Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I have the same issue; I use plugs and muffs, but can't get a good seal around my ears because of the glasses. After a while, the pressure that the muffs put on the glasses hurts my head. How do you guys deal with this?
  2. Excellent to know - thank you for taking the time to explain! I'm looking forward to hitting the range this weekend; good thing it is indoor - it is supposed to be -2 on Saturday - ugh.
  3. I definitely believe you; the first 100 I loaded with new brass I got from the range. After that, it was mixed brass that my 10 year old son (now called the Brass Hound ) picked up from the range floor. My bench is rock solid, but I'm definitely not in rhythm yet. Good to know things that can affect OAL .
  4. Thank you!! I just started last week and have been using a load from the Speer manual (115 gr FMJ, 4.2 gr titegroup, 1.135 OAL) for my Beretta 92FS. I'm using the Dillon 550. I did notice some variation in the OAL from my first 25 loads (1.135 dead on) to the last 10 (average of 1.142). Knowing this, I will separate them by length and range test accordingly. Thanks again!
  5. Why is that? How does OAL correlate to accuracy? I'm new to reloading (obviously) and have been reading a tremendous amount on this forum, books (A,B,Cs of Reloading, the Speer Reloading Manual), but haven't come across this subject yet. Thanks! Dan
  6. After the research I've done, I'm firmly in the 550 camp as well .
  7. Thanks very much! That's exactly what I was thinking, especially since I'd like to hand load the .223 eventually as well. Thanks!
  8. Hi, I haven't actually purchased any handloading equipment yet, but plan to do so in the next few days. I am 40, married with 2 kids, and live in Orange County, New York. After 9 long months, I finally got my CCW permit and regularly carry & shoot a Sig 239 SAS in 9mm. I also have a Beretta 92FS and just bought a Rock River Arms LAR-15. A few days ago, I walked into my local gun shop / shooting range and asked about getting my hands on a Glock 20 (10 mm). Because of the high cost and limited availability of 10 mm ammo, the owner recommended that I consider purchasing my own hand loading equipment. He carries Dillon equipment exclusively. I am REALLY glad I found this web site and this forum; such a TREMENDOUS amount of information. I look forward to learning a lot and hopefully can contribute at some point in the near future. Happy New Year! Dan
