Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I havent tried the bullets you mentioned but my 9mm AR runs and shoots great with the same load I shoot through my CZ: 125 gr Precision FT 3.8gr Solo 1000 CCI 500 OAL 1.090 Larry
  2. I shoot 200gr lead SWC loaded to 1.25 OAL out of all my .45's, has worked fine for almost 30 years. Larry
  3. The lubed pistol case comment was taken and returned in jest The referenced link doesn't prove that a manual is needed, only proves you cant fix stupid Larry
  4. I don't know where you're getting your seating stems, but I have plenty of them that push on the side of the bullet....and I'm loading for a pretty broad range or cartridges. Dillon dies come with two stems for this very reason...so you can pick the one that will contact the side of bullet, rather than the tip. After reading your post I checked my 45 and 9mm seater stems (my dillon dies came with one stem that is reversable, one end for ball and one end for flat/hollow point bullets) both bottom out on the tip of the flat points I am loading, dont have any ball bullets to check. Now on rifle bullets I agree with you, the seater presses on the upper part of the ogive. Larry
  5. Use it to lube inside of case necks. Get it for $1 an once at http://www.ballisticproducts.com/Mica-Wad-Slick-can_8-oz/productinfo/MICA/ Larry
  6. Let's say you make $25/hr. Imagine if you were to do all that online research and compile a notebook/binder with the info. Would it take you more than 1 hr? For $25 (cost of a reloading manual), Lee/Hornady/Lyman/and Sierra have already done that for you!!! To each his own.....heck, some people lube their pistol cases!!! JMO I dont load for every caliber listed in the manuals. Do you? If not that is just wasted paper. But whatever blows your skirt up. He was asking for opinions and I gave him mine. Use your book money to buy components or tools that like a chronograph, and get your load data for free. Larry P.S. You go right ahead and keep lubing your pistol cases and buying manuals if it makes you happy.
  7. All of the powder manufactures have there load data available online, you can do a google search and find detailed drawings and deminsions of every cartridge case known to man, all the current reloading equipment manufactures have there manuals available online, so I would say no, except the old manuals might help if you want to do some research during a power failure or if you need to prop a door open. Larry
  8. While shopping at walmart I found a magnetic/clamp on, battery operated LED light in the grill area that is heavy enough to free stand on a wooden bench (but the magnet base works great on a steel top) for $17.00. I like it adjusted to look down between stations 2-3 to check the powder charge, works great. Larry
  9. Agreed. I pretty routinely see a variance of .003-.005. Remember, the seating die "pushes" on the ogive of the bullet, not the tip, so any variation in the ogive shape from bullet to bullet will cause the OAL to be a little off. Some brands of bullets are more consistent than others in this regard. He is loading 45ACP, pistol seaters push on the tip of the bullet, rifle seaters dont push on the tip, but not far enough down to touch the ogive. in any case a.003-.005 variation wont be noticed in a handgun. Larry
  10. You mean you were being snide with your "that's a lot of help" comment? That does seem to violate rule number one of the forum guidelines: "Be polite". Of course the guidelines also say "Especially if you're new, please do a search before starting a new thread." That's so the same information is kept in just a few threads, and not spread all over the forum...makes it easier for everybody to find, not just the OP (not that anybody here would be that selfish). Honestly, there are a whole bunch of threads on this very topic, and I didn't know if you were aware of them, which is why I mentioned it in my first post, and then even gave you the exact terms ("Trojan 9mm) to use if you were really interested in getting answers. Since that must be a completely unreasonable expectation, don't worry, I dug up the answers for you.... I did search, and have read a lot of those threads. I was more interested in what was successfully used and not what was causing problems. From info in a few of those threads I ordered some 130 BBI's and some 125 HAP's and will try differannt OAL starting at about 1.14" Larry p.s. I apologize if I hurt your feelings
  11. Sure thing! I figured you wouldn't need anybody else to search "Trojan 9mm" in the 1911 section, so I didn't bother doing it for you....200+ posts on this exact topic in the first two pages, plenty of reading and you can decide for yourself. Hey bart, I would appreciate it if you would just ignore this thread if you dont have anything worth contributing. Larry
  12. Have you thought to read the multiple, exhaustive threads in the 1911 section that are specifically about 9mm Trojans and feeding/mag/bullet/etc issues?
  13. I have rat holed enough brass and want to start loading for my 9mm Trojan, shooting IDPA and steel matches. Does the ramped Trojan barrel feed hollow points and flat points reliably? Which bullets work in yours and at what OAL? Thanks Larry
