  1. LOL I'm just a frustrated B SS shooter trying to get to A before I hit Super Senior. ?
  2. Because it makes the loading process so much more problem free. If I were loading manually then it probably wouldnt be needed. But when the process is automated, loading processed brass is so much easier. YMMV. Oh and I sort and tumble brass before it gets processed. FWIW, I shoot about 30-40k rounds a year.
  3. Last night I was processing 9mm brass (decap & sizing) on my 1050/AmmoBot at 3222 cases per hour. Awesome. Happened take the pic just as the small primer sensor stopped the press.
  4. I have their Starlight and the Spill Stop. The Starlight is awesome. The Spill Stop eliminates case wobble and so far I have not had any bullets topple. Loading 9mm Minor at 2600-2800 CPH on my 1050 with Ammo Bot. Also key to eliminating the bullet topple is getting the MBR PTX set correctly, and a spring or rubber band to add a little down pressure. If loading 9mm, make sure the bearings on the MBF is on the upper set of holes.
  5. Minimalist Rifle Mag Carrier from Fury Holsters.
  6. What is your drying process after wet tumbling? I suspect your brass is not dry enough, causing the powder to get damp and loose some of it ability to ignite. I had a problem with squibs, light loads, etc, after switching to wet tumbling. I have since gone back to tumbling with media for related reasons.
  7. I went ahead and ordered a set of bearings from Dillon, they are only about $20 each. After all said and done, I think the old bearings probably just needed cleaning and regreasing. Anyway, I now have a spare set for next time.
  8. No, that is not what I am inferring. I too have shot with several juniors in that age bracket, and they shot very well, but I doubt an Open gun was the first pistol they ever shot. I am saying start them out on something simple that they can focus on other skills while being safe, and having fun. When their skills and comfort level grow, then introduce them to something else. When you start driving, you dont start out on a F1, at least most dont. All kids are different, and the OP's may not have any problem with it. Try both and see what they are more comfortable starting out with. The key is for them to be safe and have fun.
  9. If it were my son, this. Minimize the number of tasks that are required when starting one out. Safety/decocker manipulation requires attention and fine motor skills, that a young un starting out probably will take some time to get the hang of. Plus the long first DA trigger pull might be an issue. Good luck, and enjoy the time shared.
  10. Banks Bullets seems to have them in stock.
  11. IOW, something ready for CO straight from the factory. That would be nice.
  12. Just for grins, and because I like to see things represented as diagrams/graphics, I tallied everyone's response into Excel and graphed it. It isnt very scientific, but gives a good picture of the powders preferred. Hope this helps some.

    SP01 For carry optic

I set my Phantom up for CO. Springer mount and FF3. About 1K rounds with practice and one match, so far so good. The dot works well with my almost 60 yo eyes.
  14. IOW, are the OEM bearings from Dillon the only option, or is someone selling a higher grade bearing? Or a link to a higher grade bearing? There are a dozen companies out there selling various bearing upgrades, etc, etc, etc. But I havent found anyone with anything but the OEM crankshaft bearings. If the original bearings need to be replaced in about 60K cycles, it might worth investing in better bearings.
  15. Not that I have seen. Would be interested on one too. I am just very careful when sorting my brass. I use a the bottom of a 45ACP 100 rnd plastic case to sort. It makes it very easy to see 380 and Mak. I havent yet, but intend to try to sorter pans and see if they are quicker.

    optic for AccuShadow

I put a Springer plate and Burris FF3 on my Phantom. So far it has worked very well. The optic will depend on your preference, e.g. 6, 8 MOA, etc.
  17. Time isnt the only thing. The S2 appears to be way too heavy. Not sure it would be possible for it to make weight with an optic and empty mag.
  18. Only about 60K cycles on my Super 1050, and I need to replace the crank bearings. Besides Dillon/OEM bearings, are there better options out there? My google-fu has not turned up anything.
  19. Good info. So which CZ is preferred for CO?
  20. Have you started wet tumbling at the same time? If so, possible still moisture in cases causing primers to fail. Been there ...
  21. I had to seat 124 zeros at 1.100 in order to get them to pass an EGW or Wilson gauge. Hondo gauge doesnt check OAL. I was setting up a new 1050, and working up 9 Minor loads for the first time (had shot/load SS Major for years). My rounds would not consistently gauge. This drove me crazy trying to figure out why they wouldnt gauge, until I marked them with a sharpie and saw they were rubbing on the bullet between the ogive and case. My crimp is about .3770 (changes with headstamp, but this is a good average), I use an EGW-U sizing die, Redding Comp seat die, and Forrester taper crimp die. Good luck in getting it resolved.
  22. Correct, my bad. Working from memory is a dangerous thing.
