Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. It's all about practice. We shoot year 'round here in Seattle and the rain isn't as big an issue as those 90+F days with that really bright sun shining everywhere. <sarcasm> Gortex and back up clothes, combined with layering, including a brimmed hat, to shed the water and keep the insulating layers dry is your key. 2. Let them use their dominant eye. I am also Left eye dominant, but right handed. I shoot pistol righty by turning my head every so slightly to the right. This lines up the sights correctly and they will do it instinctively. I have always shot pistols righty. When I started with shotguns, we immediately identified the cross domination. Switching to shooting lefty worked better than shading my left eye and forcing my right eye to take over. All things being equal, I'd rather shoot long guns righty, as more guns are biased for rightys, but I played around with both rifles and shotguns for a while before settling in lefty. It just worked better for me, especially with movement, like for trap and skeet. Rifle target shooting was OK righty, if I covered my left eye, but I made the decision to shoot all long guns lefty, as I could do it with both eyes open. It's all very natural and works well. Training my left hand trigger finger was simple. I spent a lot of time treating a click style pen like a trigger; Click-click, click-click. . . . . . jack
  3. Pretty soon I suspect a fair bit of all that overbought stuff will start showing up for sale, hopefully at a good price because I'm already looking for it. <grin>
  4. They are good solid pistols. Bersa is the supplier for Argentia's police and military pistols. They is inexpensive partially because of the exchange rate. Full disclosure: I carry a Bersa BP9cc.

    Sig P238 for CCW

My wife just got hers last Friday, after shooting at least 15, .380 and 9mm guns. She selected the P238 for two reasons; it really fit her hand as was comfortable to shoot and also, it was one of the few weapons she could repeatedly rack 100% of the time. She has slightly arthritic hands and has trouble racking almost every other gun she has tried. She practiced for months with my son's airsoft pistols to get the muscle memory going, but still could not muster the strength. She loves that P238. I couldn't get her to stop shooting it on Saturday. Happy Day for me!
  6. The last time my wife and I went to the range, I start unloading the gear and notice she is not helping. I look around. She got out of the car at an emply bay and was out on the range looking for brass. I dared not say I trainer her well, but I love her intentions.
