  1. Have to say, the heat sucked the life out of me and I had the most horrible match I've shot in a long time. That being said, Squad 11 was awesome! I still had a blast. Met some great new friends and got to hang out with some old ones. Already planning a new training program to get better for next year! I will be back!
  2. Out of the box, I'd have to give the edge to the 1301. Sent from my RM-820_nam_att_100 using Board Express
  3. Welcome! Lots of good people on this board and lots of good shooting spots neat you. If you don't mind a little drive, head down to Lexington to the Bluegrass Sportmans League. We do IDPA, USPSA, Steel Challenge and 3-gun! Check out www.bgslinc.com for our calendar. We would live to have you come down! Sent from my RM-820_nam_att_100 using Board Express
  4. Mine came an improved cylinder choke. I bought Carlson extended choke for it since they're easier to swap out. Sent from my RM-820_nam_att_100 using Board Express
  5. With Winchester AA, I can get 10 but others only 9. Think I may go to a +7 tube just to be safe. Sent from my RM-820_nam_att_100 using Board Express
  6. After shooting the Rockcastle match, I'm probably going to have some smoothing done around the loading port, in front of the trigger guard and possibly take the sides of the loading port down just a bit more to allow for quad loading. Going to talk it over with Pike at Mod 1 Firearms when I get a chance. Sent from my RM-820_nam_att_100 using Board Express
  7. I got mine from Bud's Gun Shop. They seem to be stocking them both in store and online. Sent from my RM-820_nam_att_100 using Board Express
  8. As a follow-up, on the last stage of the Pro-Am, the bolt release lever came off of mine. It looks like the screw worked lose during the match. Luckily the RO spotted it in the dump barrel. I would advise a little loctite in the screw. Other than that, really happy with the gun! Sent from my RM-820_nam_att_100 using Board Express
  9. Finished shooting the match yesterday and have to say, it is still the highlight of my shooting year! Thanks to Gary and all of the staff for a smooth match! Thanks to Rockcastle and the sponsors for putting on the match! It was great to see all the people again and to shoot some great stages. Now the wait until February to register begins!
  10. Just finished 4 stages at the Pro-Am today, including the 23 round shotgun stage. The 1301 ran without a hitch! Now, if I can just learn to count and not try to load 2 shells into a full shotgun, I will be all set. Sent from my RM-820_nam_att_100 using Board Express
  11. A second on the Carleson's. Just got mine in yesterday! Sent from my RM-820_nam_att_100 using Board Express
  12. I bought two L2/6 CA rigs the day I bought it. Works pretty well. Might need a little bit of additional work to really slick it up. I don't think any manufacturer is going to be as aggressive as we might be. Since I just started dropping deuces, I may not be the best judge but it is faster than my unmodded SLP. Sent from my RM-820_nam_att_100 using Board Express
  13. That's how it came out of the box. It could probably be a little more aggressive, especially for L2 but really nice for being factory setup. Sent from my RM-820_nam_att_100 using Board Express
  14. I'll be shooting it at the Pro-am. Be happy to let anyone check it out. Bring your own shells though. Sent from my RM-820_nam_att_100 using Board Express
  15. Figured without pics, this wouldn't be a cool thread. Opened up loading port. Oversized bolt handle and bolt release. Overall with the Nordic +5 and added the stock extensions that came with the gun.
  16. Went to a local gun store on Thursday looking for a new VersaMax and walked out with one of the new Beretta 1301 Comp shotguns! Hadn't heard a whole lot about these but I decided to grab it. It's one of the 24" models and I was impressed with the way it was setup out of the box. The price seemed right, so I pulled the trigger. Ran over to Shooter's Connection and got a Nordic +5 tube for it and it looks ready to go. Took it out to the range today and ran 100 rounds through it at clays setup on the berm at various ranges. I only had the factory IC choke in it, but overall it seems pretty good. The first shells I put through it were Winchester AA Light loads (1145 FPS) and it ran like a top. Ran some Federal bulk pack through it as well. No hiccups, no failures and the recoil was really nice. A lot less recoil than a Benelli. Little more recoil than my SLP but not enough to notice. After sitting around this afternoon, my shoulder isn't sore. The gun seemed to cycle really fast and without any way to really measure, it seemed a little faster on transitions than my SLP. Overall, I'm really excited about this gun and am looking forward to running it next week at Rockcastle!
  17. Another vote for the CMC. Absolutely love the flat trigger! Sent from my RM-820_nam_att_100 using Board Express
  18. Awesome match! Thanks gain for setting it up! Sent from my RM-820_nam_att_100 using Board Express
  19. I've shot a friend of mine's MTAC and liked it. Just trying to do a sanity check before pulling the trigger.
  20. So I'm considering changing scopes on my 3-gun rifle. I've been running a Vortex Viper PST 1-4 for about 6 months now and I'm thinking about downgrading to a Burris MTAC/TAC-30. The reasoning is the simplified reticle. It seems like I'm having to do a lot more "thinking" on close in targets than I really need to using this scope and the simpler reticle in the Burris seems like it would be easier for target acquisition. Specifically, remembering to raise my sites for close up targets and also for acquiring long distance targets. Has anyone used both and could give me an opinion? Am I being silly by trading in a higher priced scope?
  21. I would definitely be interested in something like that but as someone stated earlier, finding one is going to be the issue. <rant> That really seems to be the issue with anything gun related these days. Of course all of the pro shooters get them and then we want to check them out but it takes 2-3 years before they really become available. That's just plain frustrating. </rant>
  22. Thanks. I ordered the Brownell's ones. Sent from my RM-820_nam_att_100 using Board Express
  23. Anyone know where I can find some of the Fiocchi 12 ga. Dummy Rounds for loading practice? These things seem to be harder to find than regular ammo? I'd like to start working on some different loading techniques and can't bring myself to buy 5 or 6 packs of the Snap Caps.
