  1. My rifle pictured above is an 18" gun. I really like that setup. It has a prototype front sight tower that I made last year. I put it down the list until I got my cnc milling machine online. My machine is now online, and the pictures that you have posted brought it back up the list. So, is it safe to assume, if you are shooting a match with targets 450 and in you would reach for the 18" gun before the 22"?

450 would be a toss up and more dependent on what kind of targets and stages made up the other 70+% of the rifle targets.

  2. So, is there a noticeable improvement over a 20"?

A longer sight radius offers a greater latitude in misalignment than a shorter one.

You or me making use of that is the question.

I built the 18" Iron as I wanted something faster for bay stages. It does in fact have more sight radius that a stock 20" A2 carbine.

  3. XS Rear with a notch filed in (makes it look more like a standard pistol rear) Dovetailed in a pistol front sight to match.

As far as them getting in the way...I personally have not had any issue. In fact I set a course record a couple years ago at the 5-Stand

at Rio Salada using my 3Gun shotgun equipped with that sight set up.

  4. The gun ran for over 3000 rounds with the TTI lifter after a small tube at install. Mostly Federal birdshot 3 dram at 1200. Just under 500 of the 1oz slugs at 1500fps and under 250 buckshot. Under 20 turkey/pheasant 3" loads total through it.

There was a different intermittent issue at installation of the TTI lifter with 1/100 shells jamming forward into the sharp part of the chamber. At that point the shell catch was tuned and the sharp edge smoothed by my gunsmith. After that tuning, she ran great until the issue this weekend.

Might be the source of the problem and the solution.

  5. Interesting . . . Could you provide more details.

I've seen a few of the takedown versions. At least that's what they looked like when they came apart. On the clock.

Some guns have suffered from loading port being "hogged-out" that leaves the mag tube thread area of the

receiver compromised allowing the tube to remove itself from the receiver without request.

  6. Pat's picture is faster than my typing. But the components are similar. Same rear sight, but his front looks like the Armalite FSB instead of the JP.

Yup you got the parts right...I save money where I can and the Armalite is (was) less than 1/2 the JP.

18" barrel light profile barrel for the speedy stuff....but that dang carbine rocks out long too!
