  1. The footprint is slightly different as stated. Longer font and rear, from the screw holes. FTP will provide a print on request. Fortunately I'm friends with a (only slightly evil) genius of a machinist, he matched the front "W" profile and the rear radius perfectly. (have pics, but I get a file size error) Couple hundred rounds through it today. Nothing significant to add, except I wish I had not waited to go to a dot. I started to have a pretty significant shift in eyesight around age 40. That front sight has gotten tougher and tougher. Turn 46 this week and I was happy to see, that the dot helped immensely with eye strain and focus. Looking forward to spending more time on the range with it.
  2. Anyone have this slide mounted on a Glock? Slide is cut for a RTS2, any modification required? Thanks Vince
  3. The 105s should not work with 1:10, but that doesn't mean that they won't. I'm shooting the 85gr Berger Classic hunters over H4350. 3000fps out of 24" barrel. Hodgen has recommended charge weights on their website.
  4. Can someone please link the 3GN rules? PDF would be great. I've been all over their website with no luck. I've found a club that listed a version, but would love a PDF straight from 3GN. http://www.orsa3gun.com/Rules.htm The 3GN "rules" page is very short on rules. http://3gunnation.com/the_series/rules Thanks Vince
  5. Voltage regulator took a dump just South of Lewiston ID. I limped it along on battery alone to a gas station just south of nowhere. Lucky for me all the stuff for the motorhome is on a different battery bank and I had heat, lights, etc. last night. Just at the edge of cell service so no internet. Had to wait for the in-laws to drive down this AM. We switched the alternator and battery before we figured it out. Bummer on many levels. Missed the match I'd been looking forward too and preparing for months. Out the match fees. Out two large tanks of gas. My in-laws were actually nice enough to loan me their RV. The additional irony is they just bought a newer one and sent me with the old one, since it was "proven" and they haven't done a long trip with the new one yet. Oh, well I figure today is my pity party. A few martinis later and I'll be feeling better! Cheers Vince
  6. Spent last night on the side of the road halfway to Parma. Missing Area 1 Multigun to limp my FILs motorhome back home. Bummed does even begin. Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk
  7. So I keep meaning to clean my gun(s). I have not cleaned my Gen 4 G17 in several matches, and I meant to clean it before I attended a 2 day advanced handgun class. I messed up the dates and my Sun practice session turned into another match. I just keep hosing it down with CLP as a band-aid. To be honest in the approaching 1 year of ownership. I've disassembled the gun only once for cleaning. The class itself was 1800 rounds over two days, figure 120 for each match and I'm easily into the 2500+ round count, where the only love I've shown my Glock is to hose it down with CLP before each session. Now I'm no banner waving brand champion. (I keep meaning to switch cleaner/ lubricants after reading a awesome test on another forum). But it's just cool that it continues to work despite my abuse. Cheers Vince
  8. Well the good news is that Mossberg sent me 3 forearm retainers for the price of one. The bad news is that it won't ship till after area 1. It was $48 for express and $65 for overnight on a part that weighs 10 grams and cost $4. EB, thanks I could also get a slightly taller front sight . Does anyone know if shooting about 150 rounds without the retainer will be cause any harm? Better yet does anyone want to send me their used one for a new one, priority mail on my dime? Cheers Vince Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk
  9. Well, through stupidity or at least inattention I managed to destroy my forearm retainer. I am praying that Mossberg can overnight me one. I leave for a match on Fri AM. If not I'll shoot it without. On a somewhat brighter note: I ordered the Hivis rear sight and dialed in a 200yd zero. Slugs were shooting 6" right, so I ordered up the rear sight in an attempt to overcome that. I succeeded, but as the lowest setting, as far back as I can mount the sight it hits 5" at precisely 12 O'clock at 25yds. The only other option at this point is to remove the elevation ramp entirely. But I am done messing with it until after Area 1. 5" high I can deal with. I love the Hivis sight it definitely lives up to it's name. Cheers Vince
  10. WINNER, new clips are in and are great! This is a tough call. The vest requires a little more care with the mount than the belt. To be continued......... Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk
  11. Well, the stages look fun and challenging. I had a minor freak out,(OMG THAT'S LIKE TWO WEEKS AWAY AND I STILL HAVE A LIST OF STUFF TO DO, NOT THE LEAST OF WHICH IS TO MOUNT MY OPTIC, OH AND I DON'T KNOW MAYBE PRACTICE SOMETHING!) but I'm over it(for)now. I've struggled at the distance targets in the past and sometimes the Texas Star and I aren't on friendly terms. But even when I struggle I'm still having a blast! Thank (insert deity of choice here). Can't wait That is all. Cheers Vince
  12. You beat me to it. I received the same email. Can't wait to try the new clips. This might change my opinion since it could eliminate my only complaint. Cheers Vince Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk
  13. Can't figure out how to edit my update in the original post. Is there a time limit on edits, or am I dense? Vince
  14. Updated to the review: I was gone over the weekend, and left shells in the Load Two belt. It significantly loosed the grip on the shells. They still require a firmer grip than the TWiNS or else the shells will shift in your grip as you strip them. I personally would not start with a dremel on these. I would start with leaving the shells in and practicing with it to break it in. If it still isn't as loose as I want, my next step will be some light polishing. Cheers Vince
  15. Bela at Chameleon answered my emails very quickly. I did wait a long time for shipping but that seems to be a anomaly. Right now I would try the Otto version. As nice as the Chameleon-Fabrics belt is, it has too much tension on the shells out of the box. I have left some shells in mine to see if that makes a difference and will report back with results. 16. Put about 150 rounds through my 930 today mostly wally world Federal. 1 malfunction, but it would be a show stopper in a match. Added some lube and had no more hiccups, but you've sowed the seeds of doubt.
  17. Finally got to the range with a stack of slugs. Shocked at the lack of recoil. The B&P slugs felt like low brass 7s. Everything shot well and about 4-6" right at 50yds. This is 20yds offhand. I have a 50yd target , but since we used the little cards that they hand out to advertise "escorts" as targets it's prob not appropriate material for the forum. Just more holes in paper. About hand sized groups all on the right side. We even took some offhand shots at 185 yds with the Fiochi with surprising results. Steel IPSC silhouette, in 5 shots I didn't hit it, came within a few inches. With a scope or rifle sights I would bet some money on that shot.
  18. 1st time out with TWiNS today. I did 2 runs off the belt and 1 off the vest. I averaged about 12 sec shot to shot. Loved both. I need to sand the TWiNS on the belt, they stabbed me in my soft underbelly the whole time, especially if I bent over. Overall happy with the belt set up. We'll see if I change my tune after a match.
  19. I agree with the comments on the Load Two belt. It's built bomber and is very comfy. If it didn't have a such a death grip on the shells it would be awesome. Especially at the price. The TWiNS is all that and a bag of chips, but it cost almost as much as as some of the guns I compete with. Lol Cheers Vince Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk
  20. In case you were curious. Load Two Belt by Chameleon: $117 holds 20 rounds Carbon Arms TWiNS $200 holds 16 rounds (Pictured is a $50(?)V-TAC MOLLE rig with $230 worth of TWiNS) Side by side of individual shell holders. The Chameleon is molded and the TWiNS is machined. The Load Two appears to be much stouter, it's much smoother all around since it's molded. You could easily fix the sharp edges on the TWiNS with a little sandpaper (if they are even a factor for you) The Load Two belt holds the shells too securely. While this may change with use. The TWiNS is way easier to strip shells from out of the box. So for a cheap option at the cost of a little speed (may change with use?) the Load Two is great. For more speed out of the box and more versatility (more mounting configurations) with double or triple the cost the TWiNS is the way to go. If the Otto belt combines the speed of TWiNS near the same price point as the Chameleon, it will be a winner. In the end, they both have strengths and weaknesses. For me, I'll prob be sticking with the TWiNS. Cheers Vince
  21. Mocking up my Safariland ELS belt for multi-gun and playing with Carbon Arms TWiNS. Disclaimer: I have no idea what I'm doing! Oh and I'm a freak. Cross dominant shoot pistol righty, long guns lefty. So my ammo placement is weird. Initial mockup. Setting up the ELS belt is a pain. I hope the payoff is a versatile belt setup that always has exactly what I need and nothing else. With the buckle in the back it's a PAIN to put on. If someone at a match asks for help getting dressed it is prob me. The issue is the velcro sliding through the keeper; it doesn't want to. Looks like I have plenty of room. I'll prob stick 4-5 TWiNS on my belt and see how it works. I do plan on putting more space fore and aft of my holster. Obviously I'm making stuff up, so it does require a little modding. A hole drilled in the ELS adapter will net you two attachment points for the TWiNS. A slanted mount is possible using only one attachment point. Should not be an issue as this is how Carbon Arms mounts them. (With lock washers) It looks I have room for 6-8 TWiNS across. Not nearly as much capacity as standard shell holders. But I don't spend enough time practicing shotgun reloads, so I'm hoping the TWiNS will make up for some of my lack of dedication. I have found is that my wrist/ hand angle is way more natural grabbing the vertical or slightly canted TWiNS than a trad shell holder. I guess you could do this with tech-loks or other attachment devices just as easily. Since I have not seen anyone else doing this, it leads me to two possible conclusions. 1: I'm a genius! B: It's a stupid idea. Thankfully both conclusions are not mutually exclusive. A Blade-tech AR mag holder works perfectly with the ELS adapter with no modification other than longer screws, using all three attachment points. TWiNS on a MOLLE rig. Final tally will be about 26 rounds in TWiNS and 8 in the gun. More than 34 rounds for a stage and I'm going to pockets, teeth, hiding them on the stage?
  22. Gen 4 17 approx 10 months and 2k rounds. Cleaned it for 1st time last month. Have had 2 stovepipes. 1st right out the box and last was last match. I prefer a stock gen 4 grip over a stock gen 3 grip. A hacked gen 3 grip is great as well. Personal preference. I would not base my choice on the issues the gen 4 had when it came out over a year ago. Glock is still Glock. It always works and the trigger is always the same. 23. I personally love the one I built. No regrets! Vince Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk
