  1. You know, I've been privately and semi-publicly harping on about the need for a "USPSA nook", basically a practisore device that doesn't depend on the refresh cycle of book sellers. The more I think about this, I think the action sports, all of them (USPSA, IDPA, 3gn, etc, etc) should get together and talk to some manufacturers and develop of a technical solution to some of these problems. A well designed system that allows reliable communications between a seprate timer, a scoring devices and a display would be very nice, and if designed right you could buy the bits you want when you want, and upgrade components when you need to. On match day you pair the 3 devices for each stage, adhoc wifi can feed the results between the 3 and back to the stats staff. Yes it would cost money, but what doesn't? If done right, clubs that run multiple disciplines would only need one set and if each component can be replaced (and software upgraded) while maintaining integration then over time the price would be meaningless. It wouldn't be required, but major matches would be an obivious first step. Heck, you could have clubs buy setups like this as major matches rotate to different locations out the Area match money or something. I know, its a pipe dream, but not one that can't be made reality if the various disciplines make an effort to cooperate.
  2. Mark, I also thing some people, no matter how good they are, can be .. how shall put this .. shooting hipsters? Some people don't like it when too many people invade their sport. We see this at various levels from club on up, I think.
  3. Ask for a different RO, I would even call the MD/RM if I had to. I remember from my RO class that a recurring theme was that as an RO you are there to make the shooters experience smooth and pleasant, and personally I would have no problem stepping back if a shooter asked for someone else to run them instead of me. If the RM/MD says no, I'd ask why not, what is the problem with having a "hot spare" RO or even the RM RO you for a stage?
  4. I have the opposite problem, I'm so used to USPSA hot draws, that when I shoot empty chamber 3gun I almost always forget to rack my slide.
  5. Was this on a dare? Was this a challange that ended up with sex if you won? What?
  6. Dicks seems to stock the 3500 for $449 around here, dunno if they stock the 3000 or if they can order it, or if you one around you.
  7. Nah man, you learn to reload faster because you don't like reloading. Why spend more time then you need to doing something that needs doing but you don't really want to do?
  8. I'm just here to help Seriously though, I think you are overdoing the equipment care. By all means, if you feel better doing it, keep doing it, you need to have confidence in your ammo and if that helps then go for it, but I suspect it is more then it is needed.
  9. I found your problem. Your are making love to your ammo, and I commend you for taking your time to do that, it is gentleman like, but really if you just want to make ammo, just make ammo. I clean my press whenever I change calibers so ... maybe a couple of times a year? I almost never gauge check my ammo, I'm pretty sure it won't be bigger then what it takes to fit in the dies (I do check my rifle ammo because I have a tendency to mess up case mouths), I leave powder in the hopper until I chage the type of powder I use, I clean my dies when I change calibers or they look like they need it. I load about 400rd an hour on a 550 with no case feeder, manually indexed, and I pick up my primers with a tube by hand.
  10. As one who has OFTEN critisized the way Amidon rules on things, I also see the point of the position in general. Without it you have two choices, either you get a new rule every year clarifing something or other, or you end up with local interpretations of rules. I do see the point of official clarifications by the rules guru, I'm just not sure we have the right guru anymore.
  11. Heh. Well .. Anyway .. I foresee this getting very amusing. I can imagine a scenario where flashlights without bulbs are legal, but the battery compartment can only contain batteries not lead shot. Of course true gamers will now purchase every brand of battery and compare weights and tune their weight flashlight to the load in true gamer fashion. Lithium batteries for light steel loads, old fashioned alkaline ones being heaviers would be used for major loads. Mark my words, this is the begining of a creepy relationship between the action shooting min/max gamers and the flashlight fetishists from candle power forums ..
  12. So .. I can fill the battery compartment with lead shot?
  13. Hey Bill, is USPSA actually spending money on it? Because if euxx isn't getting payed, and payed WELL, all you are doing is guaranteeing that he will give up trying to please you and we'll end up with another piece of unmaintained software I do wish you would stop.
  14. I like the clays, they are evil. Not only do you have the one hole problem, but then if you are really confident, shoot it, see a black spot on it and think it is a hole, and then later you find out it wasn't a hole but a random surface chip not inflicted by a bullet. Happened to people on my squad.
  15. Shh .. no one tell pat his gear is attached to his tekloks with screws
  16. Everyone has that problem with that belt, move the end of the belt right behind your holsters so you can see it and reach it easier. Yes, girls have this problem worse, it is a an issues for one of ladies out our club as well, but we've gotten to the point that any of with will just belt her back up upon request. She complains about the belt, but I think that she is a amused that she has a "pit crew".
  17. The best hat I've got was a freebie from the FNH match. It labeled "Reggie Matthews" for whatever that is worth. If the bill stich count is relevant, this one has 8
  18. In no way did I call you responsible for my problems. However if you think that ignoring the problem is somehow going to keep it from knocking at your door, then you are fooling yourself. My point is that actively telling abusive states "Well, I just won't come there" gives them exactly what they want, they win, because what they want is gun people NOT there. It also tells them how they can win, one state at a time until there is no place to run.
  19. Hmm .. we hand multi thousand dollar prizes to new baseball players? Should we do that to grow the sport of baseball? Look, people shouldn't shoot 3gun because they win prizes, they should shoot it cause its fun.. Frankly I don't want people who shoot for prizes only around me, I know a couple and I wish I didn't, they end up not being nice people. So if you I grow the sport by rewarding people who want free stuff I'm not sure I've improved the sport.
  20. +1 This. I don't go to states with crappy gun laws and I go out of my way to vacation in those that do have good ones. I take issue with that logic. What you are in effect saying is "lets not support the shooting sports where they are most engendered, it will be ok if I hide my head in the sand over here, there is no way it is gonna come my way".. Thats exactly how we got the original nation wide AWB, it is faulty logic in my opinion.
  21. Fun match, well done Howard. However, for the life of me I don't really understand how you call your percentage when you don't know who is shooting, but I wasn't shooting for prizes anyway so that doesn't really phases me. Would buy again
  22. Take it off, shoot it without it, see what the brass looks like.
  23. I seem to have no problem getting two screws to line up between QLS mounts and ELS belts. It seems secure to me.
  24. Vlad

    APEX parts

Err .. odd. I've done 3 different M&Ps with APEX parts with no issues. If I were you I'd take the pictures and send them to them.
  25. Not a bad person at all, and I'm all down with if it isn't fun don't do it. I'm just not sure I understand where you are coming from. I could understand "its too expensive", because it is. I could understand "I just don't like shotgun", thats cool. I guess I'm puzzled by the "things are getting better, and we are developng new ways of doing things, and thats not fun" I suppose, everyone has a different way of defining fun or lack there of, but I'm just a bit surprised, thats all.
