  1. I have shot maybe 400 rounds of factory 9mm through my STI Target Master. Last week after firing the last round in the mag (by count of shots), the slide locked closed. So tight I couldn't budge that in the field. I removed the mag and saw no problem with that. The slide would move back about 3/4" (not accurately measured) and the barrel dropped down a bit so I felt the link was pulling properly out of the lugs. I went back to my shop and used a brass rod and tapped smartly. I had counted the rounds fired and knew there was no round in battery and that was confirmed when the slide opened up. The slide freed up and worked perfectly. I disassembled and check all the components and saw nothing out of ordinary. Cleaned and lightly lubed the pistol and later fired 8 rounds to check function. I did remember that the slide started not staying open after firing the last round prior to this lock up. What do you all suggest happened. I will NOT send back to the factory, so how about some pointers. I am just wondering if the mag is at fault. Thanks for your help Jeff
  2. Hey thanks Jack. I have a little bit of W231 at home and will try that.
  3. Hi I am trying to find the ultimate accurate load for the 6" long slide STI target master in 9mm. I have searched through a bunch of reloading manuals for a 9mm lead round nose load. I have 122 grain lead bullets, winchester brass, winchester small pistol primers. I reload on the Dillon 550B. I have heard about the plated lead bullets but would like your advise. I shoot only target (paper & metal) and would like to strive for accuracy. Can you all recommend some loads? What lead bullets do you guys like best? What plated bullets do you all reocmmend? Thanks for your kind help. Jeff
  4. How do you all move a fixed rear signt on a S&W 915 pistol. I tried the sight adjusting tool with the screw and the sight wouldn't budge. That tool works on all my other stuff. Is the rear sight on that model pinned somehow or retained by Loc-tite?? How do you guys move the rear sight in the dovetail slot? Thanks for your help Jeff
  5. Hi all I have a 1911 Les Baer in 45ACP. While shooting this last weekend, the last round in the mag would jamb and not feed properly. The FMJ bullet would go up the feed ramp and acted fine, but the brass end hung up in the mag. I was shooting Lawman ammo that had been in the attic for about 4 years but seemed to perform well except fot the noted problem. This jamb would occurr with several different mags, and would happen only every third or forth string. Can you all help me with this? Thanks Jeff
  6. Hi I am a new guy here and will give a few bullet points (no pun intended) about my interests etc 1. I love shooting pistol, sporting clays, and long range rifle 2. I do a lot of gunsmithing on my pistols and help friends with gunsmithing needs. 3. Accumulated a ton of smithing tools over the years 4. TIG weld on about anything 5. I belong to several ranges locally. One is free for members ($75 per year) but is 40 minutes out. With fuel consts I have been shooting at local close by places and paying $10 to $15 to shoot for a couple hours. Still better that fuel for an 80 minute trip. 6. I love working on side by side shotguns and Winchester model 21's 7. my 2 ruger mark 3 (one 22/45) are fun to shoot. I have removed the mag disconnect and installed the Volquertson accuizing kit. I like the result better than the S&W 41 now. thanks Nick V. 8. I have finished installing Dawson Precision adjustable tritium sights on 2 pistols and will do the XD this weekend. 9. I have a retinal pucker in my right shooting eye that was disguised by a large cataract. I had the cataract out and new synthetic on put in. Then the retinal pucker was diagnosed. I just can't shoot right hand right eye anymore. I am doing well leaning to shoot pistol left eye and right hand and am doing better that ever. I think the eye problem has been around for quite a while without me noticing. I am now learning to shoot rifle left handed left eye. That is tough and I am starting to practice with my 22 (cheaper) rifle now. I am pretty concerned about shoting clays because that is a both eye open sprot for depthe preception. 10. I have arthritis but am mobile but not enough for IDPA or 3-gun matches. I am settling for target pistol and looking into the 6.5 Grendel for 1000 yard shooting. those don't involve much movement and knee down and up stuff. 11. I love to reload shotshell, pistol, and rifle. 12. I am hopeing someday to pay for a Sharps long range 45-90 BPCR. I have a deposit at Shiloh now but will take a while to pay off. 13. divorced after she walked out after 39 years-I end up paying 2600 per month and have 22 more payments-blaaaah. 14. I am going to try to still hunt this year with 357 or 44 mag for deer. 15. I am working on a reload for my 9mm Glock 17. I have a bunch of 122 grain fbrn lead and am using VitaVori powder. I started with 4.1 gn and am now at 4.3. The start was 4.0 and max at 4.6. The group was terrible at 25 yards so back to the drawing board. Any recommendations? 16. I reload metal cartridages with my Dillon 550-B and have a rockchucker for single loading of my 7-30 Waters. I plan to reload the 6.5 Grendel. 17 I hope to buy that from Alexander Arms in a year or so. 18----Please help me find a new S&W 952 long slide in 9mm. I have had the local gun store hunting for 5 months and I have looked all over also. Where are they? thanks for letting me be part of this forum Jeff
