  1. I had a converted saiga I did myself with about $800-1000 in upgrades and it ran, ran, ran... Only problems I had were with smashed hulls in my mags on hot summer stages. Had to make sure to load up right before the stage. After a few years I wanted to try a tac-12 and did not like it at all. Recoiled much harder and had feed issues. No I just purchased an Origin 12 and it shoots much softer back like my saiga. "The Outdoor Office" or "Origin 12" Facebook page has a 100 rd test filmed straight through with ten mags. They have really ran it through the ringer. Now for competition it is HEAVY. You'd want to see about changing out the forearm at least. 10 rd mags and drums are readily available now.

    Sig MPX

Did you notice much difference with the brake?

Those with SBR's... What stock are you going with? I received the sig telescoping stock and was not impressed. It is really short (shorter than the pistol brace) and had some wiggle in it when locked up. I sent it back..
  4. I can't say enough about the Lone Wolf G9. https://www.lonewolfdist.com/Products.aspx?CAT=3682 Made a couple tweaks to match my .223 AR and is a joy. Bottom in the pic is the G9
  5. I had the first model of the JR and had feeding problems. It also did not take down like an AR at all. You had to remove 4-5 tiny allen head bolts as well as a screw holding the bolt catch on. I sold it and got the Lone Wolf carbine and did some parts swapping and couldn't be happier. Normal AR functions, runs 100%, looks much better.
  6. East Cleveland this morning... Warmed up a bit from the -21 it hit during my 6 am drive to work. Frozen bridges and frozen snow covered tires made for a disastrous commute...
  7. Nice! I wish i had the time for games. I bought a PS3 when they came out and like 4 games. I started my MBA the next week, then got married, then had two kids..... I have not yet played one game on it besides guitar hero when we had friends over once... Last shooting game I played was Bond on N64. Awesome game for its time! 4 player battles on a 60" were a blast!
  8. Anyone ever taken a class with Matt? http://drftraining.com/ He is coming to one of my local ranges in April for a two day class. While his focus certainly appears to be more tactical in nature as opposed to competitive it still looks like fun and I'm sure would improve some skills. Curious if anyone here has been to his training and opinions?
  9. As am I! Now who will get theirs first?... Anybody have a rough idea how many they put out a month?
  10. Update! The builder quickly responded through here last night that he has been out on medical leave and this was somehow allowed to slip through. Offered full refund or fix and refinish. I probably "jumped the gun" with this post. One addressed I will be a completely happy customer. Thanks to the large majority that helped me see I was not being overly critical. Yes the gun will get marked up, but no reason it should start out like it did.
  11. I took it out today and it ran perfectly. Yes it is already hard chromed. I can live with the blemishes but just wanted to understand from the masses if I should. Sounds like DBTN knows who this is and this may be usual for their shop. I just wish I would have known that as I never saw anything to that measure reading through this site and I was very close between two builders. I'll call them this week to discuss. They are on the forum here so I would imagine they would want to remedy rather than me posting a "Look at my new custom gun!" In the gallery..
  12. I just received my second custom build and was surprised by the machining / marks. What do you guys think? Is this acceptable on a $3400 gun? Maybe I'm just being anal. The marks stand out more in person than in phone pics. My first build with a different builder was cheaper and had perfect machine work... but maybe that was a rarity?
  13. I have the full length on both my competition AR's. Love the look, stability, and cheek weld/feel.
  14. I bought my 51679 off grabagun. Get on their list if its not in stock. Only took me about two weeks to get the notification email and "grab" it.
  15. I played around with my buddies RRA with mag adapter, owned a JR, and then bought the complete lone wolf G17 AR. Lone wolf is the way to go in my opinion. Has run perfectly and accutate. Mags fit great with no adapter. I swapped the stock for a fixed arfx and put on a long aluminum hand guard and it's good to go for 3 gun and carbine matches.
  16. Wow nice! Looks like a great deal. Why would anyone pay $100 more for the HP Edge (no slide lightening, only 1 mag, non textured grip).
  17. I've never tried it but maybe something like Remington Dri-lube aerosol.
  18. You are correct I have not receieved mine yet but the slide is getting its cuts now and should be off for hard chrome shortly. Benny and his team have been great to work with. He is very easy to talk to and explains things clearly to us laymans. They are not big into emailing but you can reach them easily by phone. I choose to have APS do my grip and send to him and he was fine with that.
  19. I did quite a bit of research here a few months ago on 6" builders and seemed to find a lot of praise for Benny Hill and his "fat free" builds. His lead time was at ~ three months back in November when I gave him my deposit! I also owned a Fusion 5" for a while and it was a great gun. I know he does quite a few 6" builds. They're lead time was much longer though back in 2010/2011.
  20. I got "mine" back after 6 weeks at RIA. They sent me a new pistol (no mention of what was wrong with my original pistol) with "reliability tuning" done by one their gunsmiths and tested for 300rds. Haven't had a chance to run it yet but really hope it runs now. I really like the feel and weight of the steel grip compared to my polymer grip STI 2011.
  21. My .02... If you like something regardless of platform and don't need the funds for something else keep em. I originally wanted to stick with similar platforms for comp, carry, nightstand, etc... but then just grew out of Glocks. Now have 2011's for comp, a sig for carry, and kept my prior tricked out G34 glock paired with a surefire for nightstand. It took me a few years but now believe I have my favorite lineups! Probably could use to get rid of a few less - purposefull guns but I have a problem with that...
