  1. Sure, but given two matches of equal quality on the same weekend do you pick the one with no scores or the one with stuff on a table? Easy, I'd pick the one that offered the most challenge to my skill level. Well, the good news is that in my case, everything is challenging Tbh, it shoot FNH for flattened bottle caps, it is a very good match.

  3. This is true but Realtree camo is way different from military uniforms. not really ... there are hundreds of patterns out there, some military, some civilian. Some look alike some don't. And then there are a ton of military patterns, some officially adopted, some not. Are you saying multicam is no go because some elite unite somewhere had it issued, but a-tacs or whatever is ok because hasn't been approved so really it is a civilian pattern then? And then you have woodland which looks like a million different camo patterns. How about .. african tiger stripe, is that ok? Plain green wool pants that used to be issued by everyone and their mother? How about plain green socks? How about hunting camo that someone thinks looks too military? Do match directors and RO's get issued a world camo recognition book? It is all nonsense. What you are trying to regulate against is an attidude of wannabe soldiers. You can't do that based on camo, because they can wear tan pants and black tshirts and a ball cap and feel all operator about it so are you going to ban casual friday wear? We need to worry less about what people wear.
  4. There are people who wear camo 24/7. They just like their real tree or whatever. I don't judge people by their clothes, most of the time I'm just thankful if they wear pants, without concern for the color of the pants.
  5. I see that you are not familiar with how we work this sewing circle.
  6. Oh, I don't know, now I can just make up whatever rules I want at my match. If anyone asks, I'll point at the nationals. PS: Next match at CJ, everyone must wear top hats and pink umbrellas. However, you can choose to reshoot if the pink umbrella gets in your way.
  7. From here: https://www.uspsa.org/classifiers/Intro.pdf Basically if you run a USPSA branded match, you get to pay an activity fee. If the match has no classifier then $1.50 per shooter, if it does $3 per shooter. I'd say in your case you would owe $3 for anyone who shot it and maybe $1.50 for those who haven't, but who knows, they might want $3 because the classifier was there, regardless if it was shot or not.
  8. Larue's resetting targets? A bit spendy though. The modern answer is electronic sensors on the back of targets. Probably.

  10. I do, I have a odd little pattern. I use an RCBS X-die for sizing. I currently manually trim my brass on a RCBS trim-pro. What I have done is set the trimmer to slightly under spec min length, and the x-die to slightly over. I trim my cases first, then size the and they grow a bit but the x-die controls that. Note that because of the x-die I only do this once, whern the brass is once fired, and after it is used 3-4 times I chuck the brass. I woulnd't do secondary trimming this way.
  11. Or not Well I've ignored this for a couple of years, but did we have a rule book fight recently? Nothing gets the blood going like a good argument over new rule books.
  12. And that makes sense, but maybe then we should fix the rule book to allow for this.
  13. Well making it fair is why kinda the point of a rule book. I don't conceptually disagree with a notion of a optional reshoot under certain circumstances, but if we have a rule book then we should .. you know .. kinda sorta follow it, maybe at the national at least.
  14. We seen a couple of people nearly bouncing their shotguns out of the barrels. I dunno if it was the tube length or the enthusiasm.
  15. I'd get beaten up for doing that at a level 1 match.
  16. I'd think the right answer is to call every hit, and if the shooter forgets to engage one that is his problem.
  17. The advice I give new shooters is that you can't have too much ammo, unless you are swimming.
  18. This is pretty cool stuff, and it makes perfect sense. I am curious though, how much is this an issue on brands other then Benelli's ? Is it a problem likely to happen on other brands? Logically, I guess so as the mechanics are the same, but in practice is this an issue for say a Versamax or Mossberg, or are their assembly procedures less likely to lead to this issue?
  19. I disagree. I've run majors and run both USPSA pistol and 3Gun locally. I get more help for set-up at every match we run than the USPSA pidtol match, which still has a slight edge on shooter numbers. Any USPSA pistol stage can be shot with pistol/rifle. Add some steel and or clays, and you are on to 3Gun. Most of the local 3Gun matches we have run have been in pistol berms. Some of the most challenging 3Gun stages I have seen have been in the pistol berms. Also, the short courses are somewhat beneficial to the new shooters with an M4 and a CCW pistol. A few weeks ago, I ran a 3Gun match with steel and paper. We had 4 USPSA pistol shooters show up and shoot the entire match with their USPSA pistol. Just takes some imagination. I'm not sure that we actually disagree. I think that you are right that you can run a 3gun match in a pistol bay world, but not at every range does that actually exist. I've seen a few ranges where the layout just doesn't work. You still need to add some 3gun specific challanges such as a lot more steel or clay holders or something to make shotgun worth brining out. For my clubs it actually would work just fine, but I would have the much bigger challenge of convincing the old timer that 3gun shooting is not the work of the devil. They already think USPSA is mad crazy stuff and the only reason I can run the match is that it was there before any of the were elected on the board.
  20. Well the one thing that USPSA matches have going for them is that they require a lot less range then a 3 gun match. USPSA pistol matches require less props, less distance, less berms, less club or range buy in, etc. Basically it is a lot easier to get a USPSA match going and keep it running then a 3gun match. I've been considering changing the monthly USPSA pistol match I run to some form of multigun and the first two big problems that might be impossible to solve is convincing the club to let me shoot rifles in the pistol pits (which would be fine, the berms are very good) and figuring out how to use the short pits in interesting ways as I'm pretty sure the club won't let me use more of the range then I already do. Basically, at the local level, 3gun is a lot harder to get going.
  21. Yeah but again I say more money. I mean, that prize table at FNH, dear fuzzy lord .. When 3 guns are involved there is a lot more room for manufacturers to sell product. Almost every gun manufacturer can sell you something that might work. Everyone can sell you something for one of the guns. Comparing that with pistol only, it makes a lot more sense to throw money at 3gun if you want your name out there.
  22. There is always Amazon. MTAC in stock, $375.
