  1. A lot of the Cool Guys here start in a gunfighter crouch with their gun hand near the gun butt and their off hand hovering over their crotch.
  2. With consideration for cover and concealment - MD here likes to play "vision barrier" games - you may reload any way that does not leave ammo behind. They would rather you went to slide lock but a Tac load or a loaded chamber/empty magazine reload is acceptable. The type of reload is no longer specified in the CoF.
  3. Just wait until April and we will get reports on the LX.
  4. Speer HBWC seated flush, roll crimp for feeding, 3.2 gr W231.
  5. Local store/range has one for demo. It shoots "flat" but is most notable for a really tough trigger pull.
  6. I quit ringing the changes on Scotch and settled on Irish, Jameson in particular.
  7. I have seen pictures of myself. I bite my lower lip when concentrating on fast shooting.
  8. I figure that is their rationale, but when SSP went to 15 I shot there for a while. I saw that MDs were setting up more 17-18 shot stages so as to force a reload. It became very common to go most of a match firing 16 shots and reloading to hit the last target. Yawn. I went back to ESP where I reload halfway through one of those long stages.
  9. I am seeing some of that, too. My Protege went to a Women Only match. And The Other Guys do it right up to the Nationals. I think it is an effect of the attempt to provide a Division for everything.
  10. Reportedly the holster wording was changed after some subjective interpretations of the pious platitude "suitable for all day carry."
  11. A friend had a AA2520 Spherical vs Varget extruded mixup. I borrowed testing sieves from my agency's laboratory and got a very clean separation. Bullseye vs 3031 ought to screen out. Is there a large strainer in the kitchen?
  12. Physics and engineering mechanics are very fine, but so much of the choice of gun and ammo boils down to feel. Does it shoot "soft", does it shoot "flat"? What number to optimize for a gun that feels right?
  13. Agree. Simplicity and convenience are the watchwords here. My main store of 9mm brass is agency range recovery, some of it pretty tarnished. I recently found that it ran through the dies easier when not tumbled and did not need the spritz of case lube I use on cleaned brass. The only drawback is that this batch is running nearly 2% ringers. However, I have some swept up at the indoor range, mostly my own empties but some of the stuff they sell showing up as once fired. That has to be lightly lubed whether tumbled or not. I am accustomed to the occasional intrusive .380 but this bag is weird. Somebody did not get back all his .38 Super Comp empties.
  14. I had failures to slide lock on a SA while setting up for an IDPA match. I wondered about ammo and recoil spring but looked closely and found it dry and dirty. A good clean and oil got good operation.
  15. My already small local club is down from what it used to be. The nearest affiliated match fell off during Covid and is only slowly building back up. The next nearest match is less than it was, pre-Covid, when they were filling up. So generally, down in attendance where I shoot.
  16. I loaded some 9mm P with White River SP primers yesterday and shot them today. Mixed brass made evaluation difficult, but I got the idea they were a little harder than WW to seat in cases with tight primer pockets. 91 rounds in three guns; Colt 1991A1, SA Ultra Compact, and S&W Plastic M&P. All fired. Indents were deep. I will load some more and take the UC to a BUG match next weekend. I gave some to a friend, 9mm to shoot in a Glock, primers to load in .38 Special to try in his tuned "Federal Only" Python.
  17. When their shipping guy called to tell me my stuff was in the works, he said most of their production is going to ammo companies. He said that he was sending 12 pallets of primers to an OEM in an unspecified foreign country which the state department had certified as unlikely to shoot them at us. Which seems strange considering all the imported primers being sold here.
  18. It's alive! Uh, they are real. I got a sample today, with "gear" including cap, shirts, and mug. My comments on "medium" primers got their attention. Thanks, Kenneth. Loading trials tomorrow, firing tests Saturday or Sunday.
  19. All I see within 100 miles of Salt Lake City is https://wdsautah.com There is some USPSA in the area https://uspsa.org/find-a-club?
  20. G a s p e d a l, the thumb rest on the side of the frame to hold down muzzle rise? I see nothing against it.
  21. I don't know if he got me here or on THR.
  22. Well, what he said was Our website designer just happens to not be very experienced in the ammunition industry and made a mistake.
  23. They have been all over me since I considered their "medium" primer to be a sign of a hoax or scam. I guess I will have to try some as my needs call for a purchase.
  24. The Garmin is so handy and convenient, it almost makes me want to buy one and redevelop my loads. Almost.
  25. Not what the rule says: Magazine releases, slide stops, safety levers, de-cocking levers, hammers, and triggers, that are stock on one SSP legal firearm may be used on another SSP legal firearm from the same manufacturer provided they are drop in replacements. Parts in this list must come factory installed on standard production firearms.
