  1. I'm glad I found this thread. It's inconsistant in happening and my big hands probably don't help the issue. I'd like to put a much higher rate spring in, but I don't know where to look. Maybe a small spacer?

I'll have to try "the other" safety in the future.

  2. It could also be hitting your slide release (just an idea). The Shadow Custom I have, has had the profile ground down and I did the same on my stainless (just to be sure).

  3. You're welcome.

Some people from Göteborg are shooting, and they're pretty good at it. But they have yet to organise their first official competition.

Your friend must have an IPSC license to compete.

I'm one of them too, except I don't jump out of a plane. ;)

I'll send him on the information. I've also been sending him USPSA magazines from the US.

Are you out of Karlsborg? It's a nice place. It was nothing like US military bases except the lack of suitable women. ;)

  4. I don't run AA #7 in an Open Gun, but use it in 357 SIG, 9mm, and 40 S&W. It does leave some small brown spherical residue in all weapons. It's never caused a failure though.

What is your 357 sig recipe?

For higher a end load, I like 11.4gr of AA#7 behind a 125gr Gold Dot or Montana Gold FMJ. This is above some posted manuals but I've never had signs of overpressure out of a SIG P226 or P229.

  5. Makes me wonder if the Decocker would have a advantage starting at 1/2 cock vs fully down. I know the decocker is harder to get that perfect trigger on.

I would say yes if you are running the 20lb factory main spring, which I do on my kadet kit, but otherwise its only a slight advantage.

I have enough other problems for this to be an advantage. However I suppose it could be a few thousandths quicker to squeeze off a round.

  6. Blade Tech Sting Ray belt holster with the DOH attachment for Production. Could you please elaborate as to why your club wants to ban the Serpa.

I was told that a guy in michigan shot himself in the leg 2 weekends ago because of the retention buttons position. HE was shooting a glock though. I did a google search about it and did find other complaints of similar issues from other people. When I draw my trigger finger lands squarly on the side of the frame of my 226, maybe it is different with a glock. I dont really want to continue training with that holster just to have it get banned at some point in the future.

ps. my normal club I shoot with has never said a word about the holster, I shot a match at a new club this past weekend and they brought it up without knowing I was using a serpa.

I was on a stage next to a guy who shot himself in the leg with a Glock via a draw from a Serpa. I think he had other issues, but I could see a Serpa/Glock being of more "risk". Point is to keep the finger off the trigger. SIGs have way too much DA pull length for that to be a worry anyway. I used one with a P226 when I first got back into shooting "action pistol" shooting. I now prefer Bladetech for Production but there are others just a suitable. Your draw times will definately improve. Good luck in your quest.

  7. I use some Casey's Gun Scrubber (with straw) in the extractor area after every use. Otherwise Hoppes #9 or Breakfree on the rest of the weapon. I like foaming bore cleaner too.

I don't think they need this much attention, but I have a personality disorder about dirty weapons from a former life

  8. is the trigger free to move or is it stuck in one place?

Not 100% on this but I believe it was free to move. Felt very much like having the thumb safety on (cocked & locked).

So far, I haven't had this happen in double action, just single.

I had that happen when my trigger reset screw was in too far. It was just at the edge of the limit and didn't happen all the time. I backed out 1/2 turn and never had an issue. Luckily I noticed it during dry fire.

  9. I like CR Speed and Blade-Tech. The CR speed have more room to get your finger lower when "pulling" the magazine. Both are fine and I never had issues with either as long as I set them up correctly.

  10. 10-4 on the multiple wear points. It bothers me that my new gun is scratched but at the same time I bought it to use it.

I had mine coated at IonBond last month. Going to see how it does in regards to wear...

Nice blaster. What kind of grips are on it?

Hogue G10 checkered. VZ work pretty well too.

  12. Geez, you'd think that he could turn off the fan for 3 minutes and not shout over the roar...

I looks like it gets hot in that garage that guys is in. Maybe that is why the fan was at full blast.

I'll never get that 2 minutes and 35 seconds of my life back.

    (time is correct...I quit watching)

  13. ck1 -- on extractor spring, what is considered "a lot" of rounds? I have about 9,000 on the gun. How often should I replace the extractor spring?

Well, 9,000 sounds like it wouldn't be a bad idea to pull the extractor and at least give it a full-on cleaning as there's probably a decent amount of crud stuck back there, might want to change the spring out anyhow once you have it apart... You'll be able to get a good look at the extractor too and if it's chipped or looks worn just take care of it as well, might just be crud though...

I replace extractor and recoil springs at 5-6000 rounds. Premature?...probably. Considering it's less than $10 to do this it's cheap "insurance" to avoid failures. In my opinion the extractor spring/area is a weak spot for the CZ75 and needs attention. Pressure cleaning of debris is a must (I like Gunscrubber) and occasional disassembly to detail clean. This is my experience at least. Good luck, I hope your future matches go better.

  14. Are flat triggers a gimmick? What do they offer that standard triggers do not?

I think regardless of where you place your finger on the trigger face the pull "feels" the same (consistancy). I've also heard people say it makes the trigger feel "lighter". For example, at an indoor shooting range I visit occasionally, the gentlemen working there carries a 1911 (with curved trigger). He shot my 1911 and commented how light my trigger was. He thought it was about a 1.5lb trigger. I told him I was getting 3.5lb from my puller and we set it up on the shops Lyman digital and it was 3.25lbs.

  15. I will see about changing the trigger once I get the other grips on. I had a little bit of issue with too much trigger finger but my main issue is actually in the grip itself.

When I get a chance to go back out I will have to try it all out and test all the mags, and go from there.

I think at this point I just need a holster.

Check out Bladetech. I think they are a "defacto" choice. I have about 5 different holsters and the Bladetech is the better choice for "gaming". You can change the attachment method from a DOH (USPSA) to a Stingray (IDPA) with a few screws. Of course you can run a Stingray type attachement for both USPSA and IDPA.
