  1. MBX most definitely DOES make .45 mags as well. I have one of their 140's. Available on the MBX website and through some of the vendors that sell stuff for our games. Got mine from Shooters Connection.
  2. There is also a bit of blending required to get it to fit well on the frame tangs and the rear of the grip-frame...
  3. What's the secrets? Feed lip tuning tips? I notice that some mags have the top corner(s) trimmed off...? Best spring/follower combos? For 10-11rd 126mm mags? For highest capacity, most reliable 140mm mags? There just doesn't seem to be as much expertise out there on the .45 mags. Who are the gurus?
  4. Any follow-up to this mag coating quandry?
  5. Welcome to the world of STI/SV magazines... I would like to hear about your results. I too am working on making a set of reliable 126mm mags to use in IDPA, so they only need to hold 10-11rds, just need most reliable followers and "energetic" springs to keep rounds high and activate slide lock. Also working on a set of 140mm's for Limited/L10/Heavy3G, etc. Need good followers that don't hurt capacity and appropriate springs. The MBX I picked up seems solid, but at $140 a pop, surely I can get the STI's to run for less since I already have them. Those who have successfully created functional double-stack STI 45 mags, please share your knowledge.
  6. Where to get ultra polished copper-colored finish now...?
  7. I'm intrigued by this discussion. Some of the folk who tend to be such sticklers to the rules/rulebook seem to be trying to blow off the OP's question by saying that because they see it occasionally and some M's and GM's do it, so it's ok. OP is questioning the fact that a shooter is fingering the trigger DURING the loading process. Obviously the shooter in question had not truly completed "loading" his pistol because he manipulated it further before holstering it, so he was fingering during loading. Another part of the rulebook says that the pistol is "loaded" once a loaded mag is inserted, so it would be ok to finger trigger as long as it doesn't go bang. What's the answer and justification?
  8. I don't care how hard you smack it from the bullet/case mouth end, it will not detonate. And, before you start compressing anything to the point of "expanding" the case in the chamber, you will have driven the bullet into the case and have powder dribbling up around it. Brass rod down muzzle, hammer until it comes out. If it doesnt come out, get a bigger hammer...
  9. Idpa gives what back to the clubs...?
  10. I've been using the Vortex Spitfire on my JP for a while now. I like that I can use the circle on close, open targets and focus on the center dot with tight targets, distant targets, hard cover, no shoots, etc.
  11. Seems that the answer is something along the lines of a "universal" rail spec. Like that of a Glock. I bet the SF light has extra keys for fitting to different rails.
  12. Is the X300 set up for a 1913/pic rail?
  13. I was dead wrong about it being 1913 spec. The actual cross-slot is narrower than a 1913 slot. Width of dustcover is right, but slot isn't... What the heck? Anybody?
  14. That's a shame about the Friday slots. Figured some folk could shoot the same match on Friday as everyone else on Sat/Sun. I know that TN has allowed that in the past. I wasn't aware that caused such an inconvenience.
  15. Depends entirely on your zero. I cheat with my pistol sight zero. I set my sights for POI to be a few inches high of POA at 15yds or so(let's me see holes over my sights if there's a question). As such, my hold at 100 isn't much different. This would vary greatly based on your zero and load. Lots of folk on here are better than me and may have better advice...in a different thread.
  16. Not a difficult thing to accomplish. I surprised myself with 2 hits out of 5 shots on a 10in flasher @ 100yds last week with my .45 Edge. And agree that the only fix is repetition. Just gotta make sure you're repeating the correct thing...
  17. Maybe it warrants doing some checking on the measure. You say the travel is correct, but have you tried adjusting it at all? Are you sure you're using the correct funnel? No intent to question your intelligence, just trying to cover all bases since I cant lay eyes on it. Do you have any other shooters in your area who might be able to look at it with a fresh set of eyes? My next suggestion would be to break it down and start completely over.
  18. Why .45 Super? What games are played with this critter?
  19. Are the insides of your case necks lubed? Does the powder charge completely fill the case? Dillon is actually pretty awesome in most all respects. This is not a good place for bashing them.
  20. For most local matches that dont have much distance, you may not require either. The trigger will likely help more with precision shots though.
  21. Nothing wrong with the Super-X slugs from Win, but they pack a whallop on both ends with velocity upwards of 1500fps.
  22. I'm not aware of any .30/30's that function with an operating rod. OP even states that its for his lever gun. .30/30 is generally not loaded to any kind of crazy pressures. Certainly not to .30/06 or .308 pressures. I was answering the question posed by the OP about this specific situation and I stand by the statement that if they are NOT already loading to max charge weights, they won't do any damage by substituting the other 4064 powder.
  23. It will likely not be exactly the same. Maybe a little better or worse accuracy. Maybe a little more or less velocity. Maybe a little more or less pressure. Unless you're currently loading max charges you should be fine to sub one for the other, but you will only know the exact differences after you try.
  24. Thanks for that info, Andy. I wasn't aware of a ruleset that allowed just an active grip safety when dumping a gun. Any others that allow it?
  25. I adjusted the tension on my stock Springfield extractor to the point that I know it's "too" tight, but it runs like a top with 147's at about 1.14" over about 3.1gr of Bullseye(128PF). It also runs about 98-99% with 124/5gr bullets at 115PF. I use the Dawson mags after not having a great deal of luck with the Wilsons, Tripps, or XP9 mags...
