  1. Looks like conduit backed by wood stood up pretty well. Better than the PVC frame that got hit here last week.
  2. Will this lead to Golf Bag Shooting? Arrive with two sets of gear, 6x45 and 8x38; look over the stages, and shoot the one that suits the most CoFs?
  3. I agree, JF, there is too much tinkering allowed in STOCK Service Pistol, and not enough ENHANCEMENT or CUSTOMIZATION permitted in those divisions.
  4. I thought it was a good match. I did about my usual mediocre level of performance. But, say, Kevin; why was Stage 12 dropped from the aggregate? Not that I am complaining, it was my worst stage of the day, but it would be interesting to know what spoiled it for everybody.
  5. 1. Kimber bashing is a common indoor sport. If you like Kimber, buy Kimber. 2. I have had my 9mms for a while and they wear S&A mag wells. I have one Ed Brown that looks nice but was the very devil to keep tight. Green Loctite fixed it, though. The Dawson ICE is as big as will fit The Box. 3. Yes. Nearly all aftermarket triggers and some stock have stop screws. If you worry about the screw shifting, there are triggers with solid stops filed to fit.
  6. I could not tell they were recycling stages without laying the CoFs out side by side. So it does not matter much to me. I could shoot the same match once a year and screw up differently every time. And anyhow, you could take the same not to scale diagram and move some targets and props two feet and change the entire character of the stage.
  7. There are not going to be as many sanctioned matches in Tennessee this year. Mid Tenn Shooters in Manchester has dropped affiliation so there will be no Southern Regional, Summer Sizzler, or Tennessee State. Memphis was going to resume the Tri State Regional, but not this year, maybe next due to range construction. There is a match at Gallatin in June and the Music City Cup later in the year. And the Carters have dropped the Mississippi state to boot, with no replacement in sight.
  8. Lots of movers. David likes to build things that move. I have been watching the weather forecast all week. Every day the chance of rain was less. Yay. I shot the Florida State on a Sat AM, Sun PM schedule that missed the rain; but I sure felt sorry for the people shooting Saturday PM.
  9. I'll say. Many fast movers and tight cover. I was lucky to be in a Sat AM/Sun PM squad. Those Sat PM shooters had it tough, hard rain and a Tornado Warning.
  10. If it is technical, you could post here. You would get a lot of opinions on rules and equipment. Some of them might even agree. If it is about membership or other administrative stuff, you are at their mercy.
  11. They probably skipped Glock 40 because they did not think we were smart enough to tell the difference between "Model 40" and ".40 Caliber."
  12. I think the instructions for requesting clarification are on IDPA.com. Note that such things are only posted quarterly now, you will not get an immediate answer. Any road, it has been done to death over the years and you will not hear different from what you have been told above. If there is a round in the chamber, you must retain the magazine even if empty. The rationale is that you are not expected to be able to count shots and know to drop an empty magazine out from under a loaded chamber. No matter what Jeff Cooper said.
  13. Confusing Academy tactics with match rules again.
  14. Any of you young whippersnappers recall the TSA and IDSA (in Texas, Tom C) that were going to set things right a few years ago? The CQTAS strongly resembles the three gun outlaw shoots hereabouts with a strong element of CAS. USPSA doesn't get so much complaining because the debate between Gamesmen and Martial Artists was pretty much over with 30 years ago. The Gamesmen won.
  15. How light can you make it with a spur? I don't care if it is narrowed, thinned, or slotted, as long as I can draw the hammer back far enough to drop the stop and roll the cylinder to be sure I don't have a bent clip or fouling under the star. And so long as it is not reduced so much as to break off from impact.
  16. That is strange. I don't think they even hold the barrel length close enough to catalog spec for a .006" cylinder gap to matter.
  17. I note that there is only a one second increment ESP to SSP to CDP expert, two second total spread, less than 2%. Likewise ESR to SSR. I guess you would have to offer two automatic divisions to keep the big bores busy, but I would shoot all revolvers together with the provision that moon clipped ammo had to make Major, speedloader did not. There are not enough revolver shooters to support two divisions and that is the only way I can think of to keep .38s and .45s in the New Game. There are enough outlaw matches sprouting up that somebody might well go this way. But I do not see a new sanctioning organization doing well, IDSA and TSA did not go far the last time somebody thought he was smarter than Bill Wilson.
  18. You have a point. I think the worst part is the guy handed the e-scoring tablet with three minutes of instruction, then when done we wonder where our scores went.
  19. Are there any videos slow enough or stills with instructions on how to load a shotgun in a hurry? All I see are brag movies about how fast a well practiced shooter can do it, nothing for the beginner.
  20. Bob pretty well spells it out. Back when I was still getting Front Sight magazine, there was a USPSA Regional that went trophy only. It was well attended. I would also favor a Pro Division for the few full time professional shooters and the good number of heavily sponsored shooters to duke it out separate from those of us shooting on our own time and money. Unfortunately this does not meet Personal Rule Change Guidelines. That is, doing it my way would not make me a winner, as is usually the case.
  21. I would oppose any move in IDPA to make it possible to "pay the rent." We don't need another professional ex-sporting event in this country. I can get along without the big dogs if they expect to be paid to shoot with me.
  22. I got mine cut out (by FLG) and installed today. It works as well as the factory part in the short run of about 50 rounds. I will have to load 300 or so to develop some statistics, it had not been going that long without sticking before.
  23. I got to handle, but not shoot one yesterday. Without any of the Gen4 add on backstraps, the butt was still pretty big, but had less rake than others. It came up right on target with my 1911 habits. But I know one Glockophile who would not use a SF because of that change in angle. Hope it fits The Box. If it doesn't, then Glock has missed the boat like Sig Sauer did with their Sport models.
  24. There is a lot of talk about "two piece barrels." I would not bet on backwards compatibility.
  25. You might have to adjust your sights if you start putting the bullet on top of the powder.
