  1. Instead of velcroing it to a hat brim, how about veclroing it to your hearing protection?

    Skimmer Trigger

The Skimmer does not have a forward set sear like the Apex kit. The Skimmer has the pre-travel removed so that there is very little take-up.
  3. I can shoot the 34 accurately, but I can't run it with the speed that I can the 17. I'm using an SSP legal 17 in both SSP and ESP.
  4. There is a slight modification to part of the trigger causing it to sit more vertically. Perhaps the folks at IDPA will deem it SSP legal, but until they do, play it safe and use it in ESP.
  5. Actually, the rule book states in multiple places that the same capacity magazine must be used throughout the match.
  6. That is presuming that 8 round mags are being used. A shooter using 7 rounders would be legal at 7+1. Just clarifying this so folks won't think that a 7 rounder is not legal.
  7. I have shot in a sanctioned match where DMG was allowed, but it was not a state championship match. I don't know how they went about the sanctioning stuff.
  8. I wouldn't have tried to "Grandbag" the classifier early on and get classified as a Sharpshooter in SSP before I was really ready, only to come in DFL in SSP SS at my first several majors. If you're thinking about shooting a major go ahead and DO IT! They're lots of fun and you'll meet lots of great folks, and the more majors you shoot the better you'll get at shooting majors. I'm sort of in the same bag. I looked at the classifier and what I knew my skill set to be and was not satisfied with classifying at anything less than EX in SSP. I then classified with my SSP legal gun in ESP as an SS. Depending upon the day, I'm either a so so EX or a very good SS.
  9. I started shooting IDPA in 9/10. I shot a sanctioned match, the Wheelgun Championship, in 5/11.
  10. Y'all are assuming that this development was his choice and that it is shooting related. Glock was not only his shooting sponsor; they were his employer as well.
  11. There is a lot of opportunity when you are a free agent of his caliber. I doubt he is very concerned. Just remember my post...
  12. Personally, I don't believe a major sponsor is picking him up...
  13. There is a difference between the range where all of those matches are held and the actual IDPA club. The range is South River Gun Club in Conyers/Covington. The range hosts the largest GSSF match in the circuit as well as many other leagues and major matches. The Greater Atlanta Defensive Pistol Association is a club that hosts matches all over the metro Atlanta area as well as the GA state IDPA match, which is held at South River.
  14. I am in no way accusing you of altering your score sheet. Repeat, I am in no way accusing you of altering your score sheet!! Is that the sheet that went in to scorekeeper or a carbon copy that was given to you? A scribble mark could be made on the original after the sheets have been separated and such a mark would not show on a carbon copy. Such a mark could be intentional, or it could be completely accidental. Again, I am in no way accusing you of altering your score sheet.
  15. I think that a FTDR is appropriate for profanity depending on the circumstances. If something just slips out during a stage, it's a bit more understandable than it being in response to getting a procedural. It's also different if someone is muttering to them self versus yelling out something. Perhaps the MD or an SO giving a discreet reminder would be in good order prior to a FTDR prior to giving a FTDR. Regardless, a shooter should know that they got a FTDR or any other penalty. It isn't something they should find out later when they see the scores.
  16. GlockTriggers.com sponsors this forum, and they have drop in trigger kits for the Glocks. Bob Vogel will have a signature kit out soon from them.
  17. I owned a Security Six and used Comp-III loaders with it. I don't care for the HKS ammo holders (nothing speed about them) but they are a cheap method of accomplishing load and make ready. As for loader carriers, I like those from Ready Tactical: http://www.cpwsa.com/ready_tactical.htm
  18. I have no first hand experience with Steel Challenge matches. I was reading the rule book last night in an attempt to learn about the divisions. I saw mention of an IDPA division with equipment following IDPA rules. Does this mean concealment? Is the IDPA division on encompassing division, or is it broken down further into the individual IDPA divisions? I'd also appreciate general information on the divisional breakdowns.
  19. I think he his asking why the online version of the rule book isn't simply updated.
  20. I emailed Robert Ray for several clarifications regarding the use of duty gear. I took copies of those emails with me to the sanctioned match where I used said gear just in case there was an issue.
  21. In GA, I'd have to say the go to guy for revolver training is Claude Warner: http://www.dryfire-practice.com/ Claude likes to shoot snubbies, and he competed at the Wheelgun Championship this weekend in Gainesville shooting a j-frame. He is an IDPA SSR master. I think he has a class in Americus in the fall, but I don't know if it is an open class or not.
  22. I did EX in SSP yesterday. Funny thing is that I was bit wild and dropped more points than my other runs, but I got it. I feel like I left 5 or 6 seconds on the range easily; so, I'm still not satisfied with it.
  23. I know how you feel. I shot the classifier this past Saturday. My previous attempt was 1.46 seconds short of EX, and I can easily see more than that time in my scores. I went into this one confident I could do it. Unfortunately, the slide on my G19 kept locking back on me. It did it at least four times. In the end, I was two less points down, but my time was worse, obviously. Turns out that the factory extended slide stop on my pistol had gotten bent out just enough for my support hand to come in contact with it. I have replaced it with another extended slide stop as that is all I had handy, but I will be switching everything back to standard slide stops ASAP.
  24. So many comments spring forth from this one: -Didn't Jamie say in the first show that he was dropped from SEAL training once due to injury and once upon request and that now he was a rescue swimmer? I don't know what the contestants actually see, but I have wondered all season why thy have harped on him so hard. -Ashley has not been one of the top performers all season. I wasn't shocked to see Joe eliminated him. I sure didn't expect that outburst from Ashley. It appeared to set the other guys back a bit. -At this point, I would like to see Jamie, Chris, and Joe in the finals and would prefer to see Jamie win it. Chris earned a measure of respect by taking a stand over Ashley's outburst. Joe earns a measure of respect for manning up. -Performance based? Really? What about the vote before the performance was even measured?
  25. I'm using Ahrends Retro Combats and Hogue Monogrips. I don't have a problem with either with the use of comp-III loaders.
