  3. Oak Hill is a great club, and the people and facilities are top notch. Looks like the Central Regional will be there next year!!! Just gotta iron out the details with the club leadership and do some logistics. ICORE is coming back to Michigan!!!
  4. Just received this...Llloyd was a great guy and worked hard for our sport...he will be missed: Lloyd Doubleday left the range today. Please check with Grace Baptist in Granger, Indiana for details. We have heard there could be a service on 12/12/09. Lloyd ran USPSA at Bend of the River for years and many of the long time shooters know him well. I apologize for notifying you via email about this tragic event. Lloyd was behind the "Michiana", and worked hard to bring practical shooters from Indiana, Illionois and Michigan together to share in our sport.

  11. Conflict with multigun nationals is noted, but there is nothing we can do about it. We announced our match well before multigun nationals (we announced in November). Application: 2009_Michigan_Shotgun_Application.doc

  15. OK...I'll weigh in. Rest assured Erik, we have already looked into this, and have worked out a solution with the BATF. I am not at liberty to discuss the exact host facility yet, as the contract is still not signed. HOWEVER, the host facility will have an FFL with an import/export license. They will also have a BATF certified vault/magazine to store competitors guns (as well as a pro shop with a gunsmith for repairs). Foreign competitors will fill out the transfer paperwork, and ship their guns to the host facility where they will be secured for the competition and checked out daily and returned at the end of the day. This ensures that semi auto guns with extensions can be brought into the country. I am now negotiating to allow the competitors to bring them with them, and then have our FFL tag them and take posession of them at the point of entry at the airport so I can save the competitors the cost of having to ship them back and forth to the on-site FFL with the import/export license. The only sticking point I currently have is with the SPAS, as they are classified as a "destructive device" by BATF. They MAY allow them in on a "shipped basis only", as long as they go to the FFL direct. That is still to be determined. So, before you go making a determination, realize that there is a LOT going on behind the scenes that you don't know about. BATF does negotiate with large venues contrary to popular belief. I am wading through all the beuracratic red tape right now, and would appreciate it if you could refrain from jumping to conclusions until I have posted the results of those negotiations. Thank You, Jeff LaFave 2010 Pan American Shotgun Championship MD

    The AKC

I hear you JK. I should have been more elaborate in my explanation. This gentleman (whom I have trained with MANY TIMES) ONLY works on a reward system. He does not even advocate shock collars as a means of training. It was only after exhausting EVERY POSSIBLE REWARD TECHNIQUE, and trust me, he knows many, that he, as an absolute last resort tried a shock collar and after she wouldn't respond to that, he physically repremanded her. The sad fact is, this was not a "slow child". This was a SEVERELY RETARDED CREATURE that was bred as such. It was not it's fault, and it did not ask to be born that way, but the breeders did it. That is why I made EVERY EFFORT POSSIBLE to find it a home. I even took it to the Humane Society as a last ditch, and it bit the attendent, and the reccomendation was made to put her down. In retrospect, I am glad it was an adult that got bit and not one of my kids. I draw the line at putting animals before humans. I hold no ill will against the trainer after what I witnessed first-hand. I guess you had to be there to understand...
  17. Now, now Steve...go easy on the boy. He's a little skeered of getting beat by a fat guy north of the border. Let him hide in Production if he wants...

    The AKC

That's why you are better off buying a hunting dog with a British bloodline. They have not bastardized the breeds just to get the "look" they want. I made the mistake of buying a yellow lab from an American breeder. AKC papers and all. I took it to the most reputable trainer in Michigan for waterfowl training (he is featured in all our outdoor magazines up here). Just two days into the training, he asked me to come pick her up. I said..."Man, that was quick". I get there, and he hands me the dog on a leash and an envelope with all my money in it. He told me that I had the ubequious honor of being only the second person he has EVER had to refund out of over 10,000 dogs he has trained. My dog was, acording to him, ABSOLUTELY UNTRAINABLE. Apparently, he works with a reward-style training program. He said that he tried that, and the dog simply didn't respond. He had to literally beat the damn thing with a wiffle ball bat to get it to listen, and by the next day, it had "forgot" the previous days training. He said it broke his heart to see such a dumb creature, and that he was surprised it could remember to breath. He explained that it was a victim of the AKC breeders skewing the bloodlines to such a point that I basically had a mongoloid-type retard of a dog that looked damn pretty. I tried to get rid of her, but people who purchased her would keep bringing her back because she would chew their furniture, chew their cable tv and phone lines, or simply be destructive. Finally had to put her down. Sad really, that greed and desire for looks has driven the breeds to be so screwed up here in America. Hate to say it, but the Brits got us beat hands down. I'll only buy from their lines now.
  19. Man...the more I think about this match, the more impressed I am with the concept. What a perfect test to find the the best all-around revolver shooter. You guys in Iowa are a lot smarter than I gave you credit for. And to think, I thought all you guys did was sit around fantasizing about sheep. I guess we'll just have to leave that to Cliff now...BTW, is he coming? If so, you better invest in a lot of mud flaps. See ya on da 4'th!!!!! Jeff
  20. Looks like Cheetahs, Chris Nelson and I are in as well from Michigan (that makes 6 from Michigan). My app went out today. I am really looking forward to the "triple crown" of revo events!!!
  21. I know dude...I feel ya. I'll check and see if our club copy is laying around anywhere, or if I can get one for you from Sedro. It sucks that you, as a volunteer, are being put in this type of situation. Later Bud, Jeff
