    P320 X5 Thread

At Shot Sig said the first batch of the X5 will be at retailers by the end of February, beginning of March.
  2. Q's The Fix was introduced at Shot - sub $3k multi-caliber bolt gun (all .308 family cartridges). Field swappable barrels. Supposed to start shipping end of 2Q, beginning of 3Q. Cadex's Kraken introduced at Shot - multi-caliber (.308-.338LM) bolt gun, field swappable barrels. MSRP is ~ $7,200 with street price less. Viable alternative to the AI AXMC. Ritter & Stark's SX-1 multi-caliber (.308-.338LM) bolt gun. The scope base is incorporated to the barrel (it's one piece), so you'll need to get new bbls from the manufacture, unlike having a 3rd party (or yourself) making them as you can with the The Fix, Kraken, and AI's. Unsure on MSRP.

    P320 X5 Thread

Street price is going to be about $850. Some dealers are already taking pre-orders and they expect to ship the first batch by mid February/early March.

    P320 X5 Thread

I shot one at Sig's rage day during Shot. Balanced well, fit my hands really nicely, trigger was the best factory trigger I've ever felt (outside of my 20+ year old HK P7).
  5. Be wary of a TSA goon who doesn't know what they're doing - I've had them several times want to put my gun case on the conveyor belt (after everything was checked) without me putting my lock back on the case.

    Gray vs. Burke?

    I have 3 guns in the queue for Bruce - a 226, 220, and HK P7.
  7. It was varying terrain, some flat, some rocky, some rocky with a pitch. Never lost my footing.
  8. I shot a major multi-day 3 gun match a few months ago wearing only Converse Chuck Taylors, placed 5th on one stage and was able to pick up a suppressor gift certificate off of the prize table, so I don't think it was the shoes.
  9. WhooHoo! I got a P7SP on trade and it should be here tomorrow!! I've been wanting a P7 since I first saw one when I was in HS.
  10. You seem hell bent on repeating that you have an "Akai custom 2011" and ignoring the advice that you asked for.
  11. I'm willing to be that they'll make it right. I bought a used CZC SP-01 Shadow that wasn't working properly. Shipped it back to CZC and they fixed it and shipped it back without charging me (even though I asked them how much it was going to be).
  12. I shot a .308 Surgeon Scalpel in a AIAX chassis this weekend that had a AWC brake and it worked very well. (Surgeon and AWC are owned by the same parent company)
  13. That's good you were able to experience that. The last 4 Nationals (back-to-back) I worked at Vegas were bad. One battleaxe RO (the kind that sit in a chair all day and do nothing but take up space and complain) chastised me for not having hearing protection on while I was about 50' behind the line watching another squad shoot (I had my fingers in my ear). She became so miffed that she called the RM to try to get me in trouble. The year prior I was sick for a few days (bad cold, sore throat, etc) but still showed up to work. The CRO actually had the gall to chastise me for being "grumpy".
  14. I've RO'ed several nationals and stopped doing it because of the "old guard" RO's who treat other ROs not like them like dirt. Not to mention the former military ROs who still think (or fantasize they were) a drill Sargent and bark at everyone (ROs included). I just RO local matches now were I don't have to deal with the BS.
  15. Years ago, I bought what was supposed to be 1k clean, once-fired .40 brass (I think it was from here but I can't remember). I got a box of sand and brass, with most of the brass chocked full of dry dirt. Seems the seller shoveled brass off a range into a box and sold it. Even after several tumblings, couldn't get most of the dirt out and had to trash most of it.
  16. When I worked for a nationally-known gunsmith, we would get swapped with requests for match donations. I would imagine that a firearm manufacture would be even more swamped. As pointed out above, you have to be able to tell the vendor what they are getting in return for the donation. Do you know the demographics of the people who will shoot your match? How are you putting the sponsor's name out there, who will see it, etc?
  17. I'm getting back into 3-gun, and looking at either the Safarland 086 or the Invictus Practical load two/quad load setups. I can't find any comparisons between the two products (wondering if that's because the 086 was just released at SHOT?). From looking at various videos, it seems that the 086 is more secure? I don't know anyone around me who has either, so I can't try them out myself. I know that there are other load two/quad load products out there. Looking for any advice, experience, likes, dislikes, etc.
  18. I decided to get a STI VIP and will send it off to Uncle Jim Milks so he can work his magic on it.
  19. I got a quote of $4,500 for an commander-sized Infinity for CCW with a 12-15 month wait ($1k deposit, balance when ready to ship). Or, I can get a similar modular CCW gun from a former EGW gunsmith, Jim Milks, for about $1,000 less with much less wait (I've worked with Jim before at EGW and am very impressed with his work). Is the Infinity that much better/worth it, or, like some other things, you are paying for the name? By comparison, a Salient Arms wide body commander 1911 is $4,500 (seems to be a Caspian frame) with about a 8 month wait (and they will give you a loaner gun if your's is taken into evidence after a lawful use of it). I don't know anyone who has a recent vintage Infinity (I've shot some of their older factory limited guns 15+ years ago and they were well built).
  20. I've never been at a match (including the Nationals) where I didn't see anyone not be able to borrow any piece of equipment (including a firearm) if it broke. Unless you are in contention to win every Nationals you go to, then a backup gun, IMHO, is a waste of money. Spend it instead on ammo, or taking a class.
  21. Any recommendations for someone who knows their way around a M1 Garand? Basically I just need someone to go through it and make sure all the parts are up to snuff. The only one that I've really found is Fulton Armory. I'm in Philadelphia.
  22. I had to be proactive and I contacted the NRA. I'm signed up to work the 2016 match (and shoot it for free).
  23. http://www.czgrips.us will custom make wood grips. They aren't very expensive.
  24. I don't know of any in NJ or Eastern PA. The closest one that I know of is http://www.innovativecustomguns.comrun by Jim Milks who worked a long time at EGW.
