Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I run 1.130 with 5.0 gr and a MG 180 in a Glock 35, Chrono'd 171.5 at Area 1 last month. I was stuck with magnum primers and didn't change my load as i felt they still shot a a nice level, but once I find some SPP's I'll go back to them and keep the load the same, probably going down to 167+.
  2. Well crap I've only ever used Titegroup/N320 and have been digging around to see what most other people use -- turns out I am already there. Currently using 4.4gr at 1.130 with Montana Gold 180 CMJ, but I believe it's so close to the line of major that I'm afraid to use it at a major match and have been trying to determine if I want a new powder or try pushing the charge up a little more. I've also thought of moving the 180 JHP with a similar load and length, which because it's a little longer may raise the pressure up just enough to more reliably make major.
  3. Whoa ok this changes everything so I need to verify. I currently shoot a Gen 3 35 in limited and production, and just had a thought.. I considered purchasing a new G4 35 to replace mine, but it sounds like you are saying I can take my 35 upper and put it on my Gen4 Glock22 lower? is this correct? That would 'technically' put me into Open because the serial numbers wouldn't' match right (not that any local matches would really care).
  4. Factory ammo should easily make major. I shot WWB in my 35 and got a PF of 180+. My reloads are considerably softer since I shoot for a PF of 170. I chrono'd Federal Champion 180 grain plated bullets (cheap walmart stuff) last month at exactly 180 PF. Winchester White Box was slightly faster at around 1025FPS (184PF). I'm shooting Production right now so mine are MUUUCH softer -- 833 FPS so around 150PF. But yeah, you should be fine with factory and definitely with Federal/Winchester walmart ammo. edit: and this was all out of a Gen3 35.
  5. Wow, well I had no idea... it's just down the street actually. son of a gun.... maybe I'll just go walk in there.
  6. Just wanted to say hello! I've recently started shooting a lot more often at my local range (Plantation / Bellingham), and on the suggestion from someone there I went and spectated at my first match at Custer last week. I had a great time just watching and helping reset stages, and met some really nice people. I'll be starting on my safety check tomorrow and if I can manage to find a holster and the rest of my needed gear I just may be ready for the next match. Finding something in stock for a lefty is proving more difficult than I expected, but I hope to have something ready to shoot production soon! Lets see, anything else -- I grew up here in rural Washington so I've always been around guns (mainly duck/grouse/pigeon hunting), and over the last few years I've been doing archery deer season as well (although I've only managed to fill the freezer once in the last three years).
