  1. When you yell at the police/agents/military personnel on T.V. about gripping the handgun correctly.
  2. Thanks gang. Always appreciative of the knowledge and experience here at BE.
  3. Extreme Bullets, plated, still in shipping cartons, original barrels in all guns.
  4. November 2015 I had some major shoulder surgery so I've been off for about a year. I'm cleaning up my reloading bench and getting ready to start cranking out ammo and shooting again when I notice the last bunch of 9mm, 147 grain, round nose bullets are .357 and not my usual .355. I'm sure I didn't pay attention when I bought them in 2015 so it's entirely my fault but I need to know if I can shoot them in my Glock's and M&P's or if need to try and sell them to someone who is a bit sharper at shopping than I am? Barrels have never been slugged so I don't know. So the question is, can I shoot .357's in my Glock's and M&P's? Thanks in advance.
  5. Thanks Mates. Good information.
  6. Thanks. I also just popped over to dillonprescision.com and checked the forum. Someone asked the same question and Dillon responded with "it's not that big a problem and may happen with plated bullets." I'll pull the die tonight and see what it looks like sitting on a bullet.
  7. Pocket full of Posey? I've just switched from 147 gr. JHP to 147 gr round nose Extreme bullets so I had to reset my OAL and switch my seating die station from flat to round. Oh, Dillon 650 press. In a normal stroke after the cartridge leaves the seating die, there is a dimple (ring) around the bullet nose that matches the round head of the seating die. This appears to be a deformation of the nose from the pressure of the die. Now it would seem that there is a lot of pressure at some point in the seating process and this is reinforced if I make the press stroke lighter than normal (or at least lighter than I used with the JHP bullets). I don't think this is supposed to be normal. Do you think I have my seating set incorrectly? My OAL hits just about at 1.155 (+/- .005) or 1.15 to 1.16. The rings do not seem to affect accuracy or feeding I just don't feel that the rings are "right". Comments and suggestions are more than welcome. Thanks.
  8. Just wanted to report and again thank Hogrider. Saw Jimmy Buffet at the Yum Center Saturday night and had a great time, had lunch Sunday at the Hard Rock at Fourth Street, visited with my sister the rest of the day Sunday. Shooters Supply has Hodgdon Titegroup in 1 pound bottles, $22.95 per bottle and they restrict you to one bottle per day per adult (so my wife and I each bought a bottle).
  9. We're going to be visiting family in Louisville, KY on Saturday and Sunday and I was wondering if there is any Hodgdon Titegroup or Hodgdon Clays (not universal, just clays) powder anywhere in town. Thanks in advance and Happy Thanksgiving to all!
  10. I'm using 3.3 gr. titegroup with 147 gr. Rainier Ballistics JHP. I get about a 129-135 power factor with this load (mixed brass) and I'm thinking of putting together some with 3.2 or 3.1 gr. titegroup to see what PF it makes. Since bayous are lead you may want to start at 3.2 gr and work down or start at 3.0 and work up. Chronograph everything. I don't shoot lead (yet) but as I understand it, lead takes less powder to make PF than jacketed.
  11. Mixed brass Winchester small primers 147 gr Ranier Ballistics JHP 3.4 gr Tite Group 1.150 OAL S&W 9MM Pro with 14# spring at 37 degrees F HI = 921 fps HI PF = 135,387 LO = 862 fps LO PF = 126,714 AV = 891 fps AV PF = 130,977 My very first ever reloads so some of the variation could be due to inexperience and not real consistant loads. But "they shoot good".
  12. I've read/heard that lots of people shoot low with the M&P Pro. It was for me but I shoot everything low with factory sights. Haven't figured out how to fix it without going to adjustable sights. I went with Dawson with the .285 "skinny" .1000 W front sight 021-063 and adjustable rear 034-004. Most of the time, it shoots where I want it to go with just about any ammo.
  13. It's for an M&P Pro and the non-captured spring is just that, non-captured sort of flopping in the wind and it's difficult for me to just use my hands and fingers. I believe Duane's method will work for me. Thanks.
  14. Is there an easy/easier way to install a non-captured spring? I managed to get it in but it took a while and beat my fingers to bloody shreds (well, not shreds but I did get a couple of cuts)
  15. Thanks Mates. I really appreciate the suggestions, comments and advice.
  16. Although I've been shooting IDPA for about 12 - 13 years, I've never been to a "big" match. So I signed up for the Tri-State Regional in September and I'm wondering, just what happens at a regional match? Locally we don't chrono bullets, check mags, weigh and size guns, etc. It's pretty laid back and we all have fun. What exactly can I expect at a match the size of the Tri-State and is there anything that's a very common error for newbies that I should be aware of? Any additional "big match" advice would also be appreciated.
  17. I can always count on good info here. Thanks!
  18. Hi gang. I'm just about to order my reloading equipment and I want to load 9mm 147 gr jhp's. I can't seem to find a supplier who has these in stock (or have them in stock at a reasonable cost). I've tried Google and I've tried searches here in the forum but nothing every really pops up. Anyone have a suggestion? Thanks in advance.
  19. I started separating cases last night and quickly discovered why you should sort first and clean second.
  20. My reloading equipment purchase is still a couple of months off but I wanted to get as much of a head start as I can. So I've cleaned all my brass, about 3500 cases (+/-) mostly 9mm but some other stuff in there too, .40, .45 and about 15 or 20 .38 Special cases from last month's IDPA match. I think the next step is to check/examine the cases for problems and then separate them into their respective sizes.(?) That's my question I guess, what is the next step? And what about case lube, really necessary for pistol cartridges? I just read the thread a couple down from this one and I would tend to lean toward using case lube but I've never reloaded anything before. Is there a rank below unclassified (clueless or maybe semi-clueless). Thanks. Steve aka StevieD
  21. Hey ya'll. Registered a couple of weeks ago but just now introducing myself. Steve (aka StevieD) from Central Kentucky. I've been out of the shooting sports for almost 3 years but I'm back again and the goal for 2011 is to bump up a classification in IDPA and to just get a classification in USPSA. I also plan on starting to reload my ammo come about August or September (saving up money for probably a Dillion 550). This looks like it's going to be a lot of fun! Looking forward to being a part of this group. Thanks in advance, Steve aka StevieD
