  1. brand new to reloading. i've been shooting atlanta arms .40 minor and major in my sti edge, 180fmj. looking to reload, a lot of bullet types (fmj, coated, plated, etc). can someone please help me understand the options, or even rank them from love to hate. this will be for uspsa, 2 & 3 gun, falling steel, etc. thanks!! and bonus points to anyone nice enough to spec out minor and major load recipes. i have a jar of titegroup so far... and yes, zero primers...
  2. i don't even know what i'm talking about, but JP says to get a "small base" full length sizing die for use in their AR's. Looking at forster's dies, I see no mention of small base. Do I need small base, does Forster have small base, or what? thanks!
  3. brand spanking new to reloading, have the press (redding t7 turret) etc inbound. first job is .223 for 2 & 3 gun out to ~500yds, going to try either 69g smk's or 53g vmax. range pickup brass. so i think i need a sizing / decapping die (full length size, small base) and then a bullet seating die (perhaps with built in micrometer). just the two dies or perhaps a crimping or similar or other die? die types and brand & model specifics greatly appreciated! below are size/decap and seating dies i'm looking at. yea or nay? oh yeah, and please rec and find me some small rifle primers!! 749-005-328WB Full Length Sizing Die 223 Rem (Small Base) Mfr Part: 91323 redding 747-000-147WB 223 Remington Seater Die Mfr Part: 11140 rcbs
  4. looks like that c2 comes with 126mm mags (17/18 rounds). so a 140 will hang out some. same deal with my tactical that has flush-fit 126's, no issues at all with using 140's.
  5. let's face it, the govt already knows about at least a couple of guns each of us has, so the allure of 80% sorta loses its luster. the "80%" gets a better grip angle and more stippling and that's its attractiveness to me. https://www.brownells.com/handgun-parts/frame-parts/frames/pfs9-serialized-frame-for-glock-17-22-aggressive-texture-prod118402.aspx?avs|Manufacturer_1=POLYMER80 if you agree, you can buy completed/serialized versions of these for less than the 80% kits. keep in mind though none of these are legal in uspsa for production or CO as they don't sell complete guns, stupid rule but it is what it is. option b if you do want grip angle, stippling, etc is get a zev oz9 frame and build that out, or get their complete oz9. either way, that is uspsa-legal as they do make complete guns.
  6. given that most stages don't require you to run around before drawing, a very simple reminder in the wsb to crank down your retention wouldn't have hurt anyone, would it? i realize this is a 'big boy' sport and we can't protect against everything, but if something is out of the ordinary on a stage why not make it apparent to those that might notice?
  7. this site doesn't seem to remember my login name and pw, i have to enter it every visit (i do have the box checked to 'remember me.') I re-enter my forum name and pw and it says it doesn't work, error code below, but it does in fact have my screen pic and name at top right. but again next time i go to this forum i have to do this all over again. no prob on other sites so either i have something messed up here or it's a site issue. help pls, thanks. Error code: 2S119/1

  9. depends on your gun and load. shoot it in 5yd increments 0-50yds so you know what if any holdover/under you need to do at a match.
  10. with every gun, barrel and load different from others, i'd just pick a zero (20-25 sounds good) and then shoot 0-50yds and see where you're hitting so you can adjust poa as needed at a match.
  11. any mbx sales or best places to buy? i need (want) one or two more...
  12. let's face it, some of our rules aren't super-intuitive. whipping out your pistol with the RO beside you before he says make ready but after everyone is behind the shooter isn't actually unsafe. nor is taking off holster with gun in it by the john nor is 185 degrees if no one is near that line. one reason a new shooter class or even a half hour intro session before their first match is a great idea. and telling newbies to ask questions if unsure isn't the best sole practice as they don't know what they don't know.

    G19 Trigger Work

not sure how much it matters, but check the spring beside the connector at the back of the trigger bar to ensure it's not installed upside down or it got sideways.

    G19 Trigger Work

i'd appreciate you sharing your tips and tricks! i just put the three zev springs and a ghost 3.5 connector in my g31 and the pull went only from 5.5 to 5, i'd certainly like better!
  15. the dc/dulles nation's gun show has been cancelled for a while but supposedly will happen later this august. figured there would be crazy long lines, not sure i want to deal with that.
  16. sure you can convert between 9 & 40 but there is some risk of bringing the wrong components to a match and/or the wrong ammo. for $5-600 or so just get a 2nd (or 3rd) glock (mitigated by not spending $$ on a conversion barrel plus you'll get 3 more mags for your collection, not to mention possible poa/poi issues). it's more the indian than the arrow, but the 35 really isn't the cat's meow if you want to shoot in limited division, you're competing against some super sweet triggers and actions in 2011 guns. i'd say stick with the g17 and put your money towards an ar15 if you don't already have one so you can shoot 2 Gun!
  17. well, you can hopefully have the best of both worlds... not mutually exclusive.
  18. MD's PLEASE don't reduce round counts! I'd rather skip a match here and there to save ammo vs shooting less at more matches. Between the commute time back and forth and 4-6 hours at a match, i damn sure want to get lots of shooting in!
  19. i didn't buy one but when i was looking i believe amazon had some good prices.

  21. that really needs to be spelled out when folks are registering for the match or when the match is advertised. ...in addition to the $25 match fee, all competitors must assist in taking down the stages and stowing the materials... one local match charges everyone an extra $10 and gives that back to whomever helps and stays until everything is stowed away.
  22. i get lots that say or nod ready but are still moving, twitching, deep breaths, etc. as long as no competitive advantage (reaching for gun or starting to run) i do AYR, SB, beep. but if they don't say or nod ready then i just wait until they are still.
  23. https://peacemakernational.com/2guntournament/ same range that has hosted the fnh 3 gun matches over the years. shoot it in one day. you can shoot it as an individual and/or a 2 man team. about 2 hours west of dulles intl airport. above winchester, va and below hagerstown, md, just 15 minutes off I-81 at the Inwood, WV exit. their normal, monthly 2 & 3 gun matches normally have two long range stages out to 500yds, 2 natural terrain stages and two bay stages. this match should be a little supersized.
