  1. Whilst at the factory the year before the release of the Shadow 2 I got to talk to some of the engineers/designers about what was done to improve the 2. One of the spots they focused on was the slidestop holes, and the machining of them. On a Shadow, and some other models, the holes had sharper edges on them, and weren't as perfectly shaped as they would've liked. The 2, they totally re-engineered the holes, chamfered the edges etc. All so that there were less stress areas on the stops. Hence them lasting a lot longer in the 2

    CZ TS2 Orange

That is next, and was hinted at being at this years World shoot, but looks like it will maybe be at IWA or the Euros .

    CZ TS2 Orange

no new transfers allowed at all. So for us, that means no new frames, period, for any handgun. And they could start producing them here, they own Colt Canada, which is a fabulous manufacturer of firearms, hell they even have a hammer forge for barrels like CZ does. but the prohibition on transfers kills the idea.

    CZ TS2 Orange

looks like we will be seeing the official launch of the new TS 2 Orange next week (or maybe end of this week) in Thailand at the IPSC World Shoot. Bull Barrel TS 2, I think they may have a 40 there along with a 9mm. Only a couple teaser pics so far, but should be seeing full on pretty quick now. Would be cool if the sold top ends for us poor Canadians that can't bring anymore handguns into the country.
  5. I used to get a new gun every year too, but now our government has made that no longer possible. Got my new gun for next year and until we vote them out, that's it. Thankfully CZ was quick to get me my new one early this time.
  6. @Foxj66but that is so much effort dude, lol. Do you have a date you do that on? A buddy of mine swaps all his stuff out on January 1st every year, and crazily, throws the old springs out in the trash so he doesn't get them mixed up with new ones.
  7. @TheChef1 can you just post regular pics and not whatever those files are?
  8. I've never needed to change a hammer spring, once I've setup the gun with one I like. I have changed, but only because I switched suppliers and decided to have all my guns run the same ones. I am currently running 9lb in my match and practice guns. I have run 10lb mains when I ran into harder primers. They all last hundreds of thousands of rounds though. Recoil I am running 10lb in my iron sighted guns and 11lb in my Optics guns. I was running 9lb recoil, but decided to go to 10 and see if I noticed any real nose dip, didn't, so stayed with the 10lb. I used to run a 6lb recoil, but that was crazy times.
  9. it is not uncommon for the magwell to move if you don't lock it down good, this can lead to mags hanging up. Make sure it's all the way on, then hold it in place while tightening that screw to avoid it moving.
  10. I run, stock firing pin, Rami firing pin spring (or what we called Canadian Shadowmate firing pin springs as we didn't get Rami's in Canada, but our "special edition" Shadows came with super light firing pin springs, which I believe Fox is correct in saying are Rami ones), Match hammer, zero disco, 9 or 10lb hammer spring (have gone as light as 8lb, but went back up due to the randomness of primers these days), and 9 or 10lb recoil. I don't personally run light trigger springs, unless they are only slightly lighter as I like a good solid reset, and I don't run light sear springs either. My trigger weighs about 5.5lb in DA, no idea in SA as I don't care. I do not use any custom or adjustable sears, and if I do run a non CZ disco, it would be the older Eemanntech disco that wasn't the short reach one (not sure if they have two discos out now, or if they made a line change, but my luck with the newer ones is bad). The Orange Shadow 2 comes with what appears to be CZ zero discos, so I don't need to change them. And my new Orange also came with a proper competition hammer, unlike the first one I got that came with some ugly hybrid.
  11. ahh, yeah I only run the Rami ones, or copies of it from the various suppliers out there now.
  12. I've only ever had one light firing pin spring break, in 15 years of shooting CZs
  13. I won't run an extended firing pin, never needed to, and the potential negatives of having one outweigh any possible advantages.
  14. I'd installed reach reduction trigger setups in my gf's Shadow 2s and instantly regretted it. Non stop failures to fire. Put a regular disco back in, a CZ-zero, and the hammer is back all the way during DA, and lights off the same ammo no problem. Used the pretravel screw to remove the small amount of pretravel and ended up with a much better setup.
  15. Cerakote will wear pretty quick if you shoot it a lot, I'd be looking at Nitride or DLC
  16. It depends on how the crack forms and how big a piece breaks off. If too big, the slide stop spring won't be held right and the gun will malfunction. If even bigger piece breaks off, the slide stop itself can be more easily broken, especially if the left side breaks.
  17. man you must have worked that steel wool hard, the slides are Arcore (nitride) finish, and I've never seen someone remove it easily. It's possible yours was defective, which is what allowed it to rust, or it had exposure to something super nasty which caused it to rust and wrecked the Arcore treatment, the steel wool just made it worse.
  18. No new handguns can come into Canada now. Our dictator introduced a law a few months back to ban all handgun transfers and when they saw how many were being sold and new ones being imported they then went around parliament and made a regulatory change to stop import permits. So, while CZ could replace the frame, if they got the old one back, and issued the exact same serial number instead of X-XXXX-1 (current procedure if you ask for the same serial number, they just had a -1 on the end), but not sure if he could get a permit to export and reimport the gun. If it was me, I'd get on CZ about it, make all the arrangements, fly to czech for a match with my pistol and come home with the new frame installed at the factory, but not everyone can do that.
  19. where are you in Canada? I had mine done by Joseph Wu in Vancouver, but I believe Black Box Customs does them too. I would not keep shooting the gun with the crack until it's been milled, as the crack can spread to the point that a piece of the locking block can break off rendering the gun unusable in some cases. I would have it looked at by a decent smith to see if the crack has spread too far already or not.
  20. Yes I had two of my older guns done. One after a crack showed on the right side.
  21. @timmy75 and I mean this in the most polite way, man that is an ugly hole.... in your slide. The firing pin hole looks beat to crap, not that that would have anything to do with extraction or ejection. Your sear cage also looks worn, in weird areas, unless someone stoned the sides of it, but the ejector looks fine. But man for 50k that gun looks rough, I've got a lot more than that through almost every Shadow/Shadow 2 I own and only one or two of them look that worn (both well over 100k each), what kind of ammo are you shooting through them? As for the issue, I'd replace the extractor, extractor spring, and pin, and see what happens. I've seen guys with bent extractor pins that caused extraction issues, usually they reused a pin after a case failure/double charge, or similar incident, and the new extractor would bind up on it. An extra power extractor spring as others have mentioned would be a good plan too.
  22. As one other has asked, what does your ejector look like?
  23. The Springer Precision one is very nice, and you don't need to change your grips.
  24. yeah I've been told that as well, but was told more often it had to do with one step of the firing pin safety machining, now seeing the pic above, I'm going to say I was wrong on which one to believe. Debris groove it is now!
