I have not shot IDPA in a while. But I thought for some reason that they followed what ever the manufacturer weight was. Not what was done to the gun. Changing grips was OK. But milling and ETC was not ok
For ESP, it looks like they changed it and as long as it makes weight and fits in the box it's good to go.

How many ounces does it need to drop ?
I don't have the grips in hand yet but I weighed the gun with an empty p10f mag and it came to 44.4 oz,
The grips are 2.0oz and it seems like the lok lightweight grips are 1.45oz so it needs to drop another .9oz (round it up to an additional oz to be on the safe side)

I brought mine to the range this past weekend. It shoots great! I just bought some Lok lightweight palmswell grips for it.
I am looking for a way to have it drop some weight so I can use it in IDPA. I don't think the grips alone will get there.
Maybe there is a shop out there that could tri-top the slide (not sure if there is enough material for that). Anyone know of any companies that will take the work on?

Has anyone weighed it with a magazine? I know published weight is 43oz but is that with or without the magazine?
I think this could be a heck of a idpa ESP gun.

I'd look at a red hill tactical holster level 2 type holster for the kind of games you are playing
I have the alpha x and love it but wouldn't use it in those types of settings.

I have a cheely xwf that Matt built. It is awesome. I'm not sure if he's back to building guns again though.

Sometimes the timing is off and I’m full. I do build guns for stock from time to time. My comment to the OP still stands. There are companies building good guns that don’t cost a fortune.
I was just messin with ya. I would love to own a venom one day though.

Do more research. You don’t have to spend 6k to get a gun far better than MPA.
Maybe but you said your queue was full and couldn't build me an idpa gun

Yes sir! Just request 10 round mags when you order.
Thank you David! I'm planning to order soon.

Thanks, I did see this. It was helpful but I wanted to see if there were anymore videos/reviews on the idpa version

Anyone try the ds9 hybrid idpa model? I'm planning to get back into idpa and my limited gun won't work for idpa so I've been eyeing this.
Also does anyone know if mpa will ship the gun with neutered 10 round mags?

Looks like nighthawk has their own version of magazine out now that looks similar to the tripps.

Is anyone here shooting a VP9L? I am curious about how much of an advantage the long slide provides.
The same advantage you would get from moving up from a glock 17 to a 34.

Red hill tactical?

The Tripp magazines that I had for my STI sentry were flawless, they never failed on me.
I shouldn't have sold that gun...

You'll see anywhere from 5grains to 5.5 grains to make major depending on your barrel.

I had a freedom gunworks limited gun built by Bobby (the K in CK) it runs like a top. I'd go with the CK over the staccato xl

I have the standard grip texture on my cheely and have no problem with my hands slipping. It is grippy enough for me.

It's been a while since I shot idpa, do they still have the no slide lightening rule?

What do you want to know that hasn't been covered by this thread?
I was just curious on the locked versus unlocked draw. From reading the thread I wasn't sure if you were required to keep it locked and unlock it on the draw stroke or if you could use it unlocked like other race holsters
-
Has anyone done a video review other than the one posted from shot show?

I've personally had good luck with the wilson combat 10 rounders if you wanted to try those out too.

Love mine, just trying to make it cut enough weight for IDPA ESP division
