  1. Wait....You actually shoot matches Nealio?

I only carry the one blaster at local matches. Im pro parts for a different reason. Even though I have an extra blaster for big matches, I hate to wait on shipping or parts shortage for a replacement part once I got the gun home.

I like them for that reason too. If your questioning if something is broken or worn it's also nice to have an extra new one laying around to compare the one in the gun to or just throw the new in the gun to verify.

  2. Oh and for the record I hated the bladetech. Where it attaches to the holster is too high so it forced me to bend my thumb on draws which was awkward. Then my bent thumb hit the screw head where it mounts to the belt and would knock the bark off the first knuckle on my thumb. Like 4-5 draws in and my thumb would be bleeding, and that got very anoying trying to dryfire every night.

  3. I'm using a Ghost and like it a lot. It does require you locktite everything down really well or it's gonna move. I hear people complain about this all the time, but really 3 minutes and some locktite solves everything. If you don't have $4 and 3 minutes to spend on it you probably aren't going to go very far in USPSA.

  4. Here is the recomended spare parts list from Jim Jones at J&L Gunsmithing:

    Green Front Sight Fiber

1 - Set of Xtreme Grip Screws

    6 - Wolff 13lb Hammer Springs

2 - Hammer Pin Retaining Pin

    5 - Factory Extractor Springs

    2 - Extractor

    2 - Extractor Pin

    5 - Sear Springs

    2 - Slide Stop

    Firing Pins (1 - X-long, 2 EG Xtreme)

5 - Uncut Factory Firing Pin Springs

    1 - Firing Pin Retainer/Back Plate

3 - Firing Pin Safety Plunger Spring (spring under firing pin block)

It's probably a little excessive, but if your spending hundreds of dollars on match fee's, hotel's, ammo, ect it would suck to go all that way and spend all that money to have to sit out because of a $5 spring.

The down and dirty bare minium list probably looks like this:

    4- Front Sight Fibers

    2 - Wolff 13lb Hammer Springs

    1 - Factory Extractor Springs

    1 - Extractor

    1- Extractor Pin

    1- Slide Stop

5 - Uncut Factory Firing Pin Springs

Jim has all of this in stock, tell him Zach Savage sent you!

  5. The XL firing pin is also on my list to consider, but it's my understanding that Henning's firing pin isn't Production legal. Or at least the one he lists on his website. I've seen other posts that allude to a new Production legal XL firing pin, but I don't know if that is ready for prime time or not. Maybe some of you guys know. :)

The other option obviously is to order Eric's from France, but that takes some time, unless someone is stocking these parts in the US that I don't know about.

To answer the question, hennings current XL firing pin is not production legal because as was already stated it won't work with the firing pin block. He has made announcments that he has one comming out with one that will work with the firing pin block and would then be legal for production. I'm anxious to try one of these out. If it works it should be the best possible firing pin option for stock II's.

Jim Jones of J&L Gunsmithing stocks all of Eric's parts which is nice because you don't pay insane international shipping to get them and he's ships quick so you would have it within a couple days depending on where you are located (I'm on the east coast and I get stuff from him in 2 days shipping USPS).

As for firing pin's, most of the serious USPSA shooters have multiple setup's. Ben uses a henning for practice so he can pop all of those tula primers he bought not to long ago (I just watch my friend Nick have about 80% sucess popping tula's with an Eric pin so it will set them off just not as reliably as is requires for our sport), he dryfires with a factory pin, and he uses Eric's pin in matches. All I have are federal primers so I use the Eric pin for practice and matches and a factory pin for dryfire.

You also could shoot Ben Stoeger a mssg, he's on here, he helped me with some mag questions I had, can ask what he runs... I think he kinda knows what he's doing lol

Huge misconception, he doesn't know shit. You need to ask Brandon (the guy who makes sure everything on ben's guns is good to go).

I just got my own stock II this week but I've been shooting loaners for the last 6 months. Ran one at nationals and have throughly fingered Ben and Brandon's guns.

Guy makes his gun belch championships, beg to differ but I bet he knows a bit.

Just because he doesn't work on his guns doesn't mean he doesn't know.

And I said he knows what he's doing, not that he was a f*#king gun wizard....

He won't dispute the fact that he isn't super knowledgable about guns and reloading. You can ask him yourself. I'm not saying he's a retard, just that there are better people to ask gun questions to. Ben is my friend, I was in the hotel all 3 nights at nationals as Brandon clipped springs and made sure Ben's guns were ready to run (he was doing the same thing to mine). If you are talking about shooting stuff yea I agree, he's a wizard and there is probably no better shooting instructor on the face of the planet (so long as you are not thin skined). But my responce was more or less just to mess with my buddy (assuming that he would read it at some point).

I wouldn't ask Tiger Woods to build me a set of golf clubs or Jimmie Johnson to build me a motor and they both do a pretty solid job of winning championships!

  6. I ask because I wear metal cleats, but, at this years FL State Championship there is a stage that looks like a ship and it will be wood. Wood and cleats do not mix, that I know from first hand. SO, CAN I change or I CAN NOT?

    Change em bro!

That's why I like my Inov8's. They have just as much grip on grass and gravel as a cleat, but just as much grip on wood as a sneaker. Really it's the best of both worlds. Only downsides I've found is that they are not warm in the least for cold wheather matches, and they are not water proof in the slighetest. I saw where they are supposed to have a few models out or coming out that are gortex, which I'll probably try at some point.

  7. Didn't realize their Extreme parts or new guns were in the US. Dealing with EAA is like herding cats. Who else has them or do I need to call down to one of their airheads? David

Call JIm Jones, he stocks all of Eric's stuff, xtreme parts, and any regular factory Tanfo part you could ever want. He has mags and Stoeger basepads as well. My understanding is that he's about to have a new website up that you can order parts off of, in the mean time call him. I know J&L Gunsmithing has a facebook page and assume his contact info is on there. If not message me and I'll give you his number.

  8. The gun was built by Jim Jones of J&L Gunsmithing. He also did the cerakote.

He's been smithing Tanfoglio's for 15 years. He's been shooting a Tanfo in Limited for about that long as well and is a pretty accomplished 3 gunner (dude is a GM level shooter). The DA guns have been a little bit of a trial and error process, we origionally got some bad advice and bad/wrong parts from Eric. Since then it's been smooth sailing! Jim smiths guns for some pretty elite production guys in USPSA, his work is second to none!

Vanniek71, Yea I wanted my unicorn to stand out from the other 5 in USPSA. I tried the Inov8's shoes out and they kicked the crap out of the soloman's and just happened to ONLY come in orange for that model. Which worked out because as a Clemson grad I like orange and own a bunch of shit that's orange. I figured if I'm already gonna be rocking orange shoes I might as well go orange gun. I had no idea Jim Jones was going to send me the hat, so now I'm pretty color cordinated! But hey if you see me at a match from 300 yards away you won't be like, "I think that might possible be zsavage down there". You'll just know it's me!

    echase1, GO TIGERS!

  9. Yea it's cerakote, ran my first 400 rounds out of it on Sunday and it runs like a scalded dog! I've been shooting loaner stock II's for the last 4-5 months, I shot production Nats this year with one. I knew how awesome these things were, but it feels awesome to finally have my OWN!

  11. I am working on a stock 3 compensated along with tuning up the trigger and adding a magwell. I tried a few weeks back to get a hunter top end but they called back saying they couldn't get me the slide. I had visions of a longslide two 10mm blaster with tirjicon rmr riding the slide.

Dugiv, is your Stock III large framed?!?

You're outside the US right? The only Stock IIIs I've heard of stateside are small framed, ergo not convert able to 10mm, 45 or 38super.

I just had 2 large frame stock III's come through my shop, they do exist!

  12. Yea that's oak! First thing I saw when I looked at the picture. If I were you I'd double up my plywood as stated and then run a hardwood edge band across the front edge of the joined plywood. I would use 3/4 thick (what is usually referred to by industry people as 13/16 SLR) and rip it at least 1.5" (3/4 plywood + 3/4 plywood= 1.5, but you could make it anything over 1.5. 2" would work, hell 10" would work, it's whatever you like). Flush the edge of the hardwood to the top of the work surface, glue the crap out of it with wood glue and either biscuit or nail it. Then you can belt sand it flush and route an edge profile on it if you wish (I like a nice size round over or a bull nose). The hardwood band adds structure to the top and makes for a nice clean, professional edge.

Your overhang should be fine, mine is like 8" and it works really well.

  13. Hurt mine at work but my dryfire regiment was actually making it a lot worse. I gave it over 6 weeks of rest with no improvement, stretched and worked out without much improvement. Then I started taking a daily dose of Aleve along with glucosamine (supposed to support joint health) and it was almost immediately effective for relieving the pain. Now I'm just trying to be careful to not over due it and trying to increase strength so I don't reinjure.

  14. I suspect something is preventing the powder bar from moving, so the funnel is not sliding upwards. Double-check on how the failsafe rod is attached, and that no foreign object is mixed in with the powder in the hopper.

Thanks, I will check this out. I don't think their is anything foreign in the powder, but I've got a uniquetec precision powder adjuster I'm getting ready to install so I will verify during that process. Does everything else look right to yall?

  15. Every once in a while I get a slpit case on my 650 at the powder station. I can't figure out what causes it? Brass isn't visiably longer than any others (I haven't measured but when you sit them side by side on a flat surface you can't see a length difference and once its deformed I'm not sure the measurement is going to be worth anything anyways). Anyone have this problem or know what causes it?

  16. I'm still missing the drawer fronts on the right side, drilling my hole for the spent primer tube, making a removable box to go inside the top left drawer to catch the spent primers, and the box that will go over the top and hold a 4 bulb 48" florecent light.................................and then junking it up with all of my crap!

  17. I usually have a song running in my head so I figured why not listen while shooting. I don't really see any change in my scores from using music or not using music. I like it so ill probably listen more in the future, I'm still very social though.

Usually some Rage Against the Machine, 5 Finger Death Punch, or Perfect Circle jamming when I'm shooting. Most people say they need to calm down but I prefer to get jacked up before I shoot!

  18. I see a lot of really good shooters shoot head, hands, then feet. They do it fast and can get them all before it starts moving, in my experience, this is extremely difficult and any misses can lead to a dumpster fire of a stage. So I'm a little more conservative and start at the top then shoot down one side. Usually I like to go down the right if possible. I end up shooting the star clean about 90% of the time like this.

  19. Side note: Dudes around here pay $80+ to ride 18 any given Saturday, if you go play paintball it's gonna cost you a min of $35+paint, college football game is a min of $50 (as much as $500), a fu*kin movie is $35 after you buy popcorn and a coke. So why not drop $35 on a well run local match? Is the shooting community that cheap (the answer can be yes, I'm really interested to know)?
