  1. Thanks for all the input! I'll be fixing it soon and gonna give the set screw a go.
  2. I have a Norinco Shotgun that I use to mess around with and as a beginning into 3-gun to local indoor matches. The more I have shot it I have noticed the front sight sliding out of the dovetail and it has become extremely loose. I can push the sight left and right with my fingers. I'm unsure what to do in order to fix this problem since it's so loose. The only idea I have come up with is to dead center the front sight then drill and tap a small hole for a set screw to go into the base of the sight in order to keep it from moving. I put up some pictures below to show how far the sight goes off but won't slide all the way out.

Do any of you have a good load for a G22 gun using a Carver comp? I ask because I can't find Autocomp anywhere it seems and I'm searching for some different loads using other powders.
  4. Thanks for the interest guys. I'm currently waiting on some different colored "Remove Before Flight" tags and different colored chamber flags and I'll be ready to sell them. I'll post a thread up as soon as I get everything in by the end of next week.
  5. I wanted to post some pictures up of these chamber safety flags that I made just for fun a couple months back. A buddy of mine saw these in one of my rifles and said I try and sell them. So I am posting this up as a feeler. I have a bunch of these sitting around and wouldn't mind selling them off and keep selling them. They would run about $6 each + Shipping which would vary depending on what I can get them in and the cheapest shipping I can send them through. These are yellow chamber safety flags with the "Remove Before Flight" Tags on the end of them. Just wanted to get a feeler if anyone would be interested in buying these at all. Feedback and Input would be great! Thanks

Has anyone heard anything on the new Angled Mounts from Carver Customs? I was interested to see this mount will still require you to cut the ejection port down like his standard competition mounts do or not. Any word yet?
  7. Has anyone been able to get on Bobby's website recently? It seems that his website no longer exist or I can't get on it anymore. Anyone have some info?

I've heard that plated bullets are a no-no for Open Glocks. They start shedding the plating at certain velocities according to Berry's reloading expert.

How did it shoot? Dot movement?

G22 or G35? I know the barrel length makes a difference.

So I guess I'll ask this, still coming up with some loads for my G22 .40 Open Gun. Anybody have a good major and minor load? I have HS6, VV3N38, and VVN320 powders on hand to use right now. As far as bullets go I believe I have some Montana Gold 155GR Hollow Points to use for now. Suggestions?

Seems like this thread has been dead for a while now.... How's everyone's open Glock shooting? Anyone make or find any new changes that really help the gun or accuracy?
  14. Check about lowering your ejection port since your using a Carver Mount. Another idea is you could order a ZEV Extended Ejector and install and tune it to your gun. I am getting ready to install and tune the ZEV Extended Ejector in my G22 Open gun.
  15. 34 or 17. Both would be great for GSSF competition. However, you can switch your 35 over to 9mm using a conversion barrel and then buy a 17 in order to have a regular 9mm and a longer version.
  16. There is a tool call GTUL. It can be found HERE And another option which is sort of a pliers type tool by Brownells.... HERE

What would you guys recommend for .40 minor loads? Also, I was able to go out and shoot my loads for my open Glock this weekend and found some decent loads. Tried HS6 with 155GR and 180GR bullets. Also tried VV3N38 with 165GR bullets. The 180GRS with 6.7GRS of HS6 shot great. I don't own a chrono but I will soon. Overall the dot movement was little but still moved up toward the top of the glass and back down with a little bounce. I could deal with this. The 155GR with 8.5GRS of HS6 had a lot more movement. This is the max recommended load for the 155GR Bullets and it rough and not very flat. I would rather stick to 180's when using HS6 personally. The 165GR with 9.6GRS of VV3N38 was very snappy and quick. Dot went completely out of the glass and I was unable to track it. I feel that if I could load the bullets longer for more powder then it would be a great powder to use. However, Glock mags don't like long OAL's. I am looking into trying Winchester AutoComp with a 155GR bullet next week when I can get the powder. I keep seeing 6.7 GRS of AutoComp works very well with .40 Open Glocks.

I can't specifically speak for minor PF ammo since all I load is major PF ammo for USPSA. I'm sure some other guys might have some specific loads they can share with you for minor PF. I can say that slower powders are better for major and vice-versa for faster burning powders. If I had to say one powder to try, see what Winchester WSF or VV N320 will do for you. I think they should both work great for your needs. Here's a link to the VitaVuori online reloading manual: http://www.eabco.com/VihtaVuori01.pdf

OK. Thanks guys. Anyone tried to modify one themselves? I have a buddy who can get the discount from Brownells on the CR Speed holster and would only cost me $87 instead of $100+.

Ordered a couple last minute items for the gun today. Placed an order with Zev and went ahead and bought the fulcrum trigger and extended ejector. I already have Zev's firing pin to match the trigger. As far as magazine extension, I have ordered a couple Dawson extensions as well. Everything should be here early next week so I can finish the entire gun. Lastly, I am using a Carver Customs mount. What holsters will my gun fit? I see that Carver sells a modified CR Speed Holster but before I order one of those, what are my other options?

Yeah they are the factory .40 cal 22 round magazines they have recently come out with. I know that people use to sell Glock replacement tubes but I haven't been able to find any the last few days. I wouldn't mind building a few of my own magazines.

Messed around a little with the gun today. Noticed that when I insert the magazine the trigger feels like it's making contact and rubbing something. Sure enough I found that the trigger bar is rubbing the corner of the magazine and giving is a dragging feeling as you pull the trigger and resets. I'm going to try and find some cheaper magazines and tune them so I don't mess up my 22 round Glock mags for right now until I'm comfortable filing on them.

Frame mounted obviously keeps the optic from moving unlike a slide mounted optic. Personally, I would much rather a frame mounted optic because the dot has less movement now. You still will have a bit of movement but not much if your load is done right. Slide mounted you still have the little dot wiggle with your load but now it's moving front to back and I feel it would be harder to acquire now. On the other hand, slide mount optics allow for more of a natural point and shoot as where you will have to adjust how you hold the gun and its re-learning it all over it again. Side Note: The 90 Degree mount from SJC really fixes this problem and is still frame mounted.

Update: Went and shot some loads out of my open gun today. The load I tried was: 155GR Montana Gold Hollow Point loaded with 8.0GRS of HS6. Dot moved up out of the aperture but returned quickly. I feel that maybe a little more powder might help. I do have some VV3N38 that I would like to load up with those 155GR Bullets. As for as data I can't seem to find any. Any suggestions on where to start?
