  1. secondary question - how many run lights on their 3gun handguns (tlr-1, x-300 etc) and how do lights affect holstering and draw? does the light create more to hang up on or is it a non-issue? on a side note, hammer got back to me almost immediately while safariland and weber did not.
  2. that actually looks like the ticket, thanks! i just emailed them to be sure their 5" sti tactical model will fit the mpa ds9 i have on order. from what i saw on safariland's website they say they don't fit 5" sti tactical with optic.
  3. i will check that out. but before posting above i did go thru safariland's site and it said nothing available for sti 5" tactical with an optic.
  4. Hi i have the safariland als holster (with hood) for my iron-sighted 2011 but i want to try a 2011 with a slide-mounted optic. The hood won't go over it, so guess i need something that has a thumb release that keys on the trigger guard. Not looking for an "open" holster. Any ideas, thanks?
  5. the sky's the limit in uspsa pcc division!!! mags, drums, etc.
  6. pretty sure i looked there earlier today and they were OOS. Midway has some but more dough. So I ordered one just now from Primary, thanks
  7. you can take a heat gun ( or oven) to the DOH piece and bend it so it points the holster down vs inward. been a year or two past that bladetech told me they were going to make straight drop pieces but i haven't seen them (but haven't really been looking).
  8. +1, superglad it's back!
  9. so, folks that don't shoot 2011s want to handicap the crap out of them. if you're going to allow them, allow them without some stupid trigger pull crap. and sure it's hard to measure, at a recent larger match, the guy at chrono couldn't even get my mag right in the mag gauge. and, only one type of gun is subject to this trigger rule...
  10. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. plus it's not all about trigger pull weight. it's more the geometry. i def don't want to have to f around with my gun to get the trigger pull up or down, and you can only imagine how inconsistent measuring this would be at a match, vs the ease of a mag gauge or chrono.
  11. m3 (but with an audi grill...) posted the rule. personally i think that rule should go away. not even sure why it is a rule, perhaps they didn't want a strap bouncing around. there is zero requirement to lock a typical open gun holster with no straps. and btw nroi confirmed that a "hood" is treated the same as a strap, so 3 gunners need to engage the hood if using for uspsa.
  12. i generally clean my guns after every match, at most two.
  13. not really helping you, but i just loaded a bunch of 38 super and ran out of the mtm ammo boxes and then filled up an ammo can.
  14. YES!! Done this 100s of times with leases, contracts, bank dox, etc.
  15. interesting, thanks! if you could supply a source and specifics on the media, i'd appreciate that.
  16. so i sent my sti tactical 4.0 2011 slide off to get milled for a red dot. pretty sure the factory slide was just blued and not dlc etc (ie, no coating). i had them cerakote the slide and they did the underbelly also. now the gun is not fully going into battery and i think it's because the lugs/recesses on the slide now have less room for the recesses/lugs on the barrel to mate. when i got it back the slide wasn't cycling at all so i had to sand down (mostly sand off) the cerakote inside of the slide's rails/recesses. in hindsight, i should have passed on the cerakote and just re-blued the section that was milled; it's hidden by the optic anyway. what's the best way to remove cerakote from the slide's lugs/recesses? is there a chemical that would dissolve it? really can't get an even sandpaper job in there. not that i have access to a sandblaster, but would that be the best way? other options? thanks!
  17. glock 43x in a tulster aiwb. can't imagine a better concealed carry combo esp with the shield 15-rounders.
  18. haven't played with atlas. had a wilson tactical elite 1911 in 45 that was just an awesome gun. fit, finish, accuracy, reliability, all perfect. unfortunately not legal (other than open) in any of the various game divisions so i sold it. but especially if you are going to actually carry/use the gun, i would "stop" at tactical elite and not spring the extra dough for the little bit extra looks of the supergrade.
  19. i've been using new starline 38 super brass. no lube (and removed sizing die). it was sticking terribly when the case was being pulled down out of the powder die, so the press was jerking and powder was flying out of the cases. so i did above like i do for used & cleaned brass, spray one shot in a bag and dump in some brass and shake it up. that seems to get enough in the top of the case so it doesn't stick in the powder (expander) die. when the finished rounds come out i'll take out a handful at a time and shake them around in a towel to get any excess lube off. the towel turns black pretty quickly.
  20. just with basic math, with time in the denominator, time is of the essence. going 15% faster is better than getting 15% more points, though not by a bunch. baseline 15% more points 15% less time points 100 115 100 seconds 15 15 12.75 hit factor 6.67 7.67 7.84
  21. i've seen srp and not spp rec'd for major PF limited and open loads. is this widely accepted/recommended? what is trying to be achieved and what is proof of it being achieved (perhaps more fps per grain of powder, lower SD)? they're generally around the same price so just curious. thanks!
  22. damn, at 50 yds i can barely see the target, that's some TIGHT shooting!
  23. if i were to guess, some 25 stages or so incl some higher round count falling steel matches.
  24. i have the glock version. it took a crap the first stage i used it on but has worked perfectly since then dozen or so matches.
