  1. GrayGuns has some cool modifications for your P226, if you decide to "game". Titanium firing pin blocks, slightly extended mag releases, etc. They are pretty down to earth people and I bet if you gave them a call they would help you out. They also do gunsmithing that can improve trigger pull, etc. Total Automation also has some tweaks (although I've never tried them). Good luck and good shooting.
  2. I haven't had any issues with the CZ model or the MecGar 19 rounders. I prefer the ease of take down with the MecGar and they are less expensive. With that said, I just picked up another 3 MecGar at CDNN Investments for $30 a piece.
  3. Regarding marking, I do have a holster wear mark on the front LH corner of the dust cover (referenced when looking at the rear of the slide) on my Shadow. Finish is worn down right to bare metal. Anyone else have the same issue using a Bladetech DOH? I have wear on the front left dustcover just above the rail cut as well. I just sent my weapon off to IonBond. We'll see how it does after that. I'd consider the Alpha just for this reason. It's not that it hurts anything, I'm just particular.
  4. What sort of load were you using in yours? I've yet to have issues except when I went close to or below minimum power factor. I took my All Around out today since my CZ is getting coated and 200 rounds of 124gr MG HP and 7.7gr of AA#7 later, there wasn't a hicup. Maybe I'm just lucky....
  5. I thought the X-5 extractor issue is only with the 9mm? If it's jamming during feeding it would also be different from the 9mm issues I have heard about (failure to extract). I'd strongly suspect the Pro-Mag magazine as well. In my experience they are poor. Are there any burrs on the feed lips? Does it have feed issues when you only load 5 rounds? Is the follower tipping upwards? You might be able to tweak the feeding lips to push the round down. I bet if you search in the 1911 section, you could get some hints on how the 2011 guys are tweaking them (bending in the forward part of the lip for example). If it's really a pain to get mags in Aus, then maybe you could get a new SIG/Mecgar follower and a spring and tweak the feeding lips? That should be about as good as you can do. ...just and idea.
  6. +1 for this load. Soft shooting, and pretty clean.

    Sig P226 TO

I really like the SIG P226 platform. With some trigger work and a fiber optic front sight, you should have a fine weapon for Production. Some G10 grips don't hurt either. It's got good balance and will be accurate enough. My personal preference is that the X-Five is a little heavy towards the front and it seems to cycle slower. The all stainless construction and detail of fitting and finish is a bonus and they are typically quite accurate. In my opinion the SRT is a gimmick and a good trigger job and a standard trigger will produce better results. I've noticed gun ownership is much more difficult in Europe and people tend to spend more money on their weapon since it's a little more difficult to aquire one than the US. However, a West German P226, with a fitted Bar-Sto barrel and a trigger job will shoot just as good as anything out there. Blade-Tech are good hosters, but I think IPSC allows a Ghost holster which would be faster. Dawson Precision and Warren make good sights. I don't find much different between beavertail and standard. With that said, I have moved to a CZ Shadow Custom. I know you aren't intrested in them, but as a SIG lover, you might want to consider them. They have similar ergonomics to SIG, but with a lower bore axis and the trigger is capable of being tuned to lower pulls than the SIG (at least what I have seen come out of "top named gunsmiths). They are also cheaper than a SIG so you can use the extra money for tuning or more ammo/accessories. My CZ Custom Shadow will shoot nearly as accurate as my X-Five All Around. Just my opinion, good luck in your search... Skål
  8. Did you throat or ream the chamber on your KKM Match barrel? The Gunsmith/Match version is "shorter" (extra material) for availabilty of fit in aftermarket slides. Just thought I'd mention it, if you didn't already know.
  9. So it sounds like you are trying to crimp on the oglive. I've gotten away with Montana Gold 124gr Hollow points but I stick with 357SIG specific bullets for the reason you mentioned. I hope it works out for you with the new bullets.
  10. In the past RCBS had die issues with the 357 SIG. The 357 SIG headspaces off the shoulder, not the mouth. RCBS factory setting were incorrect. However, that doesn't sound like your issue (just thought I'd mention it). When you run your case through just the sizing die will the bullet still slide in?...or is only after flaring/bell?
  11. I see the area 3 shoot is in Grand Island. Contact Info Jeremy Millard Grand Island, NE 68803 Home: (785) 764-2027 Work: (308) 382-1390 Fax: (308) 382-5761 Email: jmillard@hornady.com
  12. Welcome! I think North Platte still has USPSA shoots at Platte River Sportsman's Club if you are more "out west" (doesn't sound like it). I know it doesn't make you feel any better, but I have to drive similar distances in North Carolina (more populated) to make matches. Almost everytime it is worth it!
  13. I just ordered 1k of these to try. I'm tired of not being able to find Zero 124gr JHP's, and I've heard that Montana Gold's are usually available. If these work well in my Shadow, they'll be my new bullet of choice. I like Zero's a lot, just can't find them when I need them. Also using N320. I think you will love them. I've never had a hickup with these and they are accurate. I just can't believe you only bought 1k!
  14. I hope no one going to this match will frequent Legz in Martinsburg WV, or eat fine German food and beer at Schamkerlstube in Hagerstown....hint hint.
  15. What on earth is that on the end of your barrel? Old school Fabian Brothers Comp/Flash Supressor (it was in my spare parts box). I'll probably switch to the Corvette comp.
  16. The illumination intensity button is kind of a pain as I think it has too much adjustment. I'm not sure what the reticle T bars are useful for. Also, with the center reticle dot size, no "precision" work can be done but that's kind of the idea of the scope I guess. I was able to get about a 1 MOA group at 100yds doing my best to center the dot on the larger black circular target. Overall I am happy with the optic and PEPR mount. Here are some shameless photos of the installation.
  17. 5.7 & 5.9gr of AA#5 with 1.095" OAL. Still smokey, but not as bad as others...
  18. I just got a game called "Reload" for the Nintendo Wii. It has some interesting shooting scenarios and some USPSA type targets on some stages. It's been pretty addictive since I haven't been making it to the range. For $20 it's well worth it.
  19. I just tried some Precision (moly) 124gr TC with AA#5, #7, WSF, HP38 and VV 320. They all smoked pretty good, especially during rapid fire. I think AA#5 and VV320 were the best. Precision are fine in my 45ACP but no luck yet in 9mm.
  20. I caught that game at Bosselmans Truck Stop in Grand Island, Nebraska this Thanksgiving time frame. The scope was out of calibration, but still good fun. I think there's another tread about this game if you search around. No word on if they will make it available for newer game platforms. I've been playing Wii Dangerous Game Hunter since Christmas
  21. Is it about 0.337" Blade height or 0.400" from the base of the dovetail to the top of sight (heighest point)? If so then it's a LPA Standard Adjustable (images below). They also offer a low profile. The Fiber Optic sight is TTF28SS and the standard is SPR28SS. They run $30 for replacement front. I think Top Gun Supply has the sets. The replacement parts have to be purchased through the local distributor (USA info below). 22. Because they are all a little different. Wilson is just file back the hood. Bar-Sto is the hood length and the lug. Briley is the hood length, width, lug and ramp. IMHO, files are the way to go. Instructions and the places to cut/file come in the packages with the barrels. Each Glock is different enough that you won't always cut the barrel the same, thus the files and hand fitting. Just to through it out there, if you get a KKM Match Gunsmith barrel, you will need to ream the chamber/throat. The drop in model will be just fine. Apparently the Gunsmith barrel is a little "short" due to the slide differences between factory Glock and aftermarket slides. I have not installed a Barsto on a Glock buy my experience with SIGs has been fitting of the barrel hood (hand file/stone is fine) and occasionally the lug area (file/stone)
  23. Go Huskers! I used to shoot at Platte River Sportsman Club many years ago. Believe or not we have more snow in "the south" than Nebraska this year but no -10 below and 40 mile winds. Best wishes and Happy New Year.
  24. I've found that Varget produces a more accurate load (for my 556 rifles) but 2230 meters much better. It's not considerably worse..maybe 1/4-1/3 MOA? If you are interested in saving time when reloading a lot, I'd go for 2230. I find Varget needs to have about every charge weighed in my Hornday bench rest powder drop (+/-.1 gr maybe). I use 25gr of 2230 for the 55gr FMJBT, 22.5 for the 69gr SMK (I need to double check that one) and 25.3gr of Varget for the more accurate 69gr SMK. If you are looking at other powders, Powder Valley is a good place. You need to order a bunch to offset the Hazmat fee. F.Y.I. TAC meters like 2230 but has a burn rate closer to Varget (inbetween 2230 and Varget). Good luck.
