    M&P40 Pro

I'll see if I can get an update for you this week. I would think they would be pretty close. Thanks on the video! Are you talking about the main video on my site? Julie

    M&P40 Pro

Got an email from John Amidon. Both the standard and 5" M&P Pro Series .40 are legal in Limited, L10 and Open. John said he'll have it published in the next front sight but they are OFFICIALLY legal in those divisions. I'll see what I can do about Production next! Julie

    M&P40 Pro

THANKS JULIE! I'm sure there are many of us that are happy to hear this...Does this mean these models are automatically approved or will it take some time before they are legal for L and L10? I got an email from John that he had received it and he is usually all over this sort of thing so I would imagine it would be legal pretty quick. Hope that helps! Julie

    M&P40 Pro

Hi Ryan, Paperwork for the 4” M&P 40 Pro and the 5” M&P 40 Pro was submitted to John Amidon via email for the Limited & Limited 10 Division requirements last week. I'll do my best to check the status for Production and request that be submitted as well. All the best, Julie

    M&P40 Pro

Let me see what I can do first. Please just give me one more week. I know everyone at S&W is swamped and bombarding customer service on the issue just creates more work for them and it's not their fault. I'll keep you posted. If you want to inundate anyone's email inbox, I'd rather it be mine than theirs. Thanks, Julie

    M&P40 Pro

Hi Ryan, Right now the M&P Pro 40 is only legal in Open. Once the paperwork is in, it will be legal in Limited & L10. Julie

Not to my knowledge. Other action shooting sports take this approach, but not USPSA.

    M&P40 Pro

Hey everyone, Sorry, just seeing this! From what I understand S&W has passed the 500 mark for USPSA, but the paperwork for USPSA has not been completed. The M&P Pro 40 is not currently legal in USPSA Production as S&W has not met USPSA's minimums. For 5" guns in the M&P line, the Pro in 9mm and the 9L are legal in Limited and Production. I myself personally don't agree with the logic of not approving the 5" .40 since there is no competitive advantage gained in capacity or felt recoil with all production guns scored minor and limited to 10 rounds. USPSA likely developed the 2K rule so that boutique companies couldn't create small quantities of production guns. Unfortunately how major manufacturers schedule production does not seem to have been taken into account. It comes down to supply and demand from the distribution system. S&W faced the same challenge with the Pro 9mm and the 9L becoming Production legal when there were extremely MINOR differences between the 2 models (trigger weight, slide cuts and an insignificant difference in weight). I personally disagree with the rules in these cases, but all I can offer at this time is that other shooting sports recognize the M&P Pro 40 as the same model, simply in a different caliber. I'll see what I can do to get the paperwork moving along where I can. Julie
  12. AWESOME! Welcome to the family and here's to an amazing 2011! Julie

  17. Hi Branika, I am posting this thread to Women of USPSA on Facebook. Shooters can read through and then download your questions. I'll be sure to fill it out as well. Hope that helps! Julie
  18. Hello everyone! Here are some videos from this year's Steel Challenge. 3 post to Women of USPSA's You-Tube RIMFIRE, MAIN MATCH and Tribute to the Guys Team S&W - http://www.youtube.com/teamsmithwesson My video - http://www.youtube.com/user/jgotube Hope you enjoy! Julie
  19. Hi Branika! If you end up posting questions anywhere, we would be happy to add them to the Women of USPSA blog to help you generate more feedback. As a female shooter with less upper body strength as many of my male competitors I look for every advantage possible. I can't speak for anyone else, but I do prefer a wide stance with my right food further back than most (I am right handed). I find that this stance with an aggressive bend at the waist helps me to recover the sights more quickly. This stance also helps me use my body more for some types of target to target transitions. I can't muscle the gun as well as let's say a big, strong guy but I drive my upper body to transition to a target whenever I can. Regarding keeping a low center of gravity it's a winner in my book. Probably the first person I studied that stayed as low as possible is one of the sport's all time greats, Jerry Barnhart. Jerry is not very tall and though he's strong, he doesn't have as much mass behind the gun as some other shooters. Check out this pick of Jerry moving into a position: http://www.jerrybarnhart.com/images/01OpenNationalsPix/2001%20Open%20Nationals%203%20of%205.jpg Notice Jerry's stance in this photo. It's a much wider stance than many other shooters. Wide stance is not just a "girl" thing. http://www.jerrybarnhart.com/images/classes/jbc05.jpg For me there's one other critical component that becomes an issue common to many women - hand size. I have small hands and the distance from the web of my hand to the pad of my finger is 3 1/4" with no bend. When I bend my trigger finger to simulate holding a gun the distance is at 2.5". Large frames with non adjustable triggers are a challenge to shoot well and become increasingly so the heavier the trigger. Working around finger grooves that tend to fit larger hands can also be difficult to deal with. In cases like these I have had to work on grip and trigger finger strength. I am super envious of Jerry Miculek. He has very large hands that are super strong. It's how he manages to shoot large framed revolvers with heavy triggers so fast. I hope that helps! If we can help you with your project at Women of USPSA, please let me know! All the best, Julie G.
  20. TD unfortunately just missed making major in the match. She only had 9 rounders with her so after learning she was minored, she went ahead and loaded up to 9. TD's a trooper and definitely made the best of the situation! Here are the last of Women of USPSA's stage breakdown videos: - It's another stage breakdown from Women of USPSA at the 2010 USPSA Single Stack Nationals! Co-founder of Women of USPSA, Julie Golob breaks down Stage 15 - Gungho. - The final stage breakdown by Women of USPSA at the 2010 USPSA Single Stack Nationals! Multi-time national champion, Lisa Munson, breaks down Stage 16 - True Grit. We are working on a shooting video (of stage performances) next. I'll post a link as soon as we have more! Thanks! Julie
  21. Thanks for all the compliments everyone. We have another video up! This one features a "Women of USPSA Standout Performance." TD Roe had an amazing run on the all steel stage and went ONE FOR ONE! We wish the video of her actual run was a bit better quality, but we couldn't pass up the chance to share it. This was originally supposed to be another breakdown, but due to a corrupt video file, we lost TD's explanation (which was AWESOME). We were able to interview her via phone and added the voice over to the footage to bring you this video... Congrats again TD! Enjoy! Julie
  22. Thanks!! I haven't changed my PT. I do Crossfit and it constantly "challenges" me. I also knew going into the Single Stack that set ups were going to be critical especially with the number of small/medium stages. Because I didn't have that many practice sessions, I really focused on what skills I knew would be featured at the match. Single Stack Nats/Classic is like taking a step back in time to the "old days" in so many ways. Julie
  23. Video from my match is now live on you-tube... Enjoy! Julie
  24. Stage 2 Breakdown with Kippi Leatham! Enjoy! Julie
