Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. How tight did the 5/32 rods fit? I got tungsten rods, and they are an extremely tight fit...I don't want to pound them into the frame just to find out they don't fit all the way, or that then middle piece wont fit, or that not the magazines don't fit.
  2. Answered my own quesiton; 2.5" long for the tungsten rods. Got the grip module in the mail today...it's pretty awesome. Deeper thumb rests makes a big difference when reaching the mag release. I was using a small size X-Carry frame previously, and the WC is an improvement. I'll use the WC frame for every day carry, but I'll keep the X-Carry frame for competition (already have the magwell installed).
  3. I've got one arriving tomorrow...excited to see how it feels. For the tungsten rods, what length are you guys finding them that fit the grip? Seems like Wilson should sell a set, especially if they are going to advertise it as a feature.
  4. I love that stuff. I cut out little shapes and put it on my Pmags, it works great.
  5. WOW, great job! Can you do mine for $100 bucks? I barely have enough time do it for my own guns! I thought it would be difficult when I first started, but it really is very easy.
  6. I don't measure either...Usually don't need very much of it, and I still have some left over, so I just put some on my tool handles. I think I have every hammer and screw driver I own done at this point
  7. Using a zip lock bag is a really great idea...I just use a latex glove and my finger. The trick is to spread the Marine-Tex on very thin; too much and it wont texture properly.
  8. I just finished my Glock 34. It is a Gen3 frame. I removed the front finger grooves using a dremmel, a rasp, and fine grit sandpaper. I added a beavertail using Marine-Tex epoxy, then shaped it with the same tools. I cut a high trigger guard for my strong hand, and then I experimented with another finger cut for my support hand, which turned out very nicely. I think I might round over the edges of the trigger guard cuts later, but right now they feel good. Frame is textured with Marine-Tex, which I made a little more aggressive. I did not remove any front or back material, so the JP magwell still fits. Finally, the grip is air brushed with Duracoat Glock Black to blend it all together. It turned out very well. I can take a few more higher-res pics if needed; theses are just cell phone pics.
  9. I have done a few glocks...It is exactly the same method. I am working on my 34 right now. You have two options; use an iron like Gman and others, or use an epoxy resin to add the texture. I generally use a product called Marine-Tex. It is a little tough to work with at first (practice a lot on something unimportant like hand tool grips), but has awesome results. If you go the resin route, you can add a beavertail, reduce the back strap, or add finger grooves to fit your hand. As far as the high trigger cut, dremel is the best way, or hand rasps/files. I will post pics once I have finished my 34.
  10. I work for a very large FFL, and we have been quoted an expected delivery day of late summer. When I spoke with the Tac Sol reps at SHOT, they weren't expecting them to ship until winter 2011. I ordered one of their 1911 22 conversions for myself a few years ago, and ended up waiting over 6 months. I got tired of waiting, and ordered one from a Gunbroker seller, arrived in 3 days. They make a great product, but they take forever to deliver product. I am starting to suspect they only have 1 CNC machine, and crank out 1 item per day. I also know they are perfectionists, so they won't release a product until it is 100%.
  11. I have a JP magwell on my Gen3 34 with no issues. Do you have a Gen 3, or a Gen 4? I could see that being an issue, because the magwell won't fit on my Gen4 17. It is a tight fit on my 34, but I don't have any issues like you are having. I don't think you should have remove any material from the magwell, but maybe you could try another magwell if possible. Or, give JP a call and see if they have anything to say. I know from experience that they have tolerance issues with their AR's, so maybe that translates across their entire product line.
  12. You been shooting at Rio? Tried out Tuesday Night Steel yet? I was out at PRGC Feb 24th for the steel match. My work schedule keeps me from going to Rio Tuesday nights. I will most likely go to the USPSA match at SGC on Wednesday evenings on a regular basis.
  13. That's exactly what I thought...just wanted so see if anyone else had tried it. It would most likely be a semi-permanent change over, so swapping internals is no problem. Thanks!
  14. CompTac makes holsters to fit guns w/lights. I am not sure if they are paddle, though. Just google "comp tac holsters", since it won't let me post a link.
  15. A crazy idea popped into my head yesterday... I currently shoot a G34 in Minor Limited, and I would like to step up to Major. Instead of buying a G35, couldn't I just pick up a LW G35 slide and barrel? I am pretty sure it would work, but I am not 100% sure. The main reason I don't want to get an entire new gun is that I love the custom grip on my G34 frame, and I would hate to pay to duplicate it on another gun. Just trying to save a few hundred bucks. Has anyone done this?
