  1. I second Miller. I have a Millermatic 185 Mig and it will do just about anything a "hobby" welder needs to do. A Synchowave Tig welder is on my wish list. My family has a shop and we restore cars and drag race a little. We use the mig welder for sheet metal work. It is also great for making target stands, plate racks, etc. Go to www.millerwelds.com for info on welding. Lincoln Electric is the other top name in welders.
  2. The Big Dig... that's the one I've been staring at one for a while trying to visualize it and thinking about how to shoot it smoothly. I'm shooting Limited 10. I'm meeting with my mentors tonight and I'll be sure to get some good tips. See you there, Steve
  3. Mike, I'm going. I'm in Squad 6 with the guys from the Rhode Island Muzzle Loaders Club. Its my first big match and I'm a little nervous but really looking foward to it. I've heard you guys do a really great job with the stages. They look like fun from the postings online. Where's the Red Sox inspired stage? The one you have to shoot with a Johnny Damon wig on. Rob, the quick posting of the results is just great. Thank you. See you Saturday, Steve Lyons
  4. I won't let it die! This is one of the first threads I ever checked out on BE.com. Its an honor. I work for my family business so I made my reloading area in an unused office at work. I disappear to load up there during breaks and lunch and it really maximizes my range time. The bench is just huge table I found in the building that I hung a shelf and a peg board over. I keep it simple, my primer pick tubes are in a random pile on the bench, and there's spent primers and corn cob all over the floor. Keep'em coming, Steve
  5. How exactly does an Ice magwell attach? Is it compatible with an arched mainspring housing? If it comes up farther on the gun than others, I'm guessing the answer is no. Steve
  6. Damn, I knew I should have gone to Mass Rifle last night! For the record, the last time I shot with Pete he had one of the fastest times of the night. I've yet to have a "good" night. Seriously, we all know it's not stress, it's that gun Pete. You can't skimp on equipment. Did you shoot SW Sunday? You've been doing well there. You probably just need a break. Steve

    car alarm

I agree with Sam but this photo might humor some of the more extreme responses. Its a test burn we did for an arson seminar we put on CT. The irony is that yes the alarm will eventually be toast (along with everything else) but while the car burns you'd be surprised how long the siren will sound, the horn will beep, the windows will go up and down. In addition, the tires and the air bags blow out with a good pop. I think I have the total burn as an mpeg somewhere. Its my favorite fire photo. I love the flames circling the left front tire and the molten window falling. Steve
  8. I liked the cracked grip. If that were a car, we'd call that a sleeper around here. -Steve
  9. Larry, Singlestack is right. The mainspring is machined to allow the two screws in the magwell to grip the mainspring retaining pin (I think that's right). Call them because they did have options for the mainspring housing. Steve
  10. Here ar some quick (poor quality) photos. They forgot the elongated mainsping housing retaining pin, so it is just suck on there and I can't test the screws that hold the well in place. They said they'd send the pin out today. Here is a link of directions on hold it is held on from SVI: www.sviguns.com/technical/magwell.html
  11. Rhino, I hope this dosen't put you over the top. A picture from www.AnnCoulter.org... http://www.townhall.com/acimgs/webimages/gun.jpg
  12. I went ahead and ordered one last week. It should be here today or tomorrow. I'll post a pic when I get it on my gun.
  13. Navin Johnson? That guy sold me my Remington 11-87. Its a 26" SPECIAL PURPOSE.
  14. Thanks. That was exactly what I was looking for. Steve
  15. Any pics of the SV magwell on a single stack?
  16. As a "newbie" myself, I think that the info from this forum has allowed me to feel confident I'm getting the advice and knowledge about the right equipment to buy, whether expensive or not. In the long run, by listening to all the "gear talk", I actually save money by not going in the wrong direction with equipment. So with that saved money, I buy more ammo, and shoot more. I haven't felt pushed to believe in the need of certain equipment as much as the possible benefits. It's true to say that the fancy stuff is not required and a luxury but it's also true that you can gain in performance with their addition. I see that there are some things you need to participate with and there are some things that give you an edge. Its nice to have an edge. New shooters may be caught up in getting the edge more to bring them up faster.
  17. SmittyFL, I was wondering what you bought for steel and how you plan on working with it. I bought 12" x 12" x 3/8" AR400 plates from a local steel yard. I think they will work great due to their hardness. However, that hardness also makes it near impossible to cut. I was going to try my plasma cutter on a scrap piece but for now the squares are OK. Steve
