  1. I'm with you brother, muzzle down all the way. Also low ready as start position instead of port arms for the same reasons and now with a HOT gun, but also as I fail to see which scenario we are trying to simulate, being attacked during weapons inspection?
  2. Bill, no one is saying that we don't fix people's scores, but when I enter them I don't stop to find out peoples phone numbers, hunt them down, and get an answer, I have 60 more score sheets to deal with. If the shooter sees his division as being wrong when published they have about 2-3 weeks to contact me and get it fixed. So as far as customer services goes, turns out the customer is not always right.
  3. We need more info, but start by numbering you mags and keep track if it is consistently the same mag giving you problems. Next check your extractor, take the slide off the gun, remove barrel, place and EMPTY case under the extractor on the breach face as it would be under normal conditions. Did it take a LOT of force to get the case in there? If move the slide around rotating it in all directions does the case stay under the extractor? What if you shake the slide gently?
  4. Here is a little something though .. Try hitting at 400 yards with a red dot, it kicks my ass mostly because i don't have a good cant indicator, which I can have with scopes or irons. I'm actually considering shooting the longer stages with the irons through the red dot because of it. You can be all mad at red dots, but apparently they have a role. Additionally I've been shooting one in Tac Optics in the last year because where I live most matches will have ONE long range stage, and 6 or more "close up" ones and I shoot better with a dot then a scope under 50yards. If I lived out west where more long range stages where more common I'd probably go back to scope, but in the mid-Atlantic area I don't see why.
  5. Ok so I "cheated" and instead of engaging in my 4th favorite activity (arguing on the internet), I went and asked my favored NROI instructor. His answer is Open/Minor is the appropriate answer if neither was marked. If a power factor was declared then use the declared power factor.
  6. I'm not making my own rules. They key words in the rule are " in the opinion of the Range Master, most closely identifies with the competitor’s equipment." So seeing how no one is going to shoot a gun that fits in no division without anyone noticing, I'm using my opinion to decided his gun best identified as Open/Minor. How am I breaking the rules? Look at it in a different light, Open/minor is the LEAST advantageous combination for the shooter, in the best case scenario thats what he actually shot, in every other case he pays the price for not bothering to fill in the score sheet. He is not screwing anyone else, because the MOST he can be doing is competing in Open, with an open gun shooting minor so his score is fair, or he is competition with a gun which is LESS competitive in Open in which case no one else in Open is getting screwed either. The shooter him/herself is at worst getting screwed out shooting in the correct division, but not getting screwed out of paying a match fee and not even seeing his time and hits later. How is this wrong, by rules, or fairness, or karma, or whatever?
  7. The real problem is during a match where 6.2.5 works fine when I can look at the equipment, the problem is after the match when you are crunching scores. My answer is always open/minor.

Brian, do you plan to shoot the Glock in limited or a foray into Production?
  9. I wouldn't consider an internal lock a safety mechanism - it's a lock. If you remove it, you are still in compliance with 21.1: • ALL factory safety mechanisms, whether internal or external, must remain functional. I agree, that was kinda my point, made poorly.
  10. You can replace the MSH easy enough, or you can remove the ILS components from the existing MHS. It takes all of 5min.
  11. Only if they are shooting naked now.
  12. I would look at the ML3 or the Pro models as the offer a 2moa dot, instead of the 4moa on the ML2. The smaller dot helps at longer ranges.
  13. I think you are confused. The issue we are asking about here boils down to the following conundrum: Can I install a internal part that does not replace an existing one? Lets look at the rules: The key words here are "parts may be modified or replaced – either with OEM or aftermarket parts." The problem is that the RAM is not a modified part OR a replacement in a gun that doesn't have the extra safety stuff in it. If the gun you purchased included the internal lock which fits inside the same space as the RAM, replacing the internal lock with the RAM is a no brainer, you are replacing an internal part with an aftermarket one which is perfectly allowed by the rules. You are not disabling an externally operable safety so you are good to go. In the case of the models without the internal lock, the rules still allow me to replace the entire sear block with one that does include an internal lock, after all I'm using OEM parts for an approved model. So far I haven't cheated or broken any rules. Next I replace the internal lock with the RAM which is also allowed because I'm replacing a OEM part with an aftermarket part. Where is the cheating?
  14. I've been very happy with my Jennings JS-50XV. 0.1gn accuracy, every time I recalibrate it and checked its measurements with a balance beam model it has been true. It is also cheap and I think I'm still on the same set of batteries after 2 years, but I only use it to check the dillon measure every now and then.
  15. Thanx, I want to see if I can snag a few of the new ones somewhere, if they actually exist. I know Apex will modify exiting ones for $25 but I rather just get new ones.
  16. Out of curiosity, is this the sear block with larger sear spring hole and spring? And I assume it does include the spring and plunger? Also which brownells stock number?
  17. How is this for creative rule interpretation. ... You can add and remove parts from other approved models. You can replace factory parts. Ok then .. Buy the lock parts, put them in Pro or L, take them back out, install RAM.
  18. I've used rice last time I cleaned up a few 1000's of 223 cases. Rice came out of the cases just fine using the Dillon separator thingie. Basically I kept rolling them in the cage until no more rice came out of it, 30 or so spins.
  19. I've seen a bunch of GSG9's fall apart. I'm currently a big fan of the Bates M9 boots but they are being discontinued, so I guess when I run out of my current 3 pairs I stashed away I'll have to do research all over again. http://www.lapolicegear.com/bam99deasbo.html
  20. You wont get dinged in your credit report for $7. What usually happens is that they hire a credit collection agency who pays their guys $20 per hour to call people. The credit collection agency probably has flat contract with them, and it is cheaper for them to just send them $7 and not pay they guy that makes phones calls to waste his time.
  21. Thread drift: why would you ever shoot with a rev limiter? In a car a rev limiter may prevent you from damaging your engine. I guess my mental rev limiter is there to keep me from screwing up my match buy picking no shoots or misses. Of course like any rev limiter it is probably a bit overly cautious likely to keep me from performing at my maximum. Maybe it needs more fine tuning, or perhaps a complete removal. After all we are racing and I'm not sure race cars have rev limiters. Does that make any sense?
  22. As a computer guy, reading those responses you got from Midway looks like a clever Eliza algorithm. I'm not actually sure if you were email back and forth with a real person or an automated system, so I guess yay for Turing Tests!
  23. And I just got the results back for the match. I came in 11 out of 130 or so in tacoptics, so it seems that removing self imposed limits might be a good thing. I'm pretty sure that Brian has some incredibly insightful zen koan at the ready for this
