  1. The original concepts of Production and Production Optics divisions were markedly different from Limited and Open respectively. And that was by design. Under the current rules there are very few restrictions on customization of the base production guns and the lines separating Prod/Prod Optics with Limited/Open have become very blurred. This has led to calls for a Limited~Minor division along with allowing SAO/2011 into the Carry Optics division. As I have said before I suspect we will soon see calls for mag-wells and ported barrels in Carry Optics. If the original concept had been left in place then perhaps this would not be an issue. Perhaps it would have become one of the top four divisions without any of the recent changes. We will only know the answer to that when/if IPSC releases a report showing the world-wide popularity of their divisions.
  2. I don't think that USPSA can keep adding new divisions and/or loosening the rules of existing divisions. Enough already. Find the division that most closely matches your ideal then find the gun that complies with that division and that best suits you. Then learn how to use it to the best of your ability. That is purpose of the sport, to learn skills, and to challenge those skills against others in competition.
  3. I don't think the poundage is the main issue; Its rather a lack of training and competence. I was at a match in England many years ago when a police officer shot themselves in the leg using a CZ. He kept his finger on the trigger while he holstered - picture it in your mind - some people are just dumb. Personally I never saw any benefit in a sub 2lb trigger pull. The trigger reset at low weights always seemed slow and mushy to me. I preferred a 2 to 2.5lb pull with a firm, positive reset.
  4. Yes, just like the true-to-life stories they make in Hollywood...
  5. It's true that the 'base' gun has to be on the Production List, but to call it a production division is absurd. With all the customization that is now permitted it is little different from IPSC's Modified division. I'm surprised that the BOD has not allowed mag-wells and ported barrels yet, I'm sure its just a matter of time.
  6. I’d love to see the latest division graphs from IPSC to see how Production Optics is growing and any impact it is having on other divisions. As to bringing in a Modified division around a 9mm Minor handgun, I think it’s been discussed before. If the org were to do that then I would hope they would restore Production and Production Optics to what they were originally intended to be. We already had two heavily customized divisions (Open and Limited). The original concept was to offer a more cost effective option in both optics and iron-sights.
  7. Limited and Open changes would mostly be the magazines (possibly maxwells too in Limited). IPSC Open has the minimum bullet weight, but that's not much of an issue. As noted, the biggest change would be Production/Production Optics. As most USPSA members do not shoot above L1 matches its not likely to be much of an issue.
  8. I remember back when I first started shooting we would aim for 180PF to be on the safe side… Those kinds of loads are tough on steel targets, and on the guns.
  9. All depends on what types of stages people generally shoot. If the clubs that a person attends are mostly high round-count stages then having to reload 2-3 times on every stage can start to get a little tiresome. It's not just the reload itself, its having to clean out the magazines each time to get the dirt out. If your club favors a good mix of short, medium and long - or just the latter two - then 1-2 reloads per stage is not that big a deal and a change to magazine capacity would have little difference. Personally, I think that 15 would have been ideal for both Production divisions (like in IPSC), I think that hits the sweet spot, but again a lot depends on stage design.
  10. Once USPSA determines the process for the next World Shoot they will publish that in the Announcements section of the web-site and also in the magazine. In the past they have also included any instructions for those wishing to get individual slots. At this time there is nothing more to add, just waiting on the org to finalize the requirements.
  11. Shoot it in Open and use the Practiscore App to see where you would have finished in Limited. No sport can please all the people, all the time
  12. In the past it has been based on the last two Nationals for each specific division plus the US-IPSC Nationals. There is supposed to be a discussion at BOD level this year about it but it has not happened yet. Not sure when/if the 2020 World Shoot will ever happen (postponed due to C19). I am also not sure if the budget deficit will have any impact on funding the Nationals teams when/if the event occurs.
  13. They may not have sold enough of them to qualify.
  14. Why is she pointing the gun at your head, and more importantly why is she now pointing it at your crotch…. what did you do ???!
  15. Water pistol and a towel to wipe down the targets after each shooter.
  16. The Sharpie Brush Tip markers work best, the nib is softer.
  17. It appears that USPSA has a deficit in the budget and cuts and/or dues increases may be forthcoming. Link to Minutes for members
  18. I put one on a neighbors gun. Trigger pull felt a little lighter, might be the geometry of the trigger that accomplished that as we left all the original springs in place Pre-travel was reduced and it had a very positive reset.
  19. Not sure, but Taurus do make 1911’s
  20. Its a shame that this information (and more besides) is being lost. I know the org is going through a lot of changes right now, but I'd like to see them gathering as much historic data as possible and storing it online. Not just results, but old match books and rule books could be scanned in along with photos and videos. Admittedly a lot of work but I think it would be worth it to create an online library of this stuff.
  21. I think I have a pound or two in my garage somewhere…
  22. TiteGroup is notorious for temperature sensitivity. I realize that you may not have much powder choice these days but I think Sport Pistol was more consistent with varying temperatures.
  23. The label is green for lite, red for standard, and blue for heavy. The product is always red.
  24. Not sure what the chrono setup was at Area 6, if its a dual optical chrono setup then you should watch both and see how much of a variation they have shot to shot. The optical chrono's are not terribly accurate, so I would suggest trying to make 132-135PF with your lowest velocity instead.
