Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Thanks for the quick reply, I’ll follow up
  2. Bought it a few years ago and now I am trying to get that purchase information to a friend but the BrianEnos.com site is inop. Are these starter kits still being sold by Brian?
  3. Round Gunny: My 625 is a PC model so I think I'm covered on the cylinder issue. Bob: LOL, already picked up some "Blazer" brass and discovered the small pistol primers. AND, I just started having hang up problems with the primer bar - thanks for the tip on graphite lube.
  4. Great idea on the spray/bag I'll do that. Thanks Grumpy and Happy Holidays!
  5. Yep, that's it. I just went to the bench, found some outsized brass, lowered the decapping die and it worked fine resizing the brass. Thanks Grumpy, BTW should I be using case lube for this? (P.S. thanks for not suggesting that I "read the directions")
  6. If you mean using the decapping die in the first stage of every reload, yes. Maybe I should adjust the decapping die lower in the tool head to effect more coverage to the case?
  7. For the past few months (before the snow) I have been picking up 45 ACP cases laying on the ground at our outdoor range. I've accumulated a few baggies of my own brass as well as some brass that others didn't bother with. We have State Police range days and they leave the stuff all over our outdoor pistol bays. I have noticed that the cases can be a little distorted and will hang up when trying to insert a moon clip in my 625; also jamming in my Kimber. What parameters should I use to avoid distorted cases? I have a measuring die to check brass dimensions but I don't use this on every casing I handle. Is there a sizing function from any die used in my 550B? Oh! and MERRY CHRISTMAS to all.
  8. Thanks all Love the camaraderie in here.
  9. Using Hodgdon HP-38 5.6gr with .45 cal 185 SWC bullets. Residual out of six cartridges looks just like a couple dozen grains of brownish sand.
  10. New to reloading although fired many, many factory rounds. First effort with my reloading I fire a few rounds in my 625 with moon clips and (since the clips eject the brass all together) there is significant granular material left in the shells. Enough that when I rap the shell casings onto my tailgate there is a little pile of what looks like sand. Anyone care to educate me on this?
  11. Okay for that - woulda been frustrated when the plate arrived -- I'll get em coming. Thanks
  12. But I can use the locater buttons from the 45 ACP plate, correct?
  13. Thanks for the quick reply, ordering it right now
  14. New to reloading and bought the 550B. Just love my Kimber and thought a wheel gun would be fun to add to the 1911 collection, but wanted a 45 for simplicity of ammo. So after a lot of online research I picked up a sweet S&W 625PC. Then I learned about moon clips! Well, being the kind of guy I am, I had to buy a bag of 45 Auto rim brass for reloading SWC lead. NOW I realize the auto rim cases will not fit the press as set up for 45 ACP. Do I have to buy a caliber conversion kit or only the shell plate to fit the auto rim brass bases?
