How many of you are going to shoot the Kentucky match then go to the Cup?

Hey guys I am looking into shooting the IRC this year but I've never shot a ICORE match before. I won a entry to the IRC at last years Bianchi cup and I figured it's a sign to try something new. I'm wondering about classifications. Since I've never shot ICORE will I be put into the Unclassifed class and compete against the High Masters??? Also, given the choice to shoot a 4" 6-shot SSR, 6" 6-shot 686 or a giant PPC Model 68, what would be the best for me to use as a first timer? And can I use .38 SWC to compete with? Thanks in advance for any advice you can provide. D

I also think Top Shot did a lot of good for the shooting sports. The only beef I had with the show was the last couple of seasons casting. Most of the people on the show admitted to never shooting a competition before going on the show. I think it ruins the idea of the show "TOP SHOT" when you have a participant of the show admit he is just a plain ole' knife maker. The first couple of seasons were better because you had people that were competitors going head to head with weapons that put them out of their comfort zone. We already knew they could perform great under pressure, but could they adapt their basic marksmanship skills to new weapons. In my opinion the first season was the best.

Have you thought about have the Springfield custom shop work on it? I've had them work on my XD's and my 5.25. I been thrilled with every gun they've worked on. Not to mention if anything breaks they cover it.

With less the 25 days untill fisrt shot, we have been a little busy. It would be our opinion, that a exceedingly large majority of the Production Divison Firearms Manufacturers have some type of adjustable sight available, which would mean that, all they need to do is fit in the firearm without an external modification. NRA Pistol Dept I'll take that as a "Nuff said" statement. Thank you.

Here is my predicament. I have the above gun that I hope is good to go. I am a new competitor to Bianchi so there is a HUGE draw for me to compete for the newcomer award in Prod. I have already paid for my entry, flight, hotel, rental car and will pay to have my gear sent out to the hotel. I bought the M&P because I know that some top Prod shooters use it and I like the ergos. I don't have another gun that qualifies for Prod. I can't buy another gun before the Cup. I do have a gun that would qualify in Metallic but I'm only going to be a new Cup shooter once. So it would be REALLY nice if we could get some clarification on this while there is enough time to make changes or at least give me a chance to beg and borrow a gun from a friend. Once again thanks for any feedback.

Ok I will ask this question directly to you Jay. I'll be very specific. I would rather hear bad news now and have enough time to make proper changes to my gun before I fly halfway across the nation just to find out the gun I spent money on is DQ'd. I have a Smith & Wesson M&P Pro 9mm. The gun shot 6" low out of the box even with different types/weights of ammo. After reading the aforementioned email string, I bought a Novak elevation only adjustable rear sight that fit without any modification to my gun. The gun finally hits POA/POI at the 25 yard line now. Is this gun going to be DQ'd? Thanks in advance for your feedback.

I know that I'm new to this but it seems that if a any competitor is able to use an item on his gun then that same item should be allowed for any other competitor regardless of Brand name. What's good for the goose is good for the gander. I don't see the big deal with rear adjustable sights for production anyways. Are there really any production shooters that are constantly changing their adjustable sights at every yard line? I am just looking for a way to get my M&P to shoot dead on at the 25. I'll adjust myself around the gun after that. Meanie

Just to clarify. I have not made any alterations to MY gun. I have stock sights on my pistol and I have taken the front sight down to where it now shoots POA/POI @ 25 yards. If that is considered altering the weapon then I guess I'm screwed but the gun shot 6" low out of the box. The sights are not adjustable but I had to get it to shoot POA or it's of no value to me. My friend has been in contact with the NRA and I'm assuming that he is going with what they told him and will put the rear adjustable on. His gun shot 7" low @ 25 out of the box. Personally I think if any pistol in the Prod. class is allowed to have a rear adjustable then all pistols in the class should be allowed to have one. If you are talking about a certain class then the same rule should apply to ALL pistols in that class. It should not be broken down by what one manufacture puts on their guns and one that doesn't. I'm not going to make a big deal about this since it usually only takes one person to end up messing things up for everyone. It would be nice to throw that rear on my gun and KNOW that I can get it shoot POA/POI at the 25 and the 50 but I won't chance paying all the $ for flights, reg, rental car, and hotel to just get there and find out the gun I've been practicing with is disqualified. Just my $.02

Okay so being the cheapie that I am, I went out and filed down the front sight today. It didn't take much. I now have a POA/POI pistol at the 25 yard line. I used a blue pen to clean up the top and now I'm good to go. The only crappy thing is that the gun still shoots 7" low at the 50 yard line. That might not make a difference to most folks but I'm going to use this pistol for competition. I was shooting Federal 147 gr JHP. I'm just going to have to adjust at the 50. Meanie

Fixed Novak or adjustable. Fixed should be no problem. Adjustable I don't see how they can allow it unless they issue another Bianchi only variance like they did with aftermarket barrels last year. I don't have a problem with them doing that since I don't think it's fair (the adjustable sights) to Smith and other manufacturers that don't offer adjustable sights on their duty guns. Heck the only reason Glock did was to allow importation into the country. I just hope if they're gonna do it they put the word out sooner rather than a month before the match. Adjustable. I'm not going to bother with putting one on my M&P. I went out today and took a little off of the front sight so it would hit POA at 25 yards. Better safe than sorry.

Has anyone here put this front sight on their gun? Like everyone else (it seems) my 9 Pro shoots Atlantic Arms 115 gr. JHP 6" low. I'm considering running the plain old black .160 Dawson Precision front sight on it but I would really like to hear from someone that might have already installed it and got results.
