  1. G17 factory barrel I had 2 shots in a 10 string not make minor with that UMC ammo.
  2. That's pretty neat, anyone actually try one of these tube setups, that can comment on how well it worked/installed?
  3. I had a similar problem with a fairly heavy DA trigger pull on one of my HK's, and before I did a trigger job on it, my Gen4 17. I attributed it to improper trigger control and grip strength, on a fairly heavy or long trigger pull. Watch the sights as you slowly pull the trigger (dryfire), to see if they are pulling off the target. If they are, try different grip strengths, grip sizes, positions of the trigger finger on the trigger as you pull it. Or you could do what I did, and change your trigger, though I'm sure like alot of people, you could overcome a long/heavy pull with practice. My 2 cents. J
  4. This is kind of off subject, but just out of curiousity, as I've been wondering this about my own reloads. How much above minimum power factor should you really be aiming for, in tuning. That 125.93, seems like it could be cutting it close. 5. Rifling, and probably head space/chamber tolerances, would be my guess.
  6. Out of curiousity I ran some 115 gr Remington UMC 9mm through a chrono today, while I was testing out some reloads. String of 10 shots Gen4 Glock 17: Max PF = 127.53 Min PF = 124.08 STI 9mm Edge: Max PF = 130.53 Min PF = 126.96 So it sure seems possible you could go below minor PF with low cost factory ammo. -J
  7. Can I ask if you modified your carry/competition glock to have a competition trigger? I've been debating the idea of doing this on my own G17.
  8. I actually agree with Carlosa. Walmart has 250 round 9mm UMC for about ~52 bucks, and that's a pretty good deal (when you can find it in stock). That said, you can load much softer shooting ammo, and you can save alot more money if you're loading/shooting other calibers (.45 acp seems overly expensive everywhere I look). J
  9. Went through a orientation class prior to shooting a match today, where I was instructed that a proper draw was to push the safety off (while holstered) then draw and aim. This took me a bit by surprise, and while I understand the benefit for the early safety push in a combat scenario (if per se I needed to shoot from the hip), I'm still not really all that comfortable with doing it that way. My method has always been to click the safety off after the draw, while pushing the gun forward toward the target. Anyway this leads me to my question and I'm curious where in the draw more experienced shooters are going off safety? Thanks, Jason
  10. I tried that, "reach under the gun with the weak hand to release the slide, then roll back into a 2-hand grip" trick tonight when practacing reloads, and I must say that's kind of slick. Thanks for the tip. Jason
  11. On that note, don't forget you have to buy 3 or 4 STI magazines and a tuning kit (or buy tuned), which can cost quite a few pennies.
  12. I have a Brazo's tuned edge, and I love it. J
  13. Really, you'd perfer to reach around under the gun, rather than just pulling the slide back with your weak hand? I'll admit though, I've never tried that, I guess I'll have to give it a shot. I actually like index finger magazine release, but maybe that's because it's basically all I've ever known as a lefty. I've never really seen the magazine release as an impediment to left handed shooting.
  14. Wow awesome iPhone posts. Can someone delete those?
  15. Yeah dont get me wrong the new design seems to have less recoil, and I like that you can change The backstrap for ergonomics but take a good look at that guiderod setup. It's a spring within a spring, connected to another spring. Oh and the new gen 4 sights are horrible. Worse even than the old three dot setup which atleast would glow in the dark.
  16. I am a little worried about longevity with the new complicated gen4 spring and guide rod setup other than that there's not a huge difference.

  18. I was kind of hoping to find something that would also allow me to tweak my non-adjustables at the range, to get them sighted in after I put a new set of sights on.
