  1. I am gonna jump back on the Crossfit bandwagon. I am 53 and have been doing crossfit for a year and a half. I have lost 25 lbs and I know I am in better shape than I was in my twenties. If you have not tried it, you should. They will scale to any age, weight or condition to make a workout that is challenging yet beneficial. I have seen plenty of people of all age groups come in way out of shape and look great now. Most of the Crossfit gyms have a trial period that is either free for a couple of weeks or some sort of discount to get you hooked. Don't get me wrong, you will hurt like Hell for the first couple of weeks but the long term benefits will definitely improve your conditioning for 3 gun. We have a 67 year old Vietnam Vet that works out with us and he has bad knees from a Helicopter crash and it totally turned him into a new person. He does a scaled weight but he hits it as hard as the rest of us. Don't let age and current conditioning keep you from trying it. Most of my squad does Crossfit and I can tell you from experience, it really helps in all aspects.
  2. Very well stated jw9976. Most of the guys I shoot with Crossfit. Hard to argue against something that works.
  3. She's kind of like the church lady. Yes I shared this with all my friends. That is awesome.
  4. Oh my god that is hilarious. How did she not see the camel toe when she was looking at the video? Sad thing is she probably paid someone to make the video for her.
  5. Check out the Crossfit thread in physical conditioning. Probably one of the longer threads on the forum. Out of the ten guys I shoot with on a regular basis, six of us Crossfit. I think JJ bought a Crossfit gym and the guy who is in charge of the Crossfit games shoots with us on a regular basis. The Crossfit main website had a picture of him teaching one of the top female competitors how to shoot. Talk about a thread that went nuts. I think some antis heads exploded that day.
  6. Thanks for the update Mack1207 and let us know how it works out. I shoot with several guys who have 930's. Will pass this information off to them as well when you give us the update.
  7. Fish oil, and a cross training of some sort. Did ten years as a catcher and blew out my ACL skiing in college. I creaked like the tin man going up the stairs and my knees always hurt. Started Crossfit, Paleo diet and fish oil. Problem solved. Strengthening of all the muscles with something that is not just weight lifting really helps the joints. We have a guy at our gym that is 65 and screwed up his knees in a helicopter crash in Vietnam. The guy moves like a 30 year old and is in great shape after just one year of Crossfit. Memberships can be a bit pricey but so is shooting. And it will help your game as well. Good luck.
  8. Crossfit. Strength, stamina, endurance and flexibility with the Paleo diet. Try to stay away from all the foods that can be refined into alcohol. ( wheat, rice, potatoes etc). Those give you huge spikes which cause the mental crash and burns. Probably this close to a match, your best bet is to eat cleaner. If your long term goal is to get better at 3 gun, I highly recommend you check out Crossfit. Can't tell you how many guys I shoot with also do Crossfit as well. Good stuff and the guy who is in charge of the games is also a shooter.
  9. I use anything I can get my hands on. Range brass and pick up mine after I shoot. Never really seen a difference in any of the brass and it's all mixed. And yes, free is the best brass out there.
  10. The last I heard, Brandon won't work on an SV build that he didn't make. That and it greatly impacts the re-sale value. Best not to cut corners on something like a premium high dollar gun when you can just buy factory new. Brandon really stands behind his products.
  11. I do see field grade Benelli M2's on Calguns quite regularly for around 11-1200 dollar range. Pretty good option if you want to just add an extension and go. TTI will do a complete workover and turn it into one of his competition guns for less than a grand. 2200 is still cheaper than getting a gun built by Salient for 3K. At least with the field grade M2, for less than a hundred bucks for an extension, you can shoot matches and turn it into a race gun later when the budget allows.
  12. So did you get the problem fixed Mack? Sounds like anyone specializing in smithing JM930's could build quite the business. Wonder if www.fixyourbrokenJM930.com domain name is available? Not to make light of your situation but it sounds like you are not the only one with the issues. Hope it all works out.
  13. I have a 12+1 Nordic. The extension is way past the end of the barrel. If I were to do it all over again, I would just get a 26" barrel. Same length with the extension. Other problem with the longer extension is more thinking about the count if there are any slugs or switch to buck stages. Also kind of ruins the entire short barrel advantage of getting around the stage quickly.
  14. Call Taran Butler at Taran Tactical Innovations. He can tell/sell you anything Benelli. He does custom Benelli work as well as being a sponsored Benelli shooter. If anyone can fix it or help you, he can. info@tarantactical.com 805.522.1911
  15. Call Brandon at Infinity and get one built. Then buy something to hold you over until your Infinity is ready. If you cannot wait, talk to Jojo at JV Dynamics. He makes real nice guns on STI frames for a reasonable price. And he is an Open Guru. I am just partial in SVI's. The quality and fit on those guns is unbelievable. Of course the biggest problem is the wait for the gun to be built. Well worth it in my opinion.
  16. As long as you continue shooting, that will probably always stick in your mind. One of my first matches, I did a Michael Jackson spin in a squad of about 25. To this day, my blood pressure goes up when I got to a heels to mark, turn and draw stage. Glad nothing bad happened. DQ is part of the learning process. Seen some really good shooters get DQ's at Nationals so don't worry about it too much. Lesson learned and move on.
  17. Good information to know. I bought the Arredondo mag brush and don't use it religiously enough. Used to shooting the Glock and just wiping the mags off on my pants and reloading them again. Shooting the 2011, drop them right and they seem to work like a garden shovel if dropped right. I didn't think about how just a little bit of debris could screw up the internals the way they do.
  18. Timer mind scramble. Plan the stage in your head and walk it 5 times, have a total plan and the timer goes off and .......total blank. Happened to me last week. Seems to happen less with time and experience but it still blows when it happens.
  19. I had issues with shavings when I first set mine up. Using all Lee dies. I wanted to have a bigger bell for the bullet feeder. If you make the bell too large, the bullet drops too much and I was getting the edge of the bell hung up on the crimping station. Just took some time messing with the powder drop station and about 20 empty cases later, was able to get the right formula. Load enough, you become a master tinkerer and press mechanic.
  20. Lee is definitely a great option. Bought my set when I started reloading on an old load master and then when I bought a 650 from Brian, I just kept the Lee dies. No issues at all. Cheap and they work well. Cannot beat that.
  21. My screw up. I am currently loading 3.6-3.7 TG with an OAL of 1.18-1.19 Thanks Chuck for the correction. Hoping that the same formula maybe dialing down to 3.5 with produce the same PF with the 6". Shooting 3.4-3.5 is a powder puff load for the sight tracker. Would be nice to not have to have separate loads for both guns. I feel like an expecting parent just waiting for Brandon to call me letting me know my new child (expensive child) is on the way.
  22. Man, if you can hold out a little bit longer, get a JP complete rifle. Match grade barrel, and out of the box they are ready to rock. You can get a complete rifle for 2k. That way you have everything factory fit and you can have a gun that probably 2/3 of the shooters out there have. Or you can pick up a low miles used upper on the forums and still build the lower the way you want it. $400 bucks more you can get a nice Vortex and you will have a gun that runs as good as any of the guns the Pros shoot. I built my lower to put all the components I wanted on it and just put on a JP upper and it runs great. Depends on if you want a tube or quad rail system. Good luck and welcome to the sport.
  23. Budget is definitely a major factor in anyone suggesting what is best. For the best value, I agree with everyone else on this thread, take a good look at the Vortex. Going up to that 2k mark, night Force is great. Above that, US Optics is a great choice with great customer service.
  24. I like the Otis kit. Everything fits into a nice portable compact case. Pretty much all you need for travel is some Hoppes and some patches and you are good to go. I think I am like everyone else, wipe them down every once in a while and give a good cleaning a couple of times a year. Great think about the AR, you can carry a small tube of oil and the thing will run forever.
  25. Salient and Taran both have their contact info on their sites. Taran now has a website Taran Tactical Innovations. He is in Simi Valley. I believe your turnaround time would be quicker with Taran. Plus if you call him, he might offer you a fix over the phone. Dudes been shooting forever.
