  1. Is it acceptable to use a red dot...or must this be iron sights? Can it be shot with 22 Ruger with optic? Any penalty for using such crutches? thanks
  2. Thanks airborne, that's just what I was looking for. I will give him a try. Regards, Gavin
  3. Thanks, yes I have heard that you can shoot 9 mm through this caliber just fine. I am a little reluctant to do that though, even if it has proven to be harmless. I want to try it, but also want to be sure it doesn't hurt the resale value of the gun...if I can't find someone to fit a new barrel and comp then I will probably just swing away with 9 mm.
  4. I want to have the additional 9mm barrel and comp because I have access to 9mm brass at the range I work at. Never see 38 Super...
  5. Hi everyone...quick question. I have a Brazos Pro SX 38 Super. Can anyone advise of the best smith to re barrel and comp my 38 super to 9mm. Bob has advised he will not do this because 9mm major is too hard on the gun. Thanks for your input. Gavin Morrison Quantico VA
  6. Fantastic match! RO on stage one had logged 17.1 miles on his pedometer by the time we got there...another there was doing push ups between shooters! Those guys were nuts! That being said...Im truly grateful for their service.
  7. Since the hammer is back, and my 2011 is a hairtrigger compared my Glock, I keep the safety on until the gun is pointed in a safe direction. I too was very conscientious of this new platform going from a plastic gun, and I saw way too many videos of people trying to quick draw with a 2011 and shooting themselves in the leg. So I error on the side of of caution in this regard. I can make up that millisecond with footwork.
  8. Yes… The Limcat which is my favorite gun... was $400. Isn't every gun about $400? Hanha...
  9. When I walk the rounds onto my target with my full auto machine gun, they don't do a damn thing. Furthermore, when I'm shooting steel at 7 yards (pistol) they don't do much either as well. I can pretty much muscle memory those rounds on to the steel and hear my hits as feedback instead of the sights. But No matter how much of a Yoda you are... and no matter how much of the force you use, I have a 338 Lapua that won't hit anything at a mile unless you line "something" up. I believe sights as a tool will mean different things to different people depending on how much skill they have with the given weapon system. Some folks can walk on water without even a flash site picture. Others could not hit the broadside of a barn without their use. So....Do with them what you will, but make sure your skill level is in proper accordance to their use.
  10. Yes...she's just about had it with me. And I do love her dearly, so I had to put one of these for sale today. This collection amassed in about 2 years along with a suppressed AIAW 338 Lapua with Schmidt and Bender! Yikes...this sport can take my normally sober mind and even keel and turn it right on its side!!!! I lover her for her patience...but I'm sure we all have tales of woe regarding the purchase of these luxury items. Shhhh...don't tell her I'm getting ready to buy an R and R Racing Open Saiga 12! Ha ha...Here is the eye candy.
  11. Limcat Razorcat in 9 of course...just a step up from the Brazos.
  12. Disregard Larry...I accidently shut off messenger when my 2 year old jumped on my Ipad screen. Got it resolved and turned it back on. Thanks, G

  13. Disregard Kyle...I turned it off by accident...just turned messaging back on. Thanks...G

  14. Hi Larry, Panic Flinch here from Enos. My account seems to have been restricted from sending/received messages. I have read all the rules and do not know why this has occured. I would be grateful for any assistance. I have been on for 3 years and have over 100 meaningful posts...no one liners. I'm currently trying to sell a Brazos Pro SX...and believe I have met the requirements... Folks are asking questions...now I have no ability to answer. I would be grateful if you could assist....

  15. Hi Kyle...I know you are busy...please forgive me. My message system has been shut down. I have been a member for over 3 years and have zero BS posts. I must have done something to get blocked. I would be grateful for your assistance/explanation so that I can remedy the situation. In the classifieds a gentleman wishes to purchase a Brazos 40 cal from me and now I can not communicate....heeelllp!

  16. I have a Glock 34 with a 4 1/2 pound connector. I will sometimes balance a dummy round on top of my front Trigicon sight. Then carefully pull the trigger. The buzz and snap from the vibration of the striker will cause the dummy round to fall off sometimes. It makes me wonder if the movement caused by these parts slamming around will cause the accuracy of the gun to fail somewhat. I love my Glock and it's very accurate, but it cannot hold a candle to my STI 2011's. When I dry fire these guns there is absolutely no movement out of the weapon whatsoever When it goes click.
  17. I Use CR speed… But I make sure I have enough Velcro on the inside of my outer belt to hold everything in place. If, because of all your attachments you have lost your Velcro Real estate ....your belt can fall down. I like to keep it tight
  18. Balance a cup of hot water on the backside of your hand and try to move is quickly as you can without spilling it. Ohhh, Keep your arms outstretched. Ha ha
  19. I have worked with several of the same firearms instructors for over 15 years. While I still love to shoot and have a healthy respect for firearms… This is not the case with some of my coworkers. Here is the analogy. Amusement parks are fun, right? It would be terrific to work there, right? Well, at my last trip to Kings Dominion, I could see the look of death and boredom on many of the faces of the people who work there. Unfortunately many of my coworkers have the same look on their faces. I know it's hard to believe… But yes it can even happen at a gun range! When I began working as a firearms instructor, I vowed to never let the work interfere with my love for firearms and the sport.
  20. I can easily catch rounds from every weapon I own. I wont do it though. At competitions this seems to be a point of contention, and I stay away from it. I will not partake in any activity that can get me DQd or put into an heated discussion with an RO or range staff. Simply not worth it. There are many things that you can do at a match that have nothing to do with shooting ability that can advance your position. Figuring out all the minefields and pitfalls of a competition COMBINED with shooting well will put you high up on the list. Avoid all those small things that can trip you up and get in your head… And shoot well… Then you got it figured out. Catch the rounds?… Why?
  21. Im not a target expert or competent stage planner, but I must say I did like the swinging flasher MGM type rifle targets. Positive feedback...no argument necessary for the most part. That is if the RO is watching the target you are shooting at.
  22. My Zen is this: During a major Threegun competition, I have the stage so well-planned in my mind that as I run through it I feel like I could have a conversation with the RO and all the while shoots just as well. I guess thats what they call walking on water..... I occasionally have runs like this, and I guess that is what keeps me coming back.
  23. I read about it all the time Who would go to the line without loaded magazines? At the FNH3 gun competition a few weeks ago I loaded my magazine and put it in my cargo pants pocket. The other two magazines were loaded from the day before. First stage of day two...When I went to the line I shot my first magazine empty from my cargo pants pocket and went to reload....Both of those mags on my belt were empty! I was sure that they were loaded from the day before and I didn't even check. I took 70 seconds penalty on that stage. Never again
  24. Yes...I have found that because I shoot Three Gun, High Power, USPSA in Production and Open, and Bench Rest with the 338 Lapua...my mind can be pulled in many directions. And although Im having fun, I lack the focus on ONE discipline to really improve in vast amounts.

    draw time

I tend to go a little slower...1.8 or so and make up the time with footwork and getting in and out of positions.
