Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I use titegroup for the 45. Dont talk about your home security plans, they can be used against you in court.
  2. I was getting all ready to buy a LNL AP, Even have a Lee Classic cast with the conversion bushing for LNL die bushings. I have all the bushings for every caliber I have in the house(14) on all the dies and even made a cool stand to hold and store all my dies to help speed things up when I got my LNL. Then this dang friend of mine says he has a dillon he hasn't used in 15+ yrs in his shed. He's the second owner. Try it out he says, see if you like it. After 4hrs of figuring out what was and wasnt there, and some good ol' fashion elbow grease, WOW is this thing smooth! Then I call Dillon, I'm missing some parts says I, We will get them out soon says rep, so I order more stuff, then I find out about BE, and order more stuff! Guess what everyone, caliber changes aren't that expensive on dillon if you look at the charts! Bought the 45 ACP complete and only needed 3 more Powder funnels to load another 4 calibers! Got those from BE. I don't know if you can do that on the LNL? I'm in 275 buck on a free press (goodies mostly and started on the cheap) and just tonight I loaded my first 60 rnds. Not that many? Well it was my first load on the press, .243 WIN, and done in about 30 min! I didn't get to try the LNL, other than at a store and didnt load anything, but I think the 20+ yr old dillon is smoother. Does the Dillon cost? Yeah. Does the LNL cost? Yeah, I think the red H is after the market dillon has. Not my concern. I just know that I like to load and make S**T go BOOM! Keeping the freezer full justifies my actions, and I thank a good friend for getting me started on the BKA for cheap! This is just my two cents and this is my first progressive, and I'm wondering what I'm gonna do with my single stage? Keep it around for my kids to use I guess. My 6 yr old daughter already knows more about reloading than the average shooter! The picture is of my 11yr old with her 1st Deer! Bottom Line= RELOADING WORKS!
  3. I'm guessing they'll work, but monster threw me for a loop when they started talking about threads and its hard to reason with a salesperson who only thinks in a linear direction. When they get here if they fit it will be great. If not, oh well I'll send them back! This blue kool aid thing is crazy! loaded my first 60 rounds tonight in like 30min, yeah its slow, but it was 243 and my first time running the press. HAVE TO BUY MORE STUFF!!!!! Thanks for hookin me up on the 5/16 thing, even if they do have threads, I have a BIG vice!!!
  4. Not that anyone cares anymore, But I went ahead and ordered the 5/16 from monster, had to add $.42 though. I'll post update when I get em.
  5. UPDATE: Monster says theirs are threaded. Trying to find out if the interior is threaded or if it comes with a bolt attached. They dont have phone # dealing with genius through email. Stay tuned.
  6. Welcome from one newbie to another! Be careful this place is like an addiction. So Much info, so little time!
  7. Ok one more and I'm out. Reasoning 7/16 is way bigger than 3/8 or 5/16 wrench wise. Thought process, I believe is wrong, gotta figure out the diameter. So..... a 1/4-28 bolt has a hex head that is 1/2 or .500 point to point not flat to flat. So assuming that the knob is for hex cap screws a 5/16 is 0.469 inches and a 3/8 is .563 inches in diameter. The logical choice therefore is the 5/16 which I will order tomorrow. Alvarez I should have listened! But since I'm not loading, I have time to run this to ground, and we all know now why it must be 5/16 and not 1/4 or 3/8. BTW, I am still going to get blue!
  8. You actually need 5/16 flowerette knobs. I know, as I just installed 2 of the black ones I ordered from McMaster-Carr. 5/16, not 3/8... The 5/16 part number on Monster is: TSKBP-137 So is the opening round or shaped like the hex on the bolt? Because the bolt head is actually 7/16 wrench. Now I'm really confused! I hate being the FNG!
  9. UPDATE: There is a black one at holmes depo. SKU #580995. Monster fastener does have the 5/16 & 3/8 knobs in blue. Bad part is FNG ordered the 1/4 knobs because it says thread size. I assumed that based on the thread size of 1/4-28 for our bolts this was the correct one. Still not sure, so I am going to talk to a rep tomorrow to confirm and will post update.
  10. Ok So I'm a newbie and trying to be a productive member of this forum. By the way got 1st order from BE today, not super fast shipping but definitely in an expedient manner. So being new to the cool blue forum, I thought to myself, "Self what can we do to help everyone out?" So I ran around Holmes Depo today and finally found one person willing to help me find the knobs mentioned by 98sr20ve. Well reading down in the post I discovered that the part number had additional #s missing. Thanks for the update 98 or I would have been really up the orange creek. So finally the associate and I found an SKU # (what stores control inventory with, every store or chain of stores has there own SKU system) So the one for a 3/8 flowerette knob is 581-158 at Holmes depo. This is for a white one mind you as we never could find the SKU for black or any other color. To add to this 45 minute adventure, the store didn't have any in stock! So, Since I live in the middle of nowhere and have internet, but very few options for Holmes Depo, other than driving another 2hrs on top of the 2 already driven. I surfed the web for 3/8 Flowerette knob. Found one a lovely shade of blue on Amazon! A little further surfin and found out they are supplied by monster fastener. Wait for it this is your government dollar at work here! Me being the government schlub. And yes I went shopping on my way back from a meeting. So here is the link in all its glory! monsterfastener.com/search.aspx?s=TSKBP-140 The link will take you directly to the knob. $5.97 for 4, plus shipping, my two boxes, 8 total were 16.33 with shipping! Now isn't everyone happy that Government Schlubs take a little break now and then? I am also including a pic so you can decide if you want one before you go to the sight. Also, thanks to everyone for motivating me to waste tax dollars! (actually I get paid salary for 24-7, so it doesn't make a difference!) Hope this helps and hope I'm being a productive member of Team Blue! Ok apparently I don't know how to attach photos, and to new to insert links?! Go figure, the FNG would screw it up. Oh Well my knobs are on the way! P.S. Cut and past the red letters!
  11. Ok, I'll use it until it p*&^#S me off then I'll learn the hard way! Cause that's the way I learn best, I just try a little education when I deal with things that go BOOM!
  12. Ok, This is my first progressive and I've only been loading a little over a year. Bottom line- I don't see the purpose of the failsafe rod. Except maybe keeping the powder measure from turning? Can somebody tell what the purpose is and if you use it. Thanks.
  13. We've been freinds since I was about 10. He didnt ask me to make his ammo, but I probably will! Would've been doing it anyway. The dillon isn't that hard to tear down, just make sure you use a press(hydraulic). Now that it's clean it's like Buttah! Does anyone know what color dillon uses? I picked up a couple stands and was thinking of spraying em, but don't really think dillon is quite baby blue, but close. Thanks for the welcome! FOUND IT!!! Dillon says it's Old Ford Blue! Nice!
  14. Hello, Discovered this forum after a buddy gave me his Dillon 550b! I was planning on going with the Hornady LNL, but hey the price was right with the dillon. So far it seems like a nice machine, after i took of 20yrs of dirt and rust off of it. By the way thats my daughter with her 1st buck in the picture.
