xtremebullets.com) If/when necessary, I might try them again.
  8. As cool (figuratively and/or literally) as they MAY be, the prices are exorbitant and I don't like 'em THAT much. I would rather have a cotton Tee or polo with appropriate match/club logo (at a fraction of the price of Techwear).
  9. Wow. But then, a search revealed a 787 can carry 242 passengers. $120K or $150K / 242 = not bad! But probably never get THAT many shooters to go! Ha. Might need a smaller aircraft! I checked an online site and found $1000 to $1500 round trip flights. Not knowing a date, I chose June.
  10. After a really brief check, it looks like it would be cheaper to individually book commercial flights than to charter. At any rate, its an interesting idea!
  11. I think larger aircraft are charterable too! Ha. The question becomes how many shooters and at what cost!
  12. A friend here has discussed the possibility of a BUNCH of us ICORE folks chartering an aircraft to go to Australia for a match. But I don't think it ever progressed to the point of figuring costs and how many shooters would have to go to make it (somewhat) cost effective. An interesting idea nonetheless. I wonder if anyone else has actually looked into it.
  13. Actually, the WRC has never been an ICORE match and I'm pretty sure it will not be an ICORE match in 2023. But very similar rules.
  14. Ha! Actually it is a rather interesting question. I can imagine/foresee someone doing it. I'll guess/speculate that it would not be legal since the shooter has yet to establish being in the shooting area.
  15. Slugging barrel provides the smallest diameter of the barrel. Better would be an air guage!
  16. Okeydokey. I just don't understand why this wasn't a topic among widespead 38/357 shooters before. .357"/.358" bullets have always been the common bullets. I've never felt the need to slug barrels or simply try .355" bullets in my M627. Maybe I should. But since .355 has been the industy standard for over a century, it still makes no sense to me that many, if not most, of us utilize .358" bullets in a .38! Oh, and that .004" tolerance of which you mentioned, that surely cannot apply to barrel groove diameter, right?! IF it does, that would mean a barrel with a .359" groove diameter would be acceptable. Ugh.
  17. But again, why do most manufacturers (and handloaders that don't slug nor experiment) use the smaller dia bullets in 9mm ammo and the larger in 38/357 ammo? Before the 929 was introduced, there were other 9mm revolvers (not many, but some) and I don't recall folks complaining about .358" barrels on them.
  18. Ooops. Thanks. But then, back to the original question: Why put .38/.357 barrels on 9mm revolvers. Geez, I'm confused. I hope no one thinks this is a peeing contest. I just dont understand.
  19. Still doesn't make sense. I fully understand you CAN load various sizes. And some people do. And no, according the SAAMI specs in the link you provided, it clearly states: QUOTE LAND AND GROOVE DIMENSIONS TO BE WITHIN TOLERANCES THROUGHOUT LENGTH OF BARREL. UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED, ALL DIAMETERS +.0005 UNQUOTE That is one half of 1/1000. So 9mm AND 38/357 barrels (groove dia) "should" be at least .3545" and no larger than .3555" - according to SAAMI specs.
