  1. Please, not so long as they are still having the USPSA nationals. And if they do have it, not until October!
  2. While I'd agree for all iron sight divisions, some people are more handicapped with iron sights then others. Therefore, it is likely that some could be "properly" classified one class higher in Open then in "irons".
  3. Tried to access the World Shoot Web site and got an error that they have exceeded their bandwidth. Is anyone else hosting the interim results?
  4. Jim, I understand exactly what you are suggesting. What I am saying is that under the current IPSC production rules, if you add the major / minor factor, the number of "competitive guns" will decrease, NOT increase. The very few major caliber guns that approach the current 9mm capacity would be the logical choice. As it stands now, there are many viable options, but yes you are correct in that they are all 9mm. As to your 33 round scenario, that would be changing more than just the major minor scoring system. Bucky.
  5. Jim, The Para LDA gets 16+1 in .40. I'm sure with a little tweaking, someone will get 17 rounds of .40. With the "real" flush fit 9mm mags, some are getting 18+1. Seems to me that you just created the P16 division with maybe a few savvy people gettign 16+1 in a Glock 22.
  6. IIRC the 12 gauge comment is more like, "you have to strain the remains for the fingerprints.
  7. So if you are the RO, what do you do if the shooter stops in the middle of a stage and says the targets aren't taped?
  8. Steve, I had originally purchased the Mitch Rosen pouch for CCW. When the rule changes outlawed my Blade Tech pouches, I used what I had. It worked out pretty well. Also, the leather doesn't "grab" the mag if you tend to pull it out (the mag that is ) on a wierd angle, where I've found that kydex tends to do. These pouches are available at Brownells.
  9. I'll predict that the L10 winner this year isn't shooting a 1911 based gun.
  10. Don't forget about the bag of money Vic gave to Corrin, which she ingeniously hid under the kitchen sink.
  11. Also, Ready Aim Fire in Bristol, PA runs on the second Monday of the Month. http://www.rafire.com/
  12. So what happens when people start shooting $2600 single stack guns. They are every bit as good as a $2600 Wide body, once you remove the capacity advantage. You'll still have people complaining that their $500 mil spec can't compete.
  13. Not as bad as it sounds, but still tricky. You only have to compress one spring at a time...
  14. Obviously, you take the right side lever off which you've done. First, take the firing pin block out by removing the roll pin that goes through the slide. (Ok, you've done that). Next, put the slide on a flat surface. Cup your hand over the top back of the slide and use your thumb and first finger to hold a punch over the Firing Pin Plunger (the part the hammer strikes). Pull out from the left and rotate up. A spring will shoot out from first the right side (really hard on a G model) and then the left. If you've cupped the back of the slide really well, your hand should have blocked the springs and pins from flying across the room. Once this part is out, you remove the extractor by punching out the pin from the bottom of the slide up. (It won't come out by banging downward). Hold the extractor in place while doing this. Next remove the extractor and the firing pin will come out. The cupping part is important. If not done correctly, springs will fly. Try to do in a very clean enclosed room incase you need to go hunting. Good luck.
  15. Wow, 1324 fps? Most I've been able to chrono is 1250 out of a 4.7" barrel!
  16. Been reading James Bond, have we? http://www.gunsamerica.com/guns/976074111.htm http://www.gunsamerica.com/guns/976052299.htm They are not cheap.
  17. The AK-47 is a 7.62 x 39 and the AK-74 is 5.45 x 39, which is probably the reason.
  18. Why not just leave it as a .40? Several of us have switched TO the .40 for Production and IDPA duty.
  19. I know you are limited in your poll, but how can you omit Maud Adams? She was bond girl twice and appeard in THREE James Bond films.
  20. Actually if I remember correctly, Bruce Gray shot L-10 at the 2002 Factory Gun Nationals because John Amidon told him that it wasn't eligible for Production Division.
  21. It should be noted that only the frame has rusted. The slide and barrel are still ok.
  22. Hmm, let me see... what could it be??? <<<--- HINT, HINT ... Oh yeah, Halloween (almost a tie between 1 and 2). Actually, I like to watch them as one movie since 2 takes place immediately where one left off.
  23. As stated, the Caspian is a bit long from front to rear, however I think I may have accidentally discovered a fix for this. When EGW adds the checkering, they mill out the front strap and then weld on an insert. Well, I picked up a frame in his shot that was milled, but yet to have the insert added. The gun felt great. The front strap was rough, almost like a light stippling. It felt noticably thinner too. If your building a defense gun, might I recommend a 9x23? You can use the factory style magazines, get 19 + 1 capacity, and Winchester factory ammunition has some very impressive ballistics.
  24. That explains why there were once legal, and now they are not.
  25. Gunther, Not sure what to tell you. Check all the dimensions of the lips to see that they match a factory Caspian magazine. Other than that, maybe consider a welded mag from Bevon. You can use the top part of a 10 round magazine and weld that to the high cap. I've had 3 that were made this way (yes, I had WAY too many Caspian magazines). It's well worth it in the long run as you're not as competitive as you can be in Open without a big stick IMO. When I first started shooting high cap Open back in 1995, I wanted, no needed, a big stick to compete. I paid $200 for a complete welded mag from Craig. Was a well worthy inverstment and I've never regretted it.
