  1. I wear Peltor TacSports, the sound quality closely rivals the Sordins I have worn and they only cost around $100. They are light and comfortable, and I forget they are on. They even have a jack for plugging in Ipods or a timer. The TacSports are like the step up from the Pro 6's.

Avoid the $30 Remington ear muffs, the sound quality is terrible and usually only in one ear. Not to mention they are usually huge.

  2. Work on not looking at your gun when you reload. It is difficult to do and I catch myself doing it sometimes. Your eyes should be up acquiring your next target. That should help out your speed.

I'm going to have to disagree with Pelican82. You want to look that mag into the gun. Get it done smooth and fast then find your target(you should KNOW where it is through good planning anyway). Plan your reloads with your movement as much as possible. In Production a good school of thought is to reload whenever your foot leaves the ground unless you have a good reason not to.

I agree with you that a quick visual reference should be made to insure you have everything properly lined up right before you lock in a mag, even possibly using your peripheral vision to do this. I don't see other experienced shooters looking at their pistols with their head down the entire time they are reloading though.

  3. They make ambi mag releases for Glocks, but I hear they are iffy. Never used one though. In the meantime you can simply release the mag with your right pointer finger by reaching around in front of the grip. That way you do not break your master grip. For releasing the slide simply slingshot it with your right hand.

  4. Possible your long arms could be slowing you up I guess. Your brain signal also has a longer distance to travel not just more muscle mass to manipulate and control.

  5. I would say as long as an individual shows dedication to do as much as I can to help them out. Maybe instead of letting him borrow your equipment, you tell him that you are going to "sponsor" or "stake him" until he can get all his gear. Tell him you get 50% of the prize money from his winnings and endorsements :D

I doubt that any reasonable person would have a problem with someone shooting a .22 as long as the scores are not officially taken and the safety rules are observed.

  6. Work at eliminating the shuffle steps while in a shooting position. Use a wider and lower stance which allows you to smoothly and aggressively move your upper body left/right without needing to pick up or move your feet. Another thing to consider is that you are losing a lot of time on your target to target transitions. Your splits on target are fast, but your transition from target to target is slow.

Thank you, that was the feedback I was looking for. I will work on my foot work when shooting in tight spaces, and my target transitions.

    nice shooting dood,

your shoulders look super tense, working on removing tension from your platform will also help you increase your speed.

how long you been shooting uspsa style matches?

That was my second USPSA match, but I have been shooting for about 2 years now. I have spent a lot of time on the range and just try to emulate what I see the Pro's do.

Thank you for the tip, I do look tense now that I watch the video. I will have to see how I can relax my shoulders while shooting.

  8. Caffeine and smoking constrict blood vessels in the eyes which can affect eye sight and tracking.

Apples are like natures caffeine. If you eat an apple it will help jump start you out of sluggishness. I recommend only quality Washington Apples.
