  1. You are correct. It IS manufactured in France by Nobel Sport. I use 8.2 Grains of SP2 with a thickly plated South African 124gr Frontier bullet in my Open Glock. In the Official Vectan Charge tables there is a 147gr FMJ load. It is 6.5 grains of SP2. It makes 1198 fps according to them. That is a major calibre load for I.P.S.C within normal 9mm Luger pressures, albeit right at the top. It is an excellent powder for 9mm major.
  2. Try IGB Austria. They do a Glock mount similar to the SJC. It mounts on the front rail and has an extended pin through the trigger at the rear. They will send one to Estonia no problem. I have one and have had no problems with it. http://www.igbaustria.com/ Have a look. This mount looks just awful! I spent a lot of time and made my drawings, mounting similar to SJC. Soon I will get the first sample which to me make on a CNC machine. Now I have almost all the parts for the open Glock. And a very nice titanium compensator. It remains to obtain only mount... I agree the IGB mount does not look pretty, neither do Glocks. However they WORK superbly just like Glocks !
  3. I recently ordered five magazine extensions by Pearce Grips for my Glock 21. Ordered over the internet and I found them very efficient. They arrived here in SPAIN in less than two weeks, no problems at all. I am quite impressed.

  5. There is a 147 grain load that is published in the VECTAN tables. It is 6.4 grains of SP2 with a Speer 147 TMJ. It comes out at 36250 PSI. It factors at 176. Also listed are loads with 88 grain and 115 grain bullets that top out at 36200 PSI. Top end of the pressure scale for sure, but within normal parameters so no problem. Having said that I am always very wary of using brass that has been reloaded multiple times. Glad to hear you are OK with all digits intact though !
  6. Ok Malc I will qualify that.....................what I meant was I ALWAYS beat SOMEBODY with a 2011 type pistol every time out. Mr S*I Grand Master from Cordoba with his SIX GRAND gun as a prime example !
  7. I have two Open Glock 17's and I beat guys with 2011 style guns every time out........................ Go for it and ENJOY !
  8. I have an Israeli Fab defence USM mount with a Burris Fastfire sight on one of my Open Glock 17's. It mounts on the weaver rail on the frame only. At first I was a bit concerned expecting accuracy problems because the plastic Glock frame does flex slightly. In use it has absolutely no accuracy problems whatsoever. It will shoot "snake eyes" point of aim all day long. Ejection is perfect with major and minor ammo. The only thing it needed doing to it was the Weaver rail it comes with on the bottom needed milling off. Simple to fit with no modifications to the gun.
  9. If your extractor works, then it isn't broke so don't "fix" it...............so NO. However two friends of mine both with STI 9mm's, one a Steelmaster and the other an Edge. Two of the most expensive "jammatics" I have ever seen. Two Aftec's later problems solved !..............So YES. One of them also has an STI Edge .45acp. It works flawlessly out of the box................so NO.
  10. Nice group........................decisions....................decisions
  11. Thanks for the input gents. I can get SPS adjustable rear with a fibre optic frontsight. These are BoMar style so I'll probably go with those.
  12. Mumzer Yeah, thats what I'm trying to find out. I suspected that they may be a bit marginal accuracy wise on long range poppers and the like.
  13. I have a Norinco NP28 9mm double stack. It has a 3lb trigger and is EXTREMELY accurate and reliable. I was thinking of shooting it in IPSC STANDARD division next year. The problem is the stock sights are just that, bog standard 1911, very small. With my 54 year old eyes these sights are of no use for anything other than slow fire. Has anybody tried the XS sights for IPSC use. Either big dot or standard dot ?
  14. A friend of mine did have exactly the same problems as you with his Steelmaster. He had a gunsmith install an AFTEC and a QUINN mount. Problem solved ! Prior to this it was the most expensive "jammatic" I have ever seen, it was a paperwieght. It cost 2500 Euros over here and you shouldn't have to do that for that amount of money.
  15. Welcome to the forum. I retired four years ago and moved to Spain. Here it's just like it was in the U.K before 1997. Once you get a Spanish licence you can have whatever you like, pistols, AR15's, shotguns...............whatever. I don't miss the U.K nanny state firearms act one little bit.
  16. PLENTY of room, property prices are a buyers market at the moment. Gun ownership here is MASSIVE and without the British anti / suspicious attitude toward gun owners. I cannot recommend it HIGHLY ENOUGH.
  17. Welcome to the forum. Still doing Practical Shotgun in the U.K I see ? I retired from England to Spain four years ago. Here you can have pistols, Glocks, STI's Paras, CZ's and all manner of shotguns and rifles. Mossbergs are ALL good. I have a Turkish "Stinger" pump action 12g with a folding stock and a 14" barrel. Enjoy your new toy when you buy it.
  18. I don't own a .38 Super or SC pistol. However I do remember making a habit of shooting a lot of .38 Special in a .357 686 revolver. 100% safe no problem EXCEPT the chambers all ended up with a serious crusty ring of carbon in front of the case mouth due to the shorter .38 Special. It prevented chambering .357 magnum and was a b*tch to remove. I can't help thinking that with prolonged use you may get the same effect in the .38 SC chamber with 9mm ammo ? I wouldn't want that in my expensive Open race gun.
  19. "I have been shooting my g17 open gun in 9 major for about 9 months now with no issues". Just a suggestion. If it isn't broke I wouldn't fix it. I have tried a lighter striker springs in my G17's with the standard striker. They DO make the trigger pull lighter, but they made the gun unreliable with light strike issues. Not much point in having a light trigger pull if the gun don't go bang EVERY time you pull the trigger.
  20. Barrel to slide fit is ESSENTIAL for accuracy. Rear lock up and muzzle end to the slide. Slide to frame fit is nowhere near as important for accuracy. That goes for any type of sights you are using. This subject is discussed by Bill Wilson in a book who says the same. 20 years ago I had an Auto Ordnance 1911 .45. Slide to frame it would rattle when you shook it side to side. I had a stainless match barrel fitted by a gunsmith and the trigger done at the same time. Slide to frame was left alone. That thing would then shoot into one and a half inches at 25 yards.
  21. I zero at 15 metres. Sitting on a chair with the gun rested on a range bag for stability. That way I get a fast result using less rounds. THEN I verify it by shooting with my normal two handed grip and make any fine adjustments IF necessary. My 9mm major Glock zeroed at 15 metres is pretty much on the money out to 30 metres as the trajectory is pretty flat.
  22. That sounds expensive and very unlucky. I have a CMORE STS and a Burris Fastfire 2. Originally I had the STS mounted in the dovetail on the Glock 17 slide. I shot it that way for about a year with no problems. Until one day in the middle of a stage it flew off the mount and hit me on the head. So that setup went out of the window. I then fitted a frame mount from IGB in Austria and put the STS on that. The IGB mount is similar to the Carver mount. No problems at all to date. The Burris was always frame mounted and has been trouble free as well. These mini optics are well made and seem quite resilient. I think you just may have been very unlucky ?
